Femininos de montar - Uma etnografia sobre experiências de gênero entre drag queens

The paper presents a discussion about gender and body in the drag queens experience at Natal city (RN). From the different concepts that characterizes the identity processes on subjects who perform gender transformation (transvestites, transsexuals and female impersonators), the justification for studying the drag character is observed as a means to understand matters that are important when you take such a position. Therefore, there is a need for a linkage between the various concepts responsible for this definition, in addition to considering the historical and cultural process responsible for the creation of such categories, identities and stereotypes among these individuals. In this sense it will be possible to carry out a critical analysis on the different social loads present in each representation, and understand what is at stake in the attribution of classifications and terminologies that are applied to different expressions of metamorphosis. This ethnography considers the debate from a field research conducted at LGBT social establishments and other performance spaces of these people, verifying their dynamics in these places and investigating relationships between performers, personas and characters and also backstage scene in which they participate

On the Economic Aspects of Unemployment: The Case of Consumer Confidence

Unemployment is related to economic, political and social aspects. One of the least analysed economic aspects is the relationship of unemployment to the level of confidence that characterizes some macroeconomic relevant agents, such as consumers or investors. Expanding previous work on this matter, this chapter considers a fuzzy logic methodology in order to uncover the relationship that exists between the unemployment rate and the consumer confidence level for a large group of European Union countries, in the period 1995-2015. It is concluded that this relationship is stronger than apparently it looks, especially in certain countries. This result should therefore be used as an extra argument in making economic decisions leading to the diminishment of unemployment, which will boost economic confidence.

On the Political Aspects of Unemployment: The Case of Election Results

Unemployment is related to economic, political and social aspects. One of the least analysed political aspects is the relationship that, from a partisan or ideological perspective, should exist between the election results and the aging level of the voters, which is to be reflected in different electoral costs of unemployment. This chapter updates previous work on the subject, using a spatial econometrics methodology to estimate the relationship between the levels of aging and the election results that were obtained in the most recent elections that took place in Portugal, i.e. the October 2015 legislative elections. The results confirm the hypothesis that the level of unemployment involves a higher (resp. lower) electoral cost the less (resp. more) aged is the electorate.

On the Social Aspects of Unemployment: The Case of Life Satisfaction

Unemployment is related to economic, political and social aspects. One of the least analysed social aspects is the relationship between unemployment and the (individual) perceived levels of well-being, such as life satisfaction or happiness. This chapter complements previous work on the subject, using a panel-data econometrics methodology to analyze the relationship between unemployment and life satisfaction in a wide range of countries worldwide. The results confirm that unemployment has a negative effect, statistically significant, on life satisfaction, either for men or for women.

The religious plurality has been increasingly intense in Brazil, while it has served as an object of study in various fields of knowledge. In this context, this paper aims to point out the general heterogeneity among experienced growth of Protestant and evangelical denominations, especially those who claim to be inclusive by attending to human diversity, seeking to understand the relationship between religion and homosexuality. Specific objectives aim to understand the functioning and speeches produced by Comunidade Cristã Nova Esperança in Natal. The theoretical framework was seated in the works of Bento (2008), Lima (2009), Goffman (2001), Natividade (2008), Musskopf (2008), Helminiak (1998), Foucault (1997), among others. We tried to discuss the trajectory and how is the process of organization of the Comunidade Cristã Nova Esperança in Natal, the social advances that have reached homosexuals in our country, how this institution has contributed to the shift in paradigm in Christianity in respect to matters pertaining to religion and homosexuality, and the meaning of being a homosexual christian from the viewpoint perceived by social subjects living this experience

Spatial and temporal country-wide survey of temephos resistance in Brazilian populations of Aedes aegypti

The organophosphate temephos has been the main insecticide used against larvae of the dengue and yellow fever mosquito ( Aedes aegypti ) in Brazil since the mid-1980s. Reports of resistance date back to 1995; however, no systematic reports of widespread temephos resistance have occurred to date. As resistance investigation is paramount for strategic decision-making by health officials, our objective here was to investigate the spatial and temporal spread of temephos resistance in Ae. aegypti in Brazil for the last 12 years using discriminating temephos concentrations and the bioassay protocols of the World Health Organization. The mortality results obtained were subjected to spatial analysis for distance interpolation using semi-variance models to generate maps that depict the spread of temephos resistance in Brazil since 1999. The problem has been expanding. Since 2002-2003, approximately half the country has exhibited mosquito populations resistant to temephos. The frequency of temephos resistance and, likely, control failures, which start when the insecticide mortality level drops below 80%, has increased even further since 2004. Few parts of Brazil are able to achieve the target 80% efficacy threshold by 2010/2011, resulting in a significant risk of control failure by temephos in most of the country. The widespread resistance to temephos in Brazilian Ae. aegypti populations greatly compromise effective mosquito control efforts using this insecticide and indicates the urgent need to identify alternative insecticides aided by the preventive elimination of potential mosquito breeding sites.

Escola Comunitária de São Miguel de Machede: 15 anos de educação não formal

A presente comunicação apresenta a forma como a Escola Comunitária de São Miguel de Machede tem vindo a consolidar, na realidade de um pequeno território, um modelo de desenvolvimento local e de intervenção social, em que se assume a Educação como elementro matricial em todas as atividades e projetos. Um desenvolvimento centrado na construção, local, participada e crítica, dos conhecimentos e das capacidades necessárias para resolver os problemas das comunidades, recorrendo, em primeiro lugar, aos recursos endógenos, valorizando a diversidade existente e potenciando as qualificações académicas e profissionais, a inovação e a criatividade dos mais jovens e os saberes empíricos e a experiência dos mais adultos e idosos.

A certificação de adquiridos experienciais e suas consequências nas trajectórias de vida: o caso do Alentejo, no período 2000-2005

A partir de 1999, com a criação da Agência Nacional de Educação e Formação de Adultos (ANEFA), começa a emergir, no território alentejano, em particular, e no país, em geral, um novo dispositivo educacional que visava promover o reconhecimento, validação e certificação das competências (RVCC) e conhecimento adquiridos ao longo da vida. Neste contexto, em Portugal, surgiram, em 2000, os primeiros Centros de RVCC com o objetivo de reconhecer, validar e certificar as competências dos adultos, com idade igual ou superior a 18 anos, que não possuíssem a escolaridade básica. Todo este programa de qualificação visava aumentar os níveis de certificação escolar, promover a continuação de processos subsequentes de educação e formação e aumentar empregabilidade e mobilidade profissional e social. Na presente comunicação, apresentam-se alguns dos resultados do estudo dos impactos, pessoais, profissionais e sociais, do processo de RVCC no universo de indivíduos que, em toda a região Alentejo, no período 2000-2005, nele tendo participado, viram certificadas as suas competências e, em consequência, alterados os respetivos níveis de escolaridade. A investigação que suporta a comunicação é de natureza descritiva e assume uma base metodológica quantitativa, com o recurso à aplicação de questionário a todo o universo.

Psicomotricidade na promoção de competências pessoais e sociais : intervenção com jovens adultos em acompanhamento no âmbito de medidas de execução na comunidade

O presente relatório descreve as atividades realizadas no âmbito do Mestrado em Reabilitação Psicomotora, Ramo de Aprofundamento de Competências Profissionais da Faculdade de Motricidade Humana, realizado na Direção Geral de Reinserção e Serviços Prisionais, Equipa Lisboa 1. O trabalho pressupôs a conceção e implementação de um Programa de Competências Pessoais e Sociais, dirigido a jovens adultos em acompanhamento no âmbito de medidas de execução na comunidade. O Programa encontra-se dividido em três áreas de intervenção: Comunicação Interpessoal, Autorregulação e Resolução de problemas e é composto por 22 sessões, tendo sido implementado na Casa de São Bento, a oito sujeitos, com idades compreendidas entre os 18 e 25 anos. Os resultados obtidos na intervenção permitiram observar melhorias, tanto a nível relacional, como emocional e comportamental, verificando-se uma evolução positiva por parte dos participantes. Na parte final deste relatório é realizada uma análise dos resultados obtidos, por forma a avaliar o impacto do programa, e são apresentadas as dificuldades, conclusões e sugestões para intervenções futuras.
