Aplicações de isótopos estáveis na área da saúde no Brasil

The use of stable isotopes in Brazil is being improved, mainly through research conducted at main universities in the country. Some applications in health allow to studying, for example, processes involving synthesis and protein degradation, energy expenditure, body composition, kinetics of vitamins, mineral absorption and diagnose diseases related to Helicobacter pylori. The big motivation is to encourage the growth of investments in health in the few centers that have mass spectrometers in Brazil, as the technique is harmless to humans, in other words, no has problems to use it like when you use radioactive isotopes

Assembleias fitoplanctônicas no gradiente longitudinal barragem-jusante do reservatório de Itaipu, rio Paraná (Brasil/Paraguai)

The freshwater phytoplankton, responsible for a significant part of primary production in rivers and lakes, is of great importance for matter and energy available to other trophic levels of structuring aquatic food chains. In recent decades, the construction of dams, especially for the generation of electricity, produced changes not only in physical and chemical characteristics of rivers, but also in biocoenosis of these ecosystems. Thus, research is needed to expand the basic knowledge about these environments and subsidize actions appropriate conservation and management. Considering that lotic environments are relatively little studied, and the river-reservoir interaction, the work aims to analyze the limnological conditions and assemblies phytoplankton along the gradient established by the Itaipu reservoir and downstream stretch of the Paraná River. During two periods of the year, winter and summer, we analyzed nine sampling stations: one in lentic environment (the dam), six on the Parana River (each 5 km), at the mouth of a river Monday and another at the mouth of the Iguazu river. The phytoplankton community was composed of 315 taxa, with the class Bacillariophyceae most specious. At every point the richness was higher in summer and with a longitudinal trend in the increasing points after falling after the dam and the contribution of the tributaries. The number of taxa common to the three rivers was low in both study periods. The higher taxa can be explained by the variety of environments sampled, different residence times of water and nutrient concentrations, whereas the rivers Iguazu and Monday suffer high human influence. The greater abundance of organisms in the dam, in both periods, it should be the class Cryptophyceae contributing over 75% of total phytoplankton in point. Principais modificações na pós-graduação no Brasil e suas implicações na qualidade de vida dos professores universitários

This work aimed to point out the major changes in post-graduation and their implications on professor's well-being. For this proposal, exploratory research was carried out using books and periodicals, indexed in SciELO and Web of Science. We tried to emphasize research published in the last decade. The subject is difficult to bound, as the definition of quality of life itself depends on geographical and cultural aspects. Thus, the main aspects that surround this controversial issue were selected, with no claim to exhaust it. It is pretty clean that university managers believe that the university must meet the productivist requirements. Therefore, university and undergraduate, which in the recent past were spaces of thinking, became a series production space. In this scenario it is not enough pure research and long-term, but the rapid and direct research. Also, some studies already show the relationship between the work of public universities and health issues. It is believed that the deleterious relationship between the productivist pressure and the teacher's quality of life will be quite evident in a near future

Ocorrência de pesquisas narrativas sobre formação de professores de Ciências e Matemática no Brasil, de 2000 a 2010

In this article, we present results that express the occurrence of narratives researches in the form of theses and dissertations in postgraduate programs in Brazil, from 2000 to 2010 in the Teaching of Science and Mathematics area. We consulted the Student Registration, on the site of the Coordination of Improvement of Higher Education Personnel, through the keywords: narrative research, narrative inquiry and teacher training. Through reading the abstracts, we identified the area of knowledge, the IES and the supervisor. Of the 162 (one hundred, sixty two) academic productions identified, 31 (thirty-one) are in the area of Science and Mathematics teaching. The data obtained point to the existence of groups of studies and research training in the country engaged in narrative research in Mathematics and Science Teaching, in line with teacher training.

A comunicação pública e o desenvolvimento e difusão da leitura no Brasil: estratégias da campanha 'Mãe, lê pra mim' do insituito Pré Livro

As transformações que tornam a sociedade mais complexa, configuradas na Sociedade da Informação, possibilitam novas formas de acesso as informações e conhecimentos que se manifestam em diferentes rela- ções sociais. No Brasil a valorização da leitura é um tema bastante recente, já que o Plano Nacional do Livro e da Leitura – PNLL - é de 2006. Tem como prioridade transformar a qualidade da capacidade leitora do Brasil e trazer a leitura para o dia-a-dia do brasileiro. Um dos eixos do plano é a Valorização da leitura e da comunicação, com ações para criar consciência sobre o valor social do livro e da leitura. O plano aborda a comunicação relacionada principalmente a dois aspectos: acesso à informação e comunicação sobre a leitura. A comunicação está sempre no centro da existência para qualquer sociedade, em desenvolvimento ou não. A partir de pesquisas sobre a leitura, o Instituto Pró-livro, uma entidade de caráter privado sem fins lucrativos, cujo objetivo principal é o fomento à leitura e à difusão do livro, utiliza-se de diversas estratégias de comunicação pública. Dentre essas experiências destacamos a Campanha “Mãe, lê pra mim?”, como uma prática de comunicação que busca levar informações aos cidadãos a partir do entendimento de se ouvir “as vozes locais”.

Panorama da pesquisa em Design no Brasil: a contribuição dos Programas de Pós-Graduação em Design nas pesquisas científicas e no desenvolvimento da área

With respect to design, scientific production in the area helps consolidate it as a scientific field can contribute to the development of society through the promotion of the construction of critical knowledge of researchers. Scientific conferences and journals, periodicals and books consist of some of the effective actions for the exchange of knowledge. Through these channels the results of research are disseminated, shared and put into discussion, collaborating with the learning process and cooperation among sectors. Thus, this paper reflects on the evolution of scientific research in the area and attempts to give an overview of current research of Design in Brazil and its correlation with the Graduate Program in Design.

Privatização da educação no Brasil: como o tema vem sendo tratado em publicações de periódicos que estão no Scielo

Education is a basic right of every citizen guaranteed by the Federal Constitution of 1988, so that everyone is able to exercise their civil, political, economic and social. But in Brazil, this right has not yet been effected in all its concreteness and current privatization strategy have brought change to the right to education. Recent research from GREPPE (Group of Studies and Research in Educational Policy) identify different modalities of privatization of basic education, with emphasis on the privatization of supply, management and organization of the pedagogical work through the adoption of private educational systems. This study aimed to identify and discuss how the issue of privatization of education in Brazil is currently being treated in journal articles contained in the database SciELO - Scientific Electronic Library Online. SciELO is an electronic library covering a selected collection of Brazilian scientific journals. The research is qualitative and the same descriptors privatization were used + education
