Hydrological samples were collected on the continental shelf of the Amazon river to determine particulate organic and inorganic matter, dissolved organic phosphorus (DOP), phosphate, total particulate phosphorus (TPP), chlorophyll a, temperature, salinity, pH, water transparency, dissolved oxygen (DO) and saturation rate. The objective was to study the forms of DOP, phosphate and TPP. In the euphotic layer, the fluvial discharge from the Amazon river favored the distribution of phosphate, TPP and DOP. In the aphotic layer, the phosphate concentration increased due to the decomposition of DOP and TPP. This increase is due to the absence of photosynthetic processes.

A análise das razões de isótopos estáveis de carbono (δ13C) e nitrogênio (δ15N) vem sendo utilizada para identificar as fontes primárias de carbono dos ecossistemas e traçar as interações tróficas entre seus componentes. Nesse contexto, a variabilidade espacial e temporal da trama trófica bentônica da Baía de Santos e da plataforma continental interna e média, ao largo da costa sul do estado de São Paulo, Brasil (23,9-24,5°S), foi investigada durante o inverno de 2005 e o verão de 2006. A matéria orgânica particulada em suspensão (MOPS), zooplâncton, macroalgas, vegetais terrestres (C3), sedimento e 21 categorias de consumidores bentônicos foram analisados. Segundo os valores de δ13C, a MOPS foi a principal fonte primária de matéria orgânica. A análise de regressão entre os valores médios de δ15N e δ13C indicou, no inverno, semelhanças nas assinaturas isotópicas dos consumidores bentônicos entre a plataforma interna e média e diferenças entre essas e as da baía. Por outro lado, no verão, foram observadas diferenças nessas assinaturas entre a baía, a plataforma interna e a média. Os valores de 13C dos consumidores decresceram do ambiente costeiro em direção à plataforma média, enquanto os de 15N aumentaram. Em relação ao δ13C, houve diferença da MOPS, possivelmente pela contribuição de produção primária nova (PPN) ou do microfitobentos no verão. Quanto ao δ15N, o enriquecimento da mesma categoria trófica no gradiente ambiental pode ser devido às diferenças na MOPS, resultante da PPN na plataforma interna no verão, decorrente da entrada da Água Central do Atlântico Sul (ACAS), que enriquece a água oligotrófica nessa área

L'argomento di questa tesi è il paragone tra la Praxe in Portogallo e la Goliardia in Italia. Con Praxe si intende un gruppo di studenti universitari che cerca di integrare gli altri studenti, le cosiddette matricole, all'interno dell'università e della città in cui studiano. Per ogni università ci sono tante Praxe e ognuna ha le proprie regole da seguire. Non esiste quindi un'unica Praxe portoghese ma tante diverse. La Goliardia in Italia è sempre un gruppo di studenti universitari che si ritrovano per stare insieme, fare festa e parlare di argomenti di qualsiasi genere. Anche la Goliardia è composta da vari gruppi che hanno la propria struttura e le proprie regole. Lo scopo principale di questi due gruppi è quello di far sì che gli studenti si trovino bene facendo parte di un gruppo che diventa una specie di seconda famiglia. Ho deciso di scrivere la tesi su questo argomento perché, essendo stata in Erasmus in Portogallo, mi ha colpita molto vedere gli studenti vestiti in un determinato modo perché membri della Praxe. In seguito ho deciso di fare questo paragone con la Goliardia perché una ragazza mi ha detto che è ancora in voga in molte città italiane. Il paragone si focalizza sulla Praxe di Aveiro, la città in cui sono stata in Erasmus, e la Goliardia di Bologna, che è la città dove vivo.

Os assuntos principais desta dissertação são a Romanha, a parte sudeste da região italiana de Emília-Romanha, e a Ria de Aveiro, uma lagoa situada na Região do Centro de Portugal. No primeiro capítulo, compararei estes dois territórios, mostrarei as suas diferenças e semelhanças e falarei sobre as cidades de Aveiro e de Forlì. No segundo capítulo, apresentarei a minha proposta de tradução, para a língua italiana, de um folheto português sobre o artesanato da Ria de Aveiro, e vou aproveitá-la para apresentar uma análise linguística e sociológica. No terceiro capítulo, apresentarei uma análise linguística da tradução, pondo em relevo as dificuldades que encontrei nesta, do ponto de vista dos termos, dos elementos culturais e das frases e expressões utilizadas. Por fim, introduzirei uma análise sociológica da tradução e focalizar-me-ei sobre o artesanato de ambos os lugares, pois é muito semelhante. Em particular, falarei sobre o artesanato ligado às salinas, às miniaturas de barcos, às embarcações tradicionais, à cerâmica, às conchas e aos tecidos, que é típico de ambos os territórios.

At the active continental margin off Costa Rica substantial amounts of hydrocarbon gases are encountered in sediments. The molecular composition (C1-C3) of free hydrocarbon gas as well as the isotopic composition (d13C of methane and ethane and D of methane) was analysed on core samples (ranging between 50 and 380 m depth) collected at sites 1040-1043 which was drilled during ODP Leg 170. In addition, the molecular composition of the C1-C3 hydrocarbons and the d13C composition of C1 and C2 hydrocarbons was determined on adsorbed gas from selected depth intervals at Site 1041 (50-380 mbsf). The molecular composition, and stable carbon and hydrogen isotope signature of low molecular weight hydrocarbons from core sediments and gas pockets indicate that most of the gas was generated by microbial CO2-reduction. Beside d13C values of about -80 per mil for methane (which is typical for microbially- generated methane) extremely light d13C values of -55 per mil were measured for ethane. The carbon isotope composition of methane and ethane, as well as the C1/(C2+C3) ratio display distinct trends with increasing depth. Gas mixing calculations indicate that the percentage of thermally-generated ethane increases from 10% at about 75 mbsf to almost 80% at 380 mbsf. The fraction of thermogenic methane in this depth interval is calculated to range from 0.03 to 1.8% of the total methane. The small contribution of thermogenic methane would increase the d13C value by <1 per mil. Therefore, the increase of d13C of methane (by about 12 per mil) with depth cannot be explained by gas mixing alone. Instead, the observed d13C trend is caused by successive isotope depletion of the methane precursor within the sedimentary organic matter due to progressing microbial gas generation.

En este trabajo se describe el cambio de la línea de costa en la parte sur de la provincia de Alicante para los últimos 15.000 años. Se ha obtenido integrando datos de diferentes fuentes y especialmente de perfiles sísmicos de alta resolución marinos de la plataforma continental anexa. Se han distinguido 10 periodos. Comienza con la transgresión marina tras la última glaciación, le sigue la formación del sinus ilicitanus entre los años 4000 y 3000 a. C., y finaliza con un lento proceso de desecación hasta la actualidad, reducido a las lagunas del Fondo y Salinas de Santa Pola.

Two hundred and seventy five mollusc species from the continental shelf off Southern Spanish Sahara (depth: 32-60 m) were identified. Their distribution pattern is strongly influenced by the nature of the bottom (firm substrate, shelter, stability of sediment) rather than other factors at that depth interval. This faunal assemblage shows great affinity to the Mediterranean and Lusitanian faunas, and comprises only few (22 %) exclusively Senegalese and species living south of Senegal.

This documental research in a qualitative and interpretative nature is inserted in the field of Applied Linguistics and its object of study is teachers‟ writing in a literacy event (public exam) held for teachers of Portuguese Language by municipality in Natal city - RN in 2008. Overall, we have aimed to investigate the textual production of these teachers, considering their knowledge about writing, their sayings in relation to themselves and their views on new technologies and teaching. Specifically, we have chosen the following objectives: a) identifying what knowledge about writing have emerged from teachers' written text; b) analyzing the written text production of teachers, considering the knowledge they have revealed about themselves; c) mapping the sayings of the teachers about the teaching profession and new technologies. Our discussion is grounded theoretically by Bakhtin studies of language (BAKHTIN [1934], 1990; [1952-1953], 2000; BAKHTIN; VOLOSHINOV [1929], 1999); in studies of critical literacy as formulated by STREET (1984, 1995, 2006, 2010, 2014); KLEIMAN (1995, 2005, 2006, 2008); (BARTON, HAMILTON, 1998; BARTON; Ivanic, 1991); studies on teacher training in critical educational perspective (GIROUX, 1986; 1987; 1997; 1999) FREIRE, 1999; 2001). The corpus of this study is consisted of written texts by participants of this examination about the Writing Test, in which they were asked to produce an opinion paper. The research has allowed us to realize that, in relation to the writing, despite the recurring negative discourse on literacy teachers, especially the Portuguese ones, these, in the fabric of their texts, both have revealed to have dominion over the formal structure, particularly in respect to prototypical schema of argumentative sequence, as proposed by Adam (1992, 2008) and the mechanisms of textualization postulated by Bronckart (2007), and on those enunciation-discursive strategies relating to opinion genre. The relevance of this research is justified by seeking to understand the teacher‟s writing beyond the language system, i.e, writing as speech, assuming it as a contrapalavra (BAKHTIN, [1934], 1990) to those voices that insist on underestimating literacy teachers and they do so much harm to society, to the extent that foster a sense of disbelief in the qualification of teachers' work and distrust of the social role of these professionals in the preparation of future generations

In the shallow continental shelf in Northeastern Rio Grande do Norte - Brazil, important underwater geomorphological features can be found 6km from the coastline. They are coral reefs, locally known as “parrachos”. The present study aims to characterize and analyze the geomorphological feature as well as the ones of the benthic surface, and the distribution of biogenic sediments found in parrachos at Rio do Fogo and associated shallow platforms, by using remote sensing products and in situ data collections. This was made possible due to sedimentological, bathymetric and geomorphological maps elaborated from composite bands of images from the satellite sensors ETM+/Landsat-7, OLI/Landsat-8, MS/GeoEye and PAN/WordView-1, and analysis of bottom sediments samples. These maps were analyzed, integrally interpreted and validated in fieldwork, thus permitting the generation of a new geomorphological zoning of the shallow shelf in study and a geoenvironmental map of the Parrachos in Rio do Fogo. The images used were subject to Digital Image Processing techniques. All obtained data and information were stored in a Geographic Information System (GIS) and can become available to the scientific community. This shallow platform has a carbonate bottom composed mostly by algae. Collected and analyzed sediment samples can be classified as biogenic carbonatic sands, as they are composed 75% by calcareous algae, according to the found samples. The most abundant classes are green algae, red algae, nonbiogenic sediments (mineral grains), ancient algae and molluscs. At the parrachos the following was mapped: Barreta Channel, intertidal reefs, submerged reefs, the spur and grooves, the pools, the sandy bank, the bank of algae, sea grass, submerged roads and Rio do Fogo Channel. This work presents new information about geomorphology and evolution in the study area, and will be guiding future decision making in the handling and environmental management of the region

Portuguese language textbooks, according to what has been preconized on the official document to education, have been configured on discursive genres imported from diverse spheres of human activity. Adverts, genre of ample social circulation, spread from the Advertising sphere to the schools and started being approached by these collectaneas as an object and a tool for teaching. Therefore, this research deals with the approach of ads in Portugese textbooks. These discursive practices matter for the impact or appeal they exert over the (new) consumers, among which High School students; for their representation in the capitalist system, which guides us on our relationships and social practices; and for the mix of languages that end up at their composition, once they encapsulate the spirit of our time, par excellence, the one from the verbal-visual genres. To understand the treatment given to these advertising pieces, from questions/commentaries related to them, two collections were selected by the Programa Nacional do Livro Didático – Textbook National Program (PNLD 2012) among the ones more used by public High Schools in Natal/RN. From Applied Linguistics, from mestizo, nomadic and inter/transdisciplinary identity (MOITA LOPES, 2009), this study falls within the discursive chain of the interpretive tradition of historical-cultural approach (FREITAS, 2010) and names the Bakhtin Circle and its language‟s dialogical conception as inescapable partners. The data of the colletaneas show that the genre approach can happen as concrete utterance, as linguistic artifact and as hybrid, at work with questions and without questions, with the predominance of its occurrence in the portion of the volume devoted to the study of grammar. In the literature chapters and production/interpretation of compositions, it insert is incipient or it doesn‟t happen in the volume. Such a provision has implications for multiliteracies (ROJO, 2012) of the citizen student, once the lack or the abundance of critical reading proposals for this genre, that demand from the student the exercise of knowledge that is necessary to the construction of linguistic and social meanings, can be responsible for guide to a more conscious consumerism (material and cultural) by the chief customers of the work under review. The approaches of the genres seems to indicate a gradual transition that such material have undergone, which means, from the focus on clauses to the focus on utterances, or even the approach as linguistic artifact to hybrid and the concrete utterance, in search of overcoming the traditional tendency of taking advantage of formal aspects of the language, to the detriment of enunciative ones, and for coming into harmony with the guidelines and parameters of teaching in contemporary times, bringing the school duties close to the rights in life.
