Wybory do Dumy Państwowej z 2007 r. nie zmieniły układu sił politycznych. Skład parlamentu pozostał prawie takim, jaki był przed wyborami. Jednak wyniki były dość ważne jako świadectwo stabilizacji systemu politycznego: kompozycja sił politycznych pozostała niezmieniona. Znaczenie Dumy, powołanej w toku wyborów z grudnia 2007 r., prawdopodobnie będzie słabło. Parlament stał się jeszcze mniej samodzielny, jeszcze bardziej posłuszny wobec władzy wykonawczej. Można nawet pokusić się o stwierdzenie, że Duma rosyjska coraz to bardziej przypomina Radę Naczelną ZSRR do roku 1989.

The Terrorism Virus: Contemporary Traits and Mechanisms

In order to present and understand the nature of modern terrorism it is important to realize its key properties as well the mechanisms that shape terrorism. Selected properties and mechanisms shaping modern terrorism which can be exemplified by the following: evolutionary nature of terrorism, asymmetry of terrorism, interferentiality of terrorism, multitude of components of terrorism, diffusion of terrorism, duality of terrorism, positive dimension of terrorism, terrorist as the system, diversity of terrorist activity goals, changeability of terrorist threat, the broad and narrow dimension of terrorism, counter-anti-terrorism, the confrontational and cooperational character of relations, calculation and operational strategy, disintegrational nature of terrorism, multidisciplinarity of terrorism, horizontal and vertical dimension of terrorism and a the few other traits or mechanisms.

Współczesny odbiorca sztuki znajduje się w niespotykanej wcześniej sytuacji, a jego status trudno jednoznacznie określić. Z jednej strony,bywa lekceważony,staje się przedmiotem ataków i manipulacji,z drugiej zaś-podkreśla się jego podmiotowość. Wzajemne relacje elementów triady artysta-dzieło-odbiorca podlegają ciągłym i trudnym do przewidzenia zmianom. Wyrazem tego procesu może być to,że artyści,kuratorzy i krytycy będący aktywnie zaangażowani w kreowanie obrazu sztuki są,co często bywa pomijane,jednocześnie jej istotnymi odbiorcami.Czy w takiej rzeczywistości można mówić o wyłanianiu się nowego schematu, z którego odbiorca niezwiązany ze światem sztuki jest wykluczony? Monografia "Co z tym odbiorcą? Wokół zagadnienia odbioru sztuki" stanowi próbę interdyscyplinarnej refleksji nad postawionym w tytule pytaniem. Przedstawia analizy procesów zachodzących współcześnie wokół zjawiska odbioru sztuki,przyglądając mu się z perspektywy socjologii,historii sztuki,kulturoznawstwa,estetyki.

Unia Europejska wobec nowych tworów państwowych (casus Kosowa, Abchazji i Osetii południowej)

W przypadku niejednolitego stanowiska państw członkowskich Unii Europejskiej wobec Kosowa, osłabieniu ulega prestiż i siła oddziaływania Unii na arenie międzynarodowej. W odniesieniu do problemu Abchazji i Osetii Południowej natomiast, działania UE obrazują, że samo wyrażenie zainteresowania określonym problemem oraz udzielanie ‘apolitycznej’ pomocy finansowej, którym nie towarzyszą wyraźnie i precyzyjnie zdefiniowane cele polityczne, działalność instytucji wyposażonych w silny mandat oraz proces aktywnych negocjacji, nie przyczynia się do rozwiązania palącego problemu międzynarodowego, narażając na szwank pozycję międzynarodową Unii Europejskiej. Po raz kolejny państwa członkowskie pokazują, iż koncepcja Wspólnej Polityki Zagranicznej i Bezpieczeństwa, wspierana między innymi przez Europejską Politykę Sąsiedztwa, jest pozbawiona stabilnych podstaw.

In the article I present the structure of rural marriage in Poland of the 80-ies. I analyse basic factors of marriage mating, especially the reasons for getting married. Among the most important reasons are: love, material reasons, friendship, prestige, social position, sex. The article includes also the results of the research on marriage durability (stability), and also on factors influencing the marriage success or failure.

The paper deals with the reception of Aristotle’s definition of rhetoric (Rhet. I 1355b26–27) in several Byzantine commentators of Hermogenes’ and Aphthonius’ treatises. A justification of critical interpretation of this definition is to be found in the commentaries of Troilus and Athanasius (4th/5th century) as well as Sopatros (6th century) and Doxapatres (11th century), Maximus Planudes (13th/14th century) and several anonymous commentators. The Byzantine tradition has found Aristotle’s definition of rhetoric to be all too theoretical and insufficiently connected to practical activity, which Byzantium identified with political life.

ΑΝΑΛΥΣΙΣ ΠΕΡΙ ΤΑ ΣΧΗΜΑΤΑ. Restoring Aristotle’s Lost Diagrams of the Syllogistic Figures

The article examines the relevance of Aristotle’s analysis that concerns the syllogistic figures. On the assumption that Aristotle’s analytics was inspired by the method of geometric analysis, we show how Aristotle used the three terms (letters), when he formulated the three syllogistic figures. So far it has not been appropriately recognized that the three terms — the major, the middle and the minor one — were viewed by Aristotle syntactically and predicatively in the form of diagrams. Many scholars have misunderstood Aristotle in that in the second and third figure the middle term is outside and that in the second figure the major term is next to the middle one, whereas in the third figure it is further from it. By means of diagrams, we have elucidated how this perfectly accords with Aristotle's planar and graphic arrangement. In the light of these diagrams, one can appropriately capture the definition of syllogism as a predicative set of terms. Irrespective of the tricky question concerning the abbreviations that Aristotle himself used with reference to these types of predication, the reconstructed figures allow us better to comprehend the reductions of syllogism to the first figure. We assume that the figures of syllogism are analogous to the figures of categorical predication, i.e., they are specific syntactic and semantic models. Aristotle demanded certain logical and methodological competence within analytics, which reflects his great commitment and contribution to the field.

The article presents an interpretation of the Soli Deo honor et gloria inscription from the fronton of the metropolitan cathedral of Christ the King in Katowice. The interpretation of the text depends on whether the word soli is taken as solely attributive or also as predicative. Given both the ancient and the contemporary historical and cultural contexts the former appears more plausible.

The article presents an analysis of letters found in Plautus' comedies. Dividing the correspondence into that which is read and that which is not read on the stage and into the authentic and falsifed, presents its structures, studies its coherence and defnes dependencies between the type of a letter and the role it plays in the comedy.

Motyw rozpoznania a sposób prezentacji postaci kobiecych w palliacie

The article shows how the recognition infuences on the way that female characters are presented in palliata. This motif is very common in Plautus’ and Terence’s comedies. It can be said that anagnorismos enables the introduction of women on the stage and is not at variance with antique customs and decorum.

The paper deals with some instances of exploiting the theme of the Sibyl in twentieth century literature, e.g. T.S. Eliot’s The Waste Land, J. Joyce’s Ulysses, M. Butor’s The Modifcation, P. Lagerkvist’s The Sibyl, W. Golding’s The Double Tongue.

The issues of poverty, famine and malnutrition mainly concern underdeveloped regions. Yet in recent years the proportion of the population threatened with poverty and social exclu- sion has been growing not only in these regions but also in developed areas, including the EU. The issue of poverty is additionally related to demography. In this context, the aging popula- tion of West European countries is worrisome, as the elderly are one of the groups particularly threatened by poverty, and their number continues to grow. Appreciating the gravity of this is- sue, the European Commission considers the fight against poverty to be one of the basic five directions established in the Europe 2020 strategic document.

Assuming that a crisis infers the collapse of old values while the new ones to replace them have not developed yet, one can ponder whether we are witnessing a crisis of press law in Po- land or not. Taking into consideration the gravity and scope of criticism of the current press law act and the repeated attempts to alter the existing legal status quo, it could be said that we are facing a permanent crisis in the press law system in Poland, and, consequently, of the whole media policy. The paper tries to verify this hypothesis on the example of one of the ele- ments of the press law, namely that of authorization.

Celem artykułu jest zarys koncepcji paradygmatu nauki sprowadzonego do widowiska kulturowego. Zasadniczymi kontekstami dla naszych rozważań sa definicje paradygmatu podane przez T. S. Kuhna i Z. Kwiecińskiego. W nawiązaniu do nich zostanie wyłonionych siedem faz rozwoju/przekształceń paradygmatu, następnie sięgniemy do jego odniesień naukowych i mitycznych powiązanych z technologią, z różnymi formami i funkcjami rytuału oraz z procesem rytualizacji. W wyniku zebranych tutaj informacji dojdziemy do stanowiska, z którego może wynikać, że paradygmat nauki jest widowiskiem społeczno-kulturowym. Zestawione tutaj wnioski pozwolą nam przejść do przykładu związanego z wychowaniem, - z paradygmatem wychowania i wyjaśnić sobie, na czym polega – zgodnie z tytułem artykułu – różnica między uściskiem a uciskiem wychowania. Całość kończy podsumowanie, w którym omówimy związek technologii rytualizacji i polityczności z władzą oraz zestawię w punktach informacje na temat paradygmatu. Moralny wymiar masturbacji musi być rozpatrywany świetle problematyki ludzkiego bycia, ponieważ tylko w takiej perspektywie można stworzyć uzasadnioną opinię o tej delikatnej kwestii.
