Every week the General Assembly is in session the South Carolina House of Representatives, Office of Research publishes the Legislative Update, a digest of action on the floor of the House and action in full House committees.

Retail Food Establishments: Sushi Rice Guidelines

This regulation explains that retail food establishments that prepare sushi rice must take additional measures to ensure the safety of those that consume it. In addition to the standard temperature requirements, sushi rice safety may also be controlled by time or pH standards. The Department of Health and Environmental Control requires one of the following methods be implemented for safe sushi rice production: Maintaining Temperature Control, Use Time as a Public Health Control, Product Assessment (PA) & pH Monitoring, Submit a HACCP Plan to the Department for Review.

The Columbia Canal study

The consulting firm of Wilbur Smith and Associates was contracted by the South Carolina Department of Archives and History and the city of Columbia through the City's Landmarks Commission to prepare a feasibility study and conceptual master plan for lands adjoining and related to the Columbia Canal. The study area for the project includes the waterfront on both sides of the three Columbia rivers from a mile south of the Blossom Street Bridge on the Congaree to about a half mile south of I-20 on the Broad, and to about a half mile above the Riverbanks Zoo on the Saluda. The recommendations resulting from this study appear in Chapter 10 and are the conclusions of the study team's evaluations summarized i n the nine preceding chapters.

A study of costs in higher institutions of learning

This is a questionnaire devised by the author that was sent state colleges as well as colleges in the Southeast concerned the inventory of the institution, sources and amounts of income, expenditures for 1912-24, types of schools, departments and courses at the institution and general information. Graphs was designed with the answers supplied by the institution.

Triennial 92

Triennial 92 is a joint project of two state agencies, the South Carolina Arts Commission and the South Carolina State Museum. The exhibition celebrates the Arts Commission's 25th year of support of the arts in South Carolina and marks the fourth year of a successful series of exhibitions co-sponsored by the Arts Commission and the State Museum.

Triennial 98

Nineteen ninety-eight marks the third anniversary of TRIENNIAL which was started in 1992 as a joint project of the South Carolina Arts Commission and the South Carolina State Museum. This issue highlights artists exhibiting their work in the Triennial exhibition as well as a catalogue of their work.

Citizens of a county, depending upon the needs within the county, may impose one or several local sales and use taxes. Attached are three charts that provide guidance concerning the various types of local sales and use taxes collected by the Department of Revenue and the types of exemptions allowed under each tax.
