This paper discusses a study done with chinchillas and their ability to organize speech sounds into auditory concepts.

This paper is a review of a study to evaluate the usefulness of a laboratory approach to auditory training with hearing impaired children.

This paper reviews a study of tonal precepts such as pitch and timbre as a means of facilitating auditory discrimination tasks.

This dissertation examined whether a hearing impairment of the auditory end-organ has the same or a differential effect on the place and periodicity processes. Differential sensitivities for four normally hearing listeners and for both ears of five patients with unilateral Meniere’s disease were measured for tonal frequency and rate of sinusoidally amplitude-modulated noise at common frequencies and rates of the stimulus.

Alpha-synuclein has been implicated in the cellular mechanisms that control auditory sensitivity. In other systems it can also confer protection against cellular injury. Auditory brainstem response thresholds and immunohistochemistry were used to assess the ability of alpha-synuclein to protect against oxidative damage to the cochlea.

Cortical auditory evoked potentials were recorded in cochlear implant recipients and in individuals with normal hearing using a speech stimulus. Responses were acquired over two test sessions to investigate between group differences and test repeatability. Results indicate significant differences in N1-P2 latency and amplitude measures between cochlear implant recipients and individuals with normal hearing.
