A linearly tunable low-voltage CMOS transconductor with improved common-mode stability and its application to (gm)-C filters

A linearly tunable low-voltage CMOS transconductor featuring a new adaptative-bias mechanism that considerably improves the stability of the processed-signal common,mode voltage over the tuning range, critical for very-low voltage applications, is introduced. It embeds a feedback loop that holds input devices on triode region while boosting the output resistance. Analysis of the integrator frequency response gives an insight into the location of secondary poles and zeros as function of design parameters. A third-order low-pass Cauer filter employing the proposed transconductor was designed and integrated on a 0.8-mum n-well CMOS standard process. For a 1.8-V supply, filter characterization revealed f(p) = 0.93 MHz, f(s) = 1.82 MHz, A(min) = 44.08, dB, and A(max) = 0.64 dB at nominal tuning. Mined by a de voltage V-TUNE, the filter bandwidth was linearly adjusted at a rate of 11.48 kHz/mV over nearly one frequency decade. A maximum 13-mV deviation on the common-mode voltage at the filter output was measured over the interval 25 mV less than or equal to V-TUNE less than or equal to 200 mV. For V-out = 300 mV(pp) and V-TUNE = 100 mV, THD was -55.4 dB. Noise spectral density was 0.84 muV/Hz(1/2) @1 kHz and S/N = 41 dB @ V-out = 300 mV(pp) and 1-MHz bandwidth. Idle power consumption was 1.73 mW @V-TUNE = 100 mV. A tradeoff between dynamic range, bandwidth, power consumption, and chip area has then been achieved.

Evaluation of Salmonella-Lytic Properties of Bacteriophages Isolated from Commercial Broiler Houses

Because of recent interest in bacteriophage therapy in poultry, information regarding the interaction of bacteriophages and potential host bacteria in the environment should be collected. The present studies were initiated with a rather typical commercial broiler integrator within the south-central United States to examine environmental Salmonella levels in two broiler complexes, attempt to isolate Salmonella-lytic bacteriophages, and elucidate a possible reason for differing apparent Salmonella prevalence. Significantly ( P<0.05) less Salmonella was isolated from houses in complex 1 ( 15/44 [ 34%] Salmonella-positive drag swabs) as compared to houses in complex 2 ( 22/24 [ 92%]). A total of seven Salmonella-lytic bacteriophages were isolated from Salmonella-positive environments, and two bacteriophages were isolated from a single Salmonella-negative house. During the initial bacteriophage isolation, individual bacteriophages did not replicate in the Salmonella host isolated from the same environment, and lysis of additional Salmonella hosts relied on high numbers of bacteriophage to be present. This suggests that the presence of these bacteriophages in the environment of a commercial broiler house had little to no effect on the presence of Salmonella. This study highlights the need to find additional bacteriophage sources, more effective isolation methods, and more innovative approaches to using bacteriophages to treat enteric disease.

Dilemas do planejamento e da gestão municipal na Amazônia ribeirinha: uma análise do caso de Cametá à luz do ideário da reforma urbana e do Estatuto da Cidade

Trata a presente pesquisa de um estudo que discute os instrumentos de reforma urbana concebidos no Estatuto da Cidade relacionados às especificidades sócio-espaciais de um município ribeirinho amazônico. Busca-se identificar e analisar o ideário de reforma urbana proposto pelo Movimento Nacional pela Reforma Urbana (MNRU) e concebido no Estatuto da Cidade atentando para as especificidades sócio-espaciais do Município de Cametá, Estado do Pará. Para a realização da pesquisa recorreu-se a uma abordagem histórico-dialética sobre a problemática enfocada e se utilizou, como procedimentos de pesquisa o levantamento e a análise bibliográfica e documental (Estatuto da Cidade e Plano diretor de Cametá); aplicação de entrevistas semi-estruturadas junto à equipe elaboradora do plano diretor municipal, junto aos integrantes de movimentos sociais urbanos e rurais e junto ao poder público. Por meio da análise, concluiu-se que municípios ribeirinhos como Cametá, em virtude de apresentarem especificidades sócio-espaciais no contexto amazônico e brasileiro, enfrentam dilemas relacionados ao planejamento e à gestão urbana e municipal, distanciando-se, algumas vezes, das diretrizes e princípios estabelecidos genericamente para o território nacional. Tal questão revela a importância de pensar a diversidade sócio-espacial brasileira e amazônica, bem como a necessidade de viabilizar adequações de instrumentos e preceitos que buscam nortear as diversas práticas de planejamento e de gestão em nível local, não obstante os avanços relacionados a essas mesmas práticas nos últimos anos no Brasil.

A study of low velocities regions near the Roche lobe during the gas giant planets formation

In this paper were studied regions close to the Roche lobe of a planet like Jupiter, in order to find regions with low velocities. We simulated a two dimensional and non-self-gravitating disk, where tidal and viscous torques are considered, using the hydrodynamic numerical integrator FARGO 2D. As stated earlier we are interested in find low velocities regions for in future works study the possibility of satellites formation in these regions.

INTEGRAL FUNCTIONALS ON C*-ALGEBRA OF VECTOR-VALUED REGULATED FUNCTIONS

In this paper we deal with the notion of regulated functions with values in a C*-algebra A and present examples using a special bi-dimensional C*-algebra of triangular matrices. We consider the Dushnik integral for these functions and shows that a convenient choice of the integrator function produces an integral homomorphism on the C*-algebra of all regulated functions ([a, b], A). Finally we construct a family of linear integral functionals on this C*-algebra.

A comunicação organizacional e a atuação das Relações Públicas na era da dialética entre globalização e glocalização

This study is the result of theoretical reflections and analyses about the role of public relations professional in existing management of cultural diversity in organizations, arising from globalisation and glocalisation. This way, we analyze new perspectives for organizational communication, considering the cultural aspects of different audiences in an organization. Thus, the goal of this work is to show another look for this activity, in which prime respect and integration amid interculturality and enable new paths for public relations, acting as ' cultural Integrator ' in this scenario. For understanding these new interfaces, the study takes as its starting point an overview of roots that gave rise to this context, starting from the analysis of various aspects of globalisation and your reflexes and impacts on organizations, plus a contextualization of the organizational communication trajectory. Then the global and local culture is discussed, as well as the glocalisation and repercussions in organizations, which gave rise to a scenary of cultural diversity and possible conflicts of that context. From the particular analysis of work, are given the implications of this encounter of multiple cultures in organizations, in addition to being presented theories of intercultural communication in trying to manage and provide the dialogue and understanding between different cultures. Finally, this study deals with the possibilities of public relations practice in interculturality, showing paths to the mediation of various interests between organizations and their audiences in the sphere of glocalization, showing the activity of International/Global public relations. It also presents the possible involvement of public relations in the management of a communication on cultural diversity scenary, showing perspectives for this activity on the theory of excellence, in order to seek understanding and understanding even in the midst of diversity

Um estudo de novos paradigmas na realização de projetos de instalação elétrica residencial (automação)

Through awareness of new trends of consumption of the population with regard to housing, comfort, entertainment, security and sustainability, it was crafted a work that set out to study and develop the concept of home automation and how it will revolutionize the electrical installation projects and energy savings. A pre-wiring project, taking into account, basically, the installed load, is presented as a basis for comparison. The protocols for communication between intelligent devices in an automation environment, used in the work, are the X-10, LonWorks and UPnP. The home network is studied and divided into subsystems, for a better understanding, which are the lighting, audio, video and multimedia system, security, air conditioning and central vacuum system, and the idea of integrated design and system integrator is introduced, showing the change necessity in the design philosophy of electrical installations. The main means of energy savings in an automated home, such as dimerization, master off and smart meters are presented and, finally, it was concluded that there is a need to structure electrical installation projects more comprehensive with regard to home automation, in order to become more efficient and useful to users
