A quasi-experimental design was used to test the hypothesis "there is a positive relationship between theoretical and clinical exposure to psychiatric nursing and the desirability of psychiatric nursing as a career choice." Results found that overall psychiatric nursing initially emerged as being a relatively unpopular career option.

In this radical feminist investigation of impaired practice in nursing it is argued that prejudicial and discriminatory attitudes and behaviours deriving from racism, ageism and lesbian phobia constitute impaired practice in nursing. The author's vision is that society, of which nursing would be a part, would truly care for all, regardless of race, age or sexuality.

The Caregiver Assessment of Movement Participation was developed to identify children of 5-10 years old for movement participation difficulties in home contexts. Its psychometric properties were investigated including its usefulness as a screening instrument using both classical test theory methods and Rasch analysis. Results confirmed its validity and reliability.

Researching the governance frameworks supporting specialist nursing education and practice attests to deficiencies with the frameworks, and incongruence between expectations of academics, regulators and the profession for performance outcomes. The thesis argues for an evidence based governance infrastructure for national application and establishment of functional cross sectoral partnerships.

This research reports on the experiences of Canadian nursing students as they coped with learning online, exploring the strategies that they used to learn effectively. The findings identified aspects of course design and online facilitation that will help students cope with the lack of social presence in the online environment.
