Los montes públicos y las diversas vías de su privatización en el siglo XIX

La privatización del patrimonio público rústico y la progresiva limitación de los aprovechamientos vecinales constituyeron una pieza fundamental de la reforma agraria liberal. Ambos procesos forzaron la mercantilización de los Frutos y de la propiedad de un patrimonio ingente, desposeyendo a sus ufructuarios tradicionales. Aunque las implicaciones de ello fueron múltiples, solo me propongo abordar en este escrito dos cuestiones, la extensión que ocupaban los montes públicos, y la importancia de procedimientos privatizadores distintos a las subastas de bienes nacionales, que fueron el método regular y mayoritario de tales enajenaciones

A formação do pós-graduando em química para a docência em nível superior

The article presents a brief analysis on chemistry post-graduate students' perception on teaching in higher education. This study was done based on the context of students' formation in chemistry post-graduate programs and makes suggestions on how to improve the formation process of post-graduate students in order to decrease the rupture between teaching and research in chemistry post-graduate programs.

Influência do sulfato de condroitina na formação de filmes isolados de polimetacrilato: avaliação do índice de intumescimento e permeabilidade ao vapor d'água

Natural or modified chondroitin sulfate was incorporated in to polymethacrylate to obtain isolated films. The addition of polysaccharide to synthetic polymers occurred at different rates. Isolated films were micro and macroscopically characterized and swelling index and water vapor transmission were determined. Results indicated changed transparency and flexibility, coupled to their dependence on increase in polysaccharide concentration. A similar occurrence was reported in the permeability to water vapor and swelling degree. Films composed of modified chondroitin sulfate, 90:10 concentration, showed hydration levels, permeability and morphological properties which allow them to be applied as excipients in the development of new drug delivery systems.

Carotenóides: propriedades, aplicações e biotransformação para formação de compostos de aroma

Carotenoids are widely distributed in nature, providing yellow, orange or red color in a great number of vegetables, microorganisms and in some animals. Carotenoids act as biological antioxidants and seem to play an important role in human health by protecting cells and tissues from the damaging effects of free radicals and singlet oxygen. Several authors describe the oxidative cleavage of carotenoids in flavor compounds as occuring through chemical or photochemical degradations or through biotechnological processes. Biotransformation of carotenoids seems to be a reasonable alternative to produce flavor compounds since these compounds are considered 'natural' ingredients. In this work we describe the properties of some carotenoids, as well as biotechnological approaches to obtain its oxyfunctionalized derivatives.

Principais carbonilas no ar de locais públicos no Rio de Janeiro

An air quality evaluation of indoor environments with focus on lower carbonyls was carried out in 50 public places using TO-11A methodology. Formaldehyde levels (ranging from 12.5 to 1034 mg m-3) were above the threshold limit in 49 of 50 analyzed samples while acetaldehyde (ranging from 5.2 to 840 mg m-3) and acetone (ranging from 5.5 to 4839 mg m-3) were respectively bellow the limits of OSHA and NIOSH in all samples. However all samples were bellow the threshold limits suggested by the Brazilian legislation - NR-15. A correlation study between the carbonyls and temperature and humidity was also done.

Educação ambiental nas escolas da região de Ribeirão Preto (SP): concepções orientadoras da prática docente e reflexões sobre a formação inicial de professores de química

During short courses, 95 secondary school teachers from 49 state schools and 421 students from the Ribeirão Preto region (in Sao Paulo state, Brazil, with a population of 530,000) were asked to fill in different questionnaires. The points raised in the teacher's questionnaire were used as a guide to establish a continuous dialogue during the short courses. Most of the schools claimed to have some kind of environmental education (EE). Based on the questionnaires and dialogues we analyzed how the teachers' perceptions on EE reflect on the views secondary students hold about their own responsibility for preserving the environment. The role of universities in the preparation of chemistry teachers capable of effectively approaching EE is also discussed.

O espaço da prática de ensino e do estágio curricular nos cursos de formação de professores de química das ies públicas paulistas

The literature presents a new understanding of the teaching practice and the supervised internship.Mutual interaction between them is expected one providing subsidies to the other.The present article shows the conceptions prevailing at the São Paulo state universities regarding these activities.Students,when interviewed, report difficulties in dealing with classroom situations. It is possible to observe that chemists wish to prepare new chemists deviating from the objectives of a Chemistry course leading to teaching credentials .

Métodos simples de formação de monocristal de substância orgânica para estudo estrutural por difração de raios X

This work presents three operationally simple laboratory protocols for monocrystal growth of small-molecule organic compounds, which have been applied with success in the last ten years for the formation of single crystals for X-ray structural studies. In addition, five structure hints were formulated as general guidelines for selecting a small-molecule organic compound as a candidate for monocrystal growth: molecular weight >200 D, melting point >100 ºC, two or more aromatic rings in the structure, at least two sites for intermolecular hydrogen bond formation, and a halogen or other heavy atom in the structure.
