O processo de bolonha na web semântica

O Processo de Bolonha, cujo propósito visa a construção de um Espaço Europeu do Ensino Superior, tem como um dos seus objectivos promover a mobilidade de estudantes. A adopção do Processo de Bolonha requer uma abordagem que agilize a mobilidade dos estudantes, à luz da legislação actualmente em vigor. Neste âmbito, destaca-se a interoperabilidade entre sistemas de gestão académica na área de investigação da Web Semântica. Esta dissertação propõe um modelo de representação flexível que integra conhecimento sobre o estudante e sobre os cursos que frequentou ou pretende frequentar: (1) Registo Académico do estudante relativo a competências adquiridas designadamente no decorrer de uma qualificação, frequência de unidades curriculares, experiência profissional ou formação pós-secundária e (2) Plano Individual de Estudos que posiciona o estudante no contexto de um determinado (3) Plano de Curso que define a estrutura curricular e plano de estudos que o estudante pretende frequentar. O modelo de representação proposto foi alvo de avaliação experimental. Para tal, foi concebido um demonstrador que aplicou o modelo proposto em quatro cenários de utilização relativos à mobilidade de estudantes no âmbito do Processo de Bolonha.

A new chemical route to synthesise TM-doped (TM = Co, Fe) TiO2 nanoparticles

Since the discovery of ferromagnetism well above room temperature in the Co-doped TiO2 system, diluted magnetic semiconductors based on TiO2 doped with transition metals have generated great interest because of their potential use in the development of spintronic devices. The purpose of this paper is to report on a new and swift chemical route to synthesise highly stable anatase single-phase Co- and Fe-doped TiO2 nanoparticles, with dopant concentrations of up to 10 at.-% and grain sizes that range between 20 and 30 nm. Complementary structural, microstructural and chemical analyses of the different nanopowders synthesised strongly support the hypothesis that a homogeneous distribution of the dopant element in the substitutional sites of the anatase structure has been achieved. Moreover, UV/Vis diffuse reflectance spectra of powder samples show redshifts to lower energies and decreasing bandgap energies with increasing Co or Fe concentration, which is consistent with n-type doping of the TiO2 anatase matrix. Films of Co-doped TiO2 were successfully deposited onto Si (100) substrates by the dip-coating method, with suspensions of Ti1-xCOxO2 nanoparticles in ethylene glycol. ((C)Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Estudo preliminar para a avaliação da acessibilidade de um sítio Web

O avanço e difusão da tecnologia, em particular da Internet, obrigaram à disponibilização de informação com qualidade e facilmente acessível. Tais exigências vêm confirmar a relevância do papel da interface como elemento principal na interacção do utilizador com os sistemas de informação. É, por isso, fundamental que a interface seja fácil de usar e que vá ao encontro das expectativas e necessidades de todos os utilizadores. O desenvolvimento de interfaces que satisfaçam utilizadores com necessidades distintas, independentemente das suas capacidades motoras e perceptivas, culturais e sociais não é uma tarefa que possa se considerada simples [1]. De acordo com vários especialistas em Interacção Homem-Computador, [1], [2] e [3] as interfaces devem ser construídas respeitando os princípios de desenho centrado no utilizador, visando um elevado grau de usabilidade e em conformidade com directrizes de acessibilidade básicas. Este trabalho apresenta uma metodologia para avaliação da acessibilidade de um sítio Web, baseado num documento disponibilizado pela Web Accessibility Initiative, WAI, [4], a ser aplicada à secretaria on-line de uma escola do ensino superior.

Language and trade: the (new) route of portuguese in the 21st century

Globalisation has eliminated frontiers and in the case of Europe helped the crossing of borders and changed forever the concept of social (and I would also say individual) geography: the rest of the world is out there; we can pretend not to see it, but we cannot avoid it. Moreover, Europe is undergoing a serious crisis, also economic, and new markets and business partners are welcome. In this context, cultural bonds like a common language can open new investment paths and give rise to successful stories. In this paper we intend to present an example of how low linguistic distance can lead to good business, even if a) in the internationalization process of the companies’ language is often forgotten as a management element and b) consumers of language products (like User Guides) are also not stimulating investment in language by the companies. Through the results of 2 studies carried out in 2010 and 2011 we will show how a pluricentric language like Portuguese is managed in multinational companies (MC) and Small and medium Enterprises (SMEs). The second study is based on an online survey questioning the effectiveness, efficiency and general quality of User Guides and the reaction of consumers to language. Results show that although playing a role in the internationalization process of companies in the same linguistic space, language is opportunistically used. On the other hand, Portuguese and Brazilian consumers show a very functional perception of the Portuguese language...

Answer: plataforma em C++ para o desenvolvimento de serviços web

Analisando as tendências actuais de mercado, observa-se a necessidade da capacidade de integração de sistemas recorrendo à utilização de serviços web. Actualmente o C++ é ainda uma das mais populares linguagens de programação, facto justificado pelo abundante portefólio de aplicações, desde alto-nível a sistemas embebidos, com inúmeras bibliotecas que tiram partido dos diversos paradigmas de programação que a linguagem suporta. Porém, e ao contrário de outras linguagens, como C# ou Java que oferecem suporte à criação de serviços web integrado com a plataforma, existe uma lacuna no suporte ao desenvolvimento de serviços web em C++. Para dar resposta à lacuna existente é criada a plataforma ANSWER, focada em C++, com ênfase num modelo de programação simples, permitindo o rápido desenvolvimento de serviços web RPC/SOAP e REST.

TINSEL – a web-based intelligent tutoring system on electrical installation design

This paper presents a project consisting on the development of an Intelligent Tutoring System, for training and support concerning the development of electrical installation projects to be used by electrical engineers, technicians and students. One of the major goals of this project is to devise a teaching model based on Intelligent Tutoring techniques, considering not only academic knowledge but also other types of more empirical knowledge, able to achieve successfully the training of electrical installation design.

Chitosan-alginate microparticulate delivery system for an alternative route of administration of BCG vaccine

Immunisation against M. tuberculosis with current available BCG vaccine lacks efficacy in preventing adult pulmonary tuberculosis. Targeting nasal mucosa is an attractive option for a more effective immunization. The delivery of BCG via the intranasal route involves overcoming barriers such as crossing the physical barrier imposed by the mucus layer and ciliar remotion, cellular uptake and intracellular trafficking by antigen presenting cells. Due to its biodegradable, immunogenic and mucoadhesive properties, chitosan particulate delivery systems can act both as vaccine carrier and adjuvant, improving the elicited immune response. In this study, different combinations of Chitosan/Alginate/TPP microparticles with BCG were produced as vaccine systems. The developed microparticle system successfully modulates BCG surface physicochemical properties and promotes effective intracellular uptake by human macrophage cell lines Preliminary immune responses were evaluated after s.c. and intranasal immunisation of BALB/c mice. BCG vaccination successfully stimulated the segregation of IgG2a and IgG1, where intranasal immunisation with chitosan/alginate particulate system efficiently elicited a more equilibrated cellular/humoral immune response.

Information and communication technologies in education – a web-based intelligent tutoring system on teaching and learning electrical project

Electrical activity is extremely broad and distinct, requiring by one hand, a deep knowledge on rules, regulations, materials, equipments, technical solutions and technologies and assistance in several areas, as electrical equipment, telecommunications, security and efficiency and rational use of energy, on the other hand, also requires other skills, depending on the specific projects to be implemented, being this knowledge a characteristic that belongs to the professionals with relevant experience, in terms of complexity and specific projects that were made.

A web-based intelligent tutoring system on teaching and learning electrical project

The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) provide new strategies for disseminating information and new communication models in order to change attitudes and human behaviour concerning to education. Nowadays the internet is crucial as a means of communication and information sharing. To education or tutorship will be required to use ICT, supported on the internet, to establish the communication of teacher-student and student-student, disseminating the content of the subjects, and as a way of teaching and learning process. This paper presents an intelligent tutor that aims to be a tool to support teaching and learning in the field of the electrical engineering project.

Neste artigo procuramos refletir sobre a forma como as instituições de ensino superior policial e militar comunicam com os seus públicos através dos respetivos sítios web. Para esse efeito, recorrer-se-á sobretudo ao enfoque epistemológico do Interacionismo Sociodiscursivo, no âmbito da Linguística do Texto e do Discurso.

Desde o início que os sistemas periciais não foram vistos apenas como sistemas que poderiam substituir os peritos. Os peritos por sua vez, independentemente da área em que operam, eram tidos como indivíduos que atingiram a excelência através da experiência, estudo e total dedicação, por vezes durante anos. Hoje, mais do que assumir o papel de um perito na excelência de uma área de actuação, os sistemas periciais sobressaem pela disponibilidade contínua, acessos facilitados, custos reduzidos, estabilidade de funcionamento e coerência de raciocínio. Empurrados pelos avanços actuais das redes em termos de velocidade e propagação global, estes sistemas são hoje disponibilizados de forma mais simples e acessível. Este trabalho é realizado com o propósito de evoluir o actual sistema para uma versão mais apelativa, funcional e fiável. Um dos objectivos passa pela evolução do actual modo de funcionamento, utilização local e apenas um utilizador, para um modo de funcionamento que permita uma disponibilização num ambiente de acesso global, acessível a qualquer hora e em qualquer local.
