/ABSTRACT: This study presents the analysis of psychometric properties of the Questionário de Cooperação Organizacional (QCO) (Organizational Cooperation Questionnaire). lt was applied to a sample of 300 employees from the Reception and Urbanization departments of 70 continental portuguese town-halls. Procedures of Exploratory Factorial Analysis, Maximum Likelihood extraction method and Varimax with Kaiser Normalization rotation method were performed. Results indicate that the QCO is capable of measuring 3 organizational cooperation dimensions, which explain 49,36% of the total variance. Reliability statistics were very satisfactory, in which dimension 1 "Cooperation structured by formal regulamentation" has a Cronbach's Alpha of 0,875, dimension 2, "The cooperation originated from the interdependence by the articulation amongst unique individuals" 0,864, and dimension 3 "Orientation to society of singular contribution through cooperation" 0,787.

Palavras-chave: Engenheiro, Arquitectura do Ferro, Évora, Palácio D. Manuel, Paços do Concelho Abstract From the second half of the nineteenth century onwards, there was the introduction of new materials, such as cast iron, steel and glass, in the remodeling or in the construction of buildings that sought to satisfy the new needs of urban management and the creation of leisure spaces and sociability. In these interventions that were marked by the iron architecture, the engineers, a professional group with technical skills that enabled them to work with these materials, played a decisive role. In the city of Évora this link between the utilization of new materials and engineers, is visible in the role that engineer Adriano Monteiro had in the conversion of the D. Manuel Palace and in the remodeling of the Town Hall building. Keywords: Engineers, Iron Architecture, Évora, D. Manuel Palace, City Hall

This communication develops the process of interventions of the Renaissance fortress of a new plant built in 1554–57 in Santa Pola. It is one of the earliest examples built with reference to military architecture theoretical treaties (XV–XVI) and best preserved. The study runs its own story from its initial military use, through the use of civil equipment until the final cultural and Museum Center. First, the project of Italian origin is examined and its use as barracks for troops for a duration of three centuries (1557–1850), pointing out the architectural constants of war machinery in a defense position and its origin as a rainwater collector and cistern: a perfect square with two bastions in which a plan of the uprising is preserved (1778). Secondly, we study the changes in the mentioned architecture throughout a century and a half (1850–1990) after its change of ownership (from the state to the municipality), and as a result of the new use as a city hall and public endowment: a market and health and leisure centre, which meant the demolition of defensive elements and the opening up to the outside of the inner parade ground. And thirdly, the new transfer of the municipal offices brings in the beginning of a project of transformations (1990–2015) that retrieves the demolished elements at the same time as it assigns the entire fort for a cultural centre: exhibition, research and history museum, promoting the identity between the citizens and the building which stands in the foundations of their city. The conclusions take us through an interesting route that goes from the approach of defensive tactics, its use as administrative headquarters to the current cultural policy of preservation. In addition, all the known plans of the fort are recovered (of military, civil and cultural use), some unpublished, as well as the project of the North wing that has guided the last operation and which has been set as a pattern of reference.

This article analyses the context of production and local situations of appropriation and resignification related to the folk song “Fire on Animaná” as well as the request and mobilization (“The animanazo”) provoked by this song in order to examine different mechanisms and foundations by which a population connect with an event from its community past, identifying with this and taking it in a specific way. In this article we combine discourse analysis of the song and of interviews to participants in this event with the reconstruction —through ethnographic observation— of how to use this song.

This book is a thorough investigation of the relationship between land use planning and the railways in Britain, through review of the factors affecting the two sectors and their integration during the period of public ownership. The rationale behind the book is explained as a timely analysis of the dynamic correlation involving town planning and management of the railway in a period when growing congestion on the road network is forcing people to look for alternative modes and capacity is badly needed to accommodate this increased demand for travel. The book calls for a modal shift from road to rail for passenger and freight traffic.
