Guia para a transcrição fonética do dialeto paulista

Designed to allow reading, the writing system is a form of representation of speech. However, it does not represent phonetic sounds exactly. This task is realized by phonetic alphabets, with specific phonetic transcriptions. The International Phonetic Association Alphabet (IPA) is most currently used. This alphabet is based on the articulatory possibilities of man. The aim of the present work is to write a phonetic guide to transcribe the Paulista dialect. A phonetic transcription is important in the creation of dictionaries and in the production of speech technologies. It has been established rules to guide the transcriptions. Efeito da silibinina sobre o fator de transcrição nuclear-kB e produção de citocinas inflamatórias por células mononucleares de gestantes portadoras de pré-eclâmpsia

Pre-eclampsia (PE) is a complication of human pregnancy characterized by hypertension and proteinuria after 20 weeks of gestation. Its incidence varies from 5% to 7% of pregnancies and is a major cause of morbidity and maternal and fetal mortality. This is a multisystemic disease, with focus on vascular dysfunction and is closely related to the exacerbated activation of the immune system. In addition to increased activation of monocytes and granulocytes, there is an elevated production of proinflammatory cytokines in pregnant women with PE. The nuclear transcription factor-kB (NF-kB) is present in the cells of the immune system and is responsible for transcription of genes related to inflammation. Whereas the PE is associated with intense inflammatory response, the use of substances modulating the activity of NF-kB factor could be useful in alleviating the inflammation present in these patients. Silibinin is the main component of silymarin, a polyphenolic extract obtained from fruits and seeds of Sylibum marianum with potent hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic activities. The silibinin mechanism of action includes the ability to inhibit NF-kB activation and, consequently, its migration to the nucleus. The objective of this study was to assess whether silibinin modulates the activity of NF-kB and the production of inflammatory cytokines in mononuclear cells of patients with PE. We evaluated 34 pregnant women with PE, 20 normotensive pregnant women (GN) and 15 non-pregnant women (NG). Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) were obtained from those groups of women and cultured in the presence or absence of silibinin (5 uM or 50 uM) and stimulated or not with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) for 18 h to obtain supernatant for determination of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-1 (IL-1β) by enzyme immunoassay (ELISA). iMusic Education: um estudo bibliográfico sobre a interação entre jovens, novas tecnologias e educação musical

Este trabalho é de natureza qualitativa e consiste em um estudo bibliográfico referente à interação entre jovens, educação musical e novas tecnologias. A partir da análise dos textos levantados, procura-se compreender como educadores musicais posicionam-se frente às tecnologias em suas aulas; e o quão significativas elas podem ser quando utilizadas. Inicialmente, o procedimento metodológico se deu através da definição de TICs e de uma contextualização sobre a presença das tecnologias na escuta, na educação e nas práticas musicais. Em seguida, utilizou-se quatro artigos publicados na Associação Brasileira de Educação Musical (ABEM), os quais foram analisados e discutidos de acordo com o pensamento vigente na bibliografia estudada, procurando verificar o estado da produção e aplicação de conhecimentos sobre o tema nesta área. Por fim, constata-se que a presença das tecnologias no ensino musical implica em mudanças no papel do professor e na matriz curricular dos cursos de Licenciatura em Música.

Jazz brings to the surface discussions about globalization and its unfolding. The development of such music style allows a reflection about the processes that influence 20th century culture, thus enabling a closer look into debates that involve cultural industrialization and standardization in such context. Horkheimer‟s and Adorno‟s work deal with this theme, considering culture as something standardized, a result of the process that fits into the industrial production mold. Morin goes further in this discussion, suggesting the emergence of a mass culture as a third culture. Later, Latin-American authors Ortiz and Canclini bring up new tones and approaches to the globalization through culture theme

Aspectos formais da trilha musical de Yasunori Mitsuda para o game Chrono Cross e sua interação com o enredo

This work has the aim of evince compositional tools used in the development of musical scores for role-playing videogames through the analysis of Yasunori Mitsuda’s music for Chrono Cross (1999). This research is divided in two main parts: the first traces a historic path of the RPG genre on videogame consoles, since its birth as a tabletop game in the decade of 1970 until its consolidation on 3D game machines released in the 1990’s. The focus of this historical study concentrates on the aesthetics of this kind of game and on the multiple relations it settles with sound throughout the years. The second part is an analytical work on an assortment of pieces by Mitsuda for the aforementioned game, bringing up the most interesting aspects of the connections established between these compositions and the whole game.

Response of cardiac autonomic modulation after a single exposure to musical auditory stimulation

The acute effects after exposure to different styles of music on cardiac autonomic modulation assessed through heart rate variability (HRV) analysis have not yet been well elucidated. We aimed to investigate the recovery response of cardiac autonomic modulation in women after exposure to musical auditory stimulation of different styles. The study was conducted on 30 healthy women aged between 18 years and 30 years. We did not include subjects having previous experience with musical instruments and those who had an affinity for music styles. The volunteers remained at rest for 10 min and were exposed to classical baroque (64-84 dB) and heavy metal (75-84 dB) music for 10 min, and their HRV was evaluated for 30 min after music cessation. We analyzed the following HRV indices: Standard deviation of normal-to-normal (SDNN) intervals, root mean square of successive differences (RMSSD), percentage of normal-to-normal 50 (pNN50), low frequency (LF), high frequency (HF), and LF/HF ratio. SDNN, LF in absolute units (ms (2) ) and normalized (nu), and LF/HF ratio increased while HF index (nu) decreased after exposure to classical baroque music. Regarding the heavy metal music style, it was observed that there were increases in SDNN, RMSSD, pNN50, and LF (ms (2) ) after the musical stimulation. In conclusion, the recovery response of cardiac autonomic modulation after exposure to auditory stimulation with music featured an increased global activity of both systems for the two musical styles, with a cardiac sympathetic modulation for classical baroque music and a cardiac vagal tone for the heavy metal style.
