Esse artigo propõe que a noção de transexualidade seja discutida a partir de vários aspectos que ela implica. O objetivo é problematizar a escuta clínica que poderia se deixar influenciar apenas pelo viés patológico, sem levar em conta o panorama atual em que a transexualidade se insere. Propomos que a transexualidade seja entendida como um conceito guarda-chuva, que abriga diferentes formas de manifestar o gênero e com variado grau de intervenção ou modificação corporal. Abordamos a rigidez dos critérios diagnósticos, a concepção de gênero, a precocidade no tratamento da transexualidade, a influência da mídia e teorizações sobre a origem da transexualidade. Destacamos o sofrimento psíquico imposto pelo campo da saúde ao estabelecer padrões de coerência entre sexo e gênero como sendo da ordem do impossível. Escutar cada pessoa transexual em sua singularidade, sem descartar a cirurgia de redesignação sexual como possível solução, nos parece ser a postura mais adequada ao trabalho psicanalítico.

The reflex of social and cultural changes in discursive practices can indicate that language has a fundamental role in transforming the society and attempts of defining the directions of changes must include new forms of language practices. One of these forms concerns to computer media in teaching-learning process, showing how technology and culture interact in a significant way to interfere in language uses. In this context, it has been developed in UNESP/Assis linked to the Center for Language and Teacher Development the project Teletandem Brasil: Foreign Languages for All as a new practice of language teachinglearning through technological resources. The present paper aims to present a description of the teletandem sessions as a discursive gender according to the Bakhtin’s gender theory. The data was collected during the second semester of 2010, in sessions of interaction with an American university. The considerations are directed by the following questions: (a) how are the statements of a session discursively organized; (b) what kind of relationship the partners have with their mother language when they teach it as a foreign language, in this context. The analysis allowed us to conclude that: (a) the sessions can characterize a hybrid and secondary gender in this specific area of human activity, even the partners still find difficulties in this gender domain; (b) the teletandem sessions constitute an important instrument for the critical language awareness between the partners.

The aim of this paper is to evaluate the Acordo Ortográfico da Língua Portuguesa within a historic context that continually demands simplification and unification to the orthographic fixations. The theoretical and methodological orientation is based on the metaorthography and the linguistic historiography directed towards the language orthographic issue. With this focus, a review of the Portuguese language orthographic agreements is done, paying attention not to the details of the several changes, but to the directions that governed all these orthographic agreements, concluding with an evaluation of the historical validity of this new measure.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the vertical and horizontal dentoskeletal changes induced by the Klammt Open Elastic Activator in the treatment of the Class II Division 1 malocclusion. The sample of 34 children was divided into two groups of 17 subjects each (ten girls, seven boys), matched by age and gender and with an initial mean age of 8.5 years. The data was analyzed using a Student's t-test for intragroup and intergroup comparison. The results showed that the appliance promoted dentoalveolar restriction of the maxilar growth within normal anteroposterior and vertical growth of the maxillary apical base; increment in the vertical displacement the mandibular symphysis associated with normal horizontal growth of the mandible; palatal tipping of the upper incisors; restriction of the anterior migration of the upper molars; greater eruption pattern and normal anterior displacement of the lower incisors and molars. It was concluded that Klammt appliance induce changes that are predominantly horizontal dentoalveolar in upper arch and vertical dentoalveolar in lower arch and vertical skeletal changes in the mandible.

The deficiency of data in the literature took us to evaluate the Bionator of Balters appliance in the alterations of the dimensions and the relationship of the dental archs in children with malocclusion Class II, division 1 of Angle. The experimental group was constituted by 36 pairs cast Caucasians patients, aged between 7 years and 10 months - 11 years and 8 months, being 10 females and 8 males. The Levene´s test showed statistical evidences of likeness among the groups. Statistical analysis was preceded and showed significant alterations (p < 0,005) in the variable indicatives of maxillary first molars' distance, overjet, upper arch total length, upper arch anterior length, right molar relationship, left molar relationship, right canine relationship and left canine relationship. On the other hand, there wasn't significant alteration related to the lower arch and maxillary intercanines distance. The Balters' Bionator appliance had a favorable effect in the improvement of the correction of the malocclusion in Class II (foremost in molars and canines relationship) and transversal increase of the upper arch, mainly in the posterior area of arch.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of the working angle variation of the magnetoestritive ultrasonic (MU) and air polishing devices (APD) on the roughness and wear of dental root. Fifty bovine incisive teeth were used in this study. The proximal surfaces of the teeth were divided in three regions: coronal, median, and an apical. The coronal region was treated with a manual scaler, the apical region was treated with APD or with a MU and the medium region was maintained untreated to serve as a control. The teeth were divided in 11 groups according to the treatment applied: MU-0º; MU-30º; MU-45º; MU-60º; MU-90º; AP-0º; AP-30º; AP-45º; AP-60º; AP-90º; MS: manual scaler. To the statistical analysis, data submitted to the Anova and Tukey's test (p < 0.05). The manual curette promotes less roughness and higher tooth wear in comparison with the both ultrasonic and air polishing devices (p < 0.05). The angles of 45º, 60º and 90º caused higher rate of tooth wear and roughness when the MU was used (p < 0.05), while the angle of 90° caused a higher tooth wear than the angle of 30° when the APD was used (p < 0.05). The working angle variation influenced the tooth wear and roughness promoted by MU, whereas when using APD, the working angle variation influenced only the tooth wear.

The Burnout Syndrome is considered a psychosocial problem to which teachers are routinely exposed. This study was conducted to estimate the prevalence of burnout in Dentistry teachers and its relation to relevant socio-demographic variables. The participants were 70 teachers from the undergraduate Dentistry Course, Faculty of Dentistry of Araraquara – UNESP. Oldenburg Burnout Inventory (OLBI) was used. The prevalence of burnout was estimated. In order to compare performed. Mean age of participants was 46.0 ± 6.1 and teaching experience was 19.6±7.6 years. The prevalence of burnout was 17.1%. Low mean scores for Exhaustion (2.11±0.61) and Disengagement (1.73±0.50) were observed. There reported taking medication due to work (p=0.008) and for those who have thought about quit teaching (p=0.001). A catarata é a afecção da lente mais comum em cão, caracterizada por uma opacidade do cristalino e alteração de comportamento devido ao déficit visual. O exame oftálmico adequado e completo da lente permite a classificação adequada da catarata auxiliando na escolha do melhor tratamento de cada paciente. O tratamento preconizado para a catarata é o procedimento cirúrgico, que associado com o uso de anti-inflamatórios, midriáticos e antibióticos pré-operatórios e pós-operatórios melhoram os resultados visuais e previnem algumas complicações. A remoção da lente pode ser feita pelas técnicas de discisão, extração intracapsular, extração extracapsular e facoemulsificação, sendo que a escolha correta da técnica para cada caso contribui para o sucesso do procedimento e diminui as complicações pós-operatórias, porém as técnicas de escolha para a remoção da catarata são a extração extracapsular e a facoemulsificação. O objetivo da revisão sistemática é comparar as complicações de duas das técnicas para extração da catarata, extração extracapsular e facoemulcificação, ressaltando qual a técnica que apresentou menores complicações em cães. Foram analisados dez artigos pesquisados nas bases de dado PubMed e Google Acadêmico, sendo complementados com o uso de livros. Foram encontradas como complicações perda da visão, glaucoma, descolamento de retina, hemorragia intraocular, ruptura da cápsula posterior, alterações corneanas, endoftalmites, sinéquia posterior, fotofobia, blefaroespasmo e hiperemia conjuntiva. Literature is a treasure for humanity and for the school. It causes psychological function of the individual, inserts it in the context of various cultures and historic moments, and, by having formative nature, School and Literature are intrinsecally related institutions. But literature is not the end of the first teaching, while the school has the purpose of teaching literature. Literature is not a source of good leads standards; have to be educated without this process to misrepresent. Thus, it was estalished is to investigate the inadequacy of schooling of Children's Literature pointed out by Soares in 2006, is still reality that becomes present in school or if there was any change in that status. Specific objectives were established: 1)Scanning separately in each of the books education system, from first to fifth grade of elementary school, according to the following categories involving education of literary reading: selection of genres and authors; presentation of these genres and no change from one genre to another; 2)analyze the way children's literature is presented by note-books analyzed education system develop the sensitivity of the student for pluris-signification and expressiveness of literary language, while fulfilling its social function and knowledge; 3)review the comprehension activities of literary reading proposed by notebooks to seize their educational goals. Therefore, we carried out basic theoretical research, demonstrating the functions of literature and the teaching of literature in school, and documentary research. Besides producing a vast literary work, Angela Carter (1940-1992) participated of the screenplay’s production for two movies based on her books, The Company of Wolves and The Magic Toyshop. Either through the influence that cinema had in her life or through the very own style of her writing, the relation of the British author with the seventh art is visible. Considering the importance of significations in literary works, this paper proposes a comparative study between Angela Carter’s The Magic Toyshop (1967) and the film of the same title, based on Carter’s novel, directed by David Wheatley and produced by Granada Television, in 1987. Based on Tania Carvalhal’s conception about intertextuality and film theories, the focus of this paper is the gender study, since its ideology is subscribed, represented and reproduced in every cultural practice, including literature and cinema. The characters construction in both cases, especially the female characters, is filled with symbols which are going to bring the film closer to the literary work and contribute to express the critics suggested in the work’s leading: the complaint to the patriarchal system. However, given the different nature of each work, it is necessary to stress that this present comparison doesn’t intend to establish a total identification between novel and film, but to set a dialogue between both, observing the approximation and distance of these two instances.

This work investigates the gender effect on visual demand of drivers for dynamic maps at different cartographic scales presented In-Vehicle Route Guidance and Navigation System (RGNS). A group of 52 subjects (26 males and 26 females) took part in an experiment performed in a low-cost driving simulator. the driver's task consisted of navigating in an unknown route using a RGNS prototype which presents maps at two different cartographic scales. This paper replicates the known phenomenon of significant relationships between gender and performance at visual-spatial tasks issue. Our results show that drivers of different genders present distinct levels of visual demand both due to the cartographic scales and maneuver complexity variation. These discussed results are based upon individual differences in terms of spatial ability and spatial anxiety.
