Het doel van dit onderzoek betrof het verkrijgen van meer zicht op de relatie tussen de opvoedstijl en externaliserend probleemgedrag en de mediërende rol van het zelfbeeld daarbij bij dak- en thuisloze jongeren in Utrecht in de leeftijd van 18 tot en met 25 jaar. Het onderzoek is uitgevoerd middels een ad hoc survey met een eenmalige meting onder dak- en thuisloze jongeren in Utrecht in de leeftijd van 18 tot en met 25 jaar. De respondenten zijn benaderd bij een voorziening in Utrecht waar ambulante hulp wordt geboden aan deze doelgroep in deze leeftijdscategorie. In totaal namen 89 respondenten deel aan het onderzoek waarvan er 79 overbleven na het verwijderen van respondenten met missende data. De populatie bestond uit 51 jongens met een gemiddelde leeftijd van 23 jaar en 28 meisjes met een gemiddelde leeftijd van 22 jaar. Het zelfbeeld is gemeten met de Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1989), het externaliserende probleemgedrag met de Self-Report Delinquency Scale (SRD; West & Farrington, 1973), en de verkregen opvoedstijl met de Parenting Style Index (PSI; Steinberg, Lamborn, Darling, Mounts & Dornbusch,1994). Uit de resultaten van het onderzoek kwam bij de relatie van ouderlijke steun met externaliserend probleemgedrag een partiële mediatie naar voren door het zelfbeeld. Bij de relatie van ouderlijke controle met externaliserend probleemgedrag bleek geen mediatie op te treden door het zelfbeeld. Een hoge mate van ouderlijke steun leidde tot een hoger zelfbeeld, maar ouderlijke controle had geen effect op het zelfbeeld. Daarnaast werd gevonden dat een hoge mate van ouderlijke steun en controle, alsmede het hebben van een hoog zelfbeeld leidde tot minder externaliserend probleemgedrag.

This paper investigates virtual reality representations of performance in London’s late sixteenth-century Rose Theatre, a venue that, by means of current technology, can once again challenge perceptions of space, performance, and memory. The VR model of The Rose becomes a Camillo device in that it represents a virtual recreation of this venue in as much detail as possible and attempts to recover graphic demonstrations of the trace memories of the performance modes of the day. The VR model is based on accurate archeological and theatre historical records and is easy to navigate. The introduction of human figures onto The Rose’s stage via motion capture allows us to explore the relationships between space, actor and environment. The combination of venue and actors facilitates a new way of thinking about how the work of early modern playwrights can be stored and recalled. This virtual theatre is thus activated to intersect productively with contemporary studies in performance; as such, our paper provides a perspective on and embodiment of the relation between technology, memory and experience. It is, at its simplest, a useful archiving project for theatrical history, but it is directly relevant to contemporary performance practice as well. Further, it reflects upon how technology and ‘re-enactments’ of sorts mediate the way in which knowledge and experience are transferred, and even what may be considered ‘knowledge.’ Our work provides opportunities to begin addressing what such intermedial confrontations might produce for ‘remembering, experiencing, thinking and imagining.’ We contend that these confrontations will enhance live theatre performance rather than impeding or disrupting contemporary performance practice. This paper intersects with the CFP’s ‘Performing Memory’ and ‘Memory Lab’ themes. Our presentation (which includes a demonstration of the VR model and the motion capture it requires) takes the form of two closely linked papers that share a single abstract. The two papers will be given by two people, one of whom will be physically present in Utrecht, the other participating via Skype.

Artists with disabilities working in Live Art paradigms often present performances which replay the social attitudes they are subject to in daily life as guerilla theatre in public spaces – including online spaces. In doing so, these artists draw spectators’ attention to the way their responses to disabled people contribute to the social construction of disability. They provide different theatrical, architectural or technological devices to encourage spectators to articulate their response to themselves and others. But – the use of exaggeration, comedy and confrontation in these practices notwithstanding – their blurry boundaries mean some spectators experience confusion as to whether they are responding to real life or a representation of it. This results in conflicted responses which reveal as much about the politics of disability as the performances themselves. In this paper, I examine how these conflicted responses play out in online forums. I discuss diverse examples, from blog comments on Liz Crow’s Resistance on the Plinth on YouTube, to Aaron Williamson and Katherine Araneillo’s Disabled Avant-Garde clips on YouTube, to Ju Gosling’s Letter Writing Project on her website, to segments of UK Channel 4’s mock reality show Cast Offs on YouTube. I demonstrate how online forums become a place not just for recording memories of an original performance (which posters may not have seen), but for a new performance, which goes well beyond re-membering/remediating the original. I identify trends in the way experience, memory and meaningmaking play out in these performative forums – moving from clarification of the original act’s parameters, to claims of disgust, insult or offense, to counter-claims confirming the comic or political efficacy of the act, often linked disclosure of personal memory or experience of disability. I examine the way these encounters at the interstices of live and/or online performance, memory, technology and public/private history negotiate ideas about disability, and what they tell us about the ethics and efficacy of the specific modes of performance and spectatorship these artists with disabilities are invoking.

In this paper, we will discuss the issue of rostering jobs of cabin crew attendants at KLM. Generated schedules get easily disrupted by events such as illness of an employee. Obviously, reserve people have to be kept 'on duty' to resolve such disruptions. A lot of reserve crew requires more employees, but too few results in so-called secondary disruptions, which are particularly inconvenient for both the crew members and the planners. In this research we will discuss several modifications of the reserve scheduling policy that have a potential to reduce the number of secondary disruptions, and therefore to improve the performance of the scheduling process.

Agility is emerging as an important determinant of success and achieving sustained competitive advantage in hyper-competition. Whilst the digital natives are on the rise, ubiquitous technologies, networks and associated systems are increasingly weaving themselves into the very fabric of everyday life of both individuals and corporations. With a global shift towards “everywhere retailing”, ubiquitous contemporary information systems such as mobile CRM systems (C-CRMS) are evolving. Unlike in traditional CRMS, customers are becoming an important user group in this new paradigm. Draws on agility literature, this study examine how customers’ use of C-CRMS influence firm’s customer sensing capability, firm’s customer responding capability, and how customer-perceived firm’s responsiveness influence customers use of C-CRMS. Following the notions of agility we theorized firm’s customer agility from customers’ standpoint where we use customers’ use of C-CRMS and customer-perceived firm’s responsiveness for sensing and responding components of agility respectively. This research-in-progress paper investigates how C-CRMS facilitates firm’s customer agility, and reports the approach pursued in adopting sense and response measures of customer agility taking the customers perspective derived through extant literature.
