Breve notícia sôbre a espermatogênese de Lutosa brasiliensis Brunner (Tettigoniodea-Stenopelmatidae)

Lutosa brasiliensis, an Orthopteran Tettigonioidean belonging to the family Stenopelmatidae is referred to in this paper The spermatogonia are provided with 15 chromosomes, that is, 7 pairs of autosomes and a single sex chromosome. One pair of autosomes is much larger than the rest, two pairs are of median sized elements, and four pairs are of small ones. The daughter sex chromosomes show at anaphase great difficulty in reaching the poles, being left for a long while in the region of the equator where they are seen stretched one after the other on the same line or lying side by side in different positions. When the spermatogonium divides each daughter cell gets passively its sex chromosome. Though slowly, the sex chromosome finishes by beins enclosed in the nucleus. Its behavior may be attributed to a very weak kinetic activity of the centromere. In view of se pronouced an inertness of the sex chromosomes, two things may be expected : primary spermatocyte nuclei with two sex chromosomes, and primary spermatocytes with the sex chromosome lying outside the nucleus. Both situations have been discovered. The latter, together with the delay of the spermatogonial sex chromosome in reaching the poles suggested to the anther the mechanism which might have given origin to the cases in which the sex chromosome normally does not enter the nucleus to rejoin the autosomes, remaning outside in its own nucleus. It may well be supposed that accidents like that found in the present individual have turned to be a normal event in the course of the evolution of some species. Trie primary spermatocytes are provided with chromatoid bodies which remain visible all over the whole history of the cells and pass to one of the resulting secondary spermatocytes, the larger of them being found later in the area occupied by the tails of the spermatozoa. At this stage the chromosomes have a pronounced tendency to form clumps. Even when they are separated from each other they generally appear competed by chromosomal substance. Telophase chromosomes distend them- selves for giving origin to secondary spermatocyte nuclei in a state comparable to a beginning prophase. As the secondary spermatocytes approach metaphase the autosomes appear entirely divided except at the kinetochore where the chromatids remain united. In the division of the secondary spermatocytes nothing else merits special reference.

Inversión en TICs y productividad: un breve panorama y una primera aproximación al caso de las regiones españolas

Tras un breve repaso de la experiencia internacional, en el presente trabajo se cuantifica la contribución de la inversión en las nuevas tecnologías de la información y las comunicaciones (TICs) al crecimiento de España y sus regiones y a las disparidades de productividad entre estas últimas. Con este fin se estima una función de producción regional desagregando la dotación de capital en un componente TIC y otro no TIC. Una comparación de los resultados con los obtenidos a partir de la metodología habitual de contabilidad del crecimiento sugiere que la inversión en bienes TIC podría generar efectos indirectos internos y externos muy considerables.

As autoras fazem uma reflexão situando o professor de enfermagem nas diferentes abordagens pedagógicas Tradicional, Cognitivista, Comportamentalista, Humanista, e Sócio-Cultural), com o objetivo de analisar sua aplicação no ensino de enfermagem, contribuindo para que o professor reflita sobre sua prática e a exerça de forma criativa e inovadora.

Genometrics as an essential tool for the assembly of whole genome sequences: the example of the chromosome of Bifidobacterium longum NCC2705.

BACKGROUND: Analysis of the first reported complete genome sequence of Bifidobacterium longum NCC2705, an actinobacterium colonizing the gastrointestinal tract, uncovered its proteomic relatedness to Streptomyces coelicolor and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. However, a rapid scrutiny by genometric methods revealed a genome organization totally different from all so far sequenced high-GC Gram-positive chromosomes. RESULTS: Generally, the cumulative GC- and ORF orientation skew curves of prokaryotic genomes consist of two linear segments of opposite slope: the minimum and the maximum of the curves correspond to the origin and the terminus of chromosome replication, respectively. However, analyses of the B. longum NCC2705 chromosome yielded six, instead of two, linear segments, while its dnaA locus, usually associated with the origin of replication, was not located at the minimum of the curves. Furthermore, the coorientation of gene transcription with replication was very low. Comparison with closely related actinobacteria strongly suggested that the chromosome of B. longum was misassembled, and the identification of two pairs of relatively long homologous DNA sequences offers the possibility for an alternative genome assembly proposed here below. By genometric criteria, this configuration displays all of the characters common to bacteria, in particular to related high-GC Gram-positives. In addition, it is compatible with the partially sequenced genome of DJO10A B. longum strain. Recently, a corrected sequence of B. longum NCC2705, with a configuration similar to the one proposed here below, has been deposited in GenBank, confirming our predictions. CONCLUSION: Genometric analyses, in conjunction with standard bioinformatic tools and knowledge of bacterial chromosome architecture, represent fast and straightforward methods for the evaluation of chromosome assembly.

Breve revisión de los cambios en el desove de la anchoveta peruana entre 1966 y 1999

Se analiza brevemente la variabilidad del desove de anchoveta en el área entre los 3° y 14° S, durante el periodo 1966-1999, en el cual ocurrieron condiciones ambientales frías y cálidas, que favorecieron o perjudicaron el recurso. Utilizando indices de desove o promedios del número de huevos por m2, durante el invierno, resultantes del análisis de muestras colectadas con redes Hensen, en la columna de 50 metros, se compara la magnitud del desove en periodos fríos y periodos EI Niño, a fin de determinar las características del proceso, encontrándose que los mas altos indices de desove se presentaron en 1966, cuando, ademas, los huevos alcanzaron su mayor cobertura, llegando hasta 150 millas de la costa. Par el contrario, el desove fue nulo en 1983, como consecuencia del Niño 1982-1983. luego de EI Niño 1997-1998, el desove ha vuelto a recuperarse, incrementando sus indices paulatinamente.

O Ensino do Direito em Cabo Verde. Nota breve

A necessidade de se instituir um sistema de ensino do Direito entre nós fez-se sentir de forma intensa nos últimos trinta anos. Sendo o Direito um dos cursos clássicos mais procurados, a Justiça um valor que faz parte da nossa cultura, do nosso modo de ser e da nossa convivência comum e havendo um número muito reduzido de juristas no período pós-independência, a necessidade de formação na área jurídica impôs-se desde logo. Nos finais dos anos setenta e início dos anos oitenta realizaram-se cursos virados para a formação de quadros judiciais e administrativos em que o Direito esteve sempre presente, incluindo cursos específicos de formação judiciária, dada a escassez de juízes e procuradores, mas como esses cursos não tiveram continuidade não se fez Escola; posteriormente, surgiu o curso de Direito realizado em cooperação com a Universidade de Havana, mas foi sol de pouca dura.

O ensino público e privado – Conceitos e realidades Uma breve resenha da realidade cabo-verdiana

Em Cabo Verde, o ensino privado não tem o cariz elitista que normalmente este tipo de ensino apresenta, pelo menos a nível do ensino secundário. Não tem pautado por um ensino de qualidade, uma vez que se assume apenas como uma alternativa ao ensino público. É normalmente destinado aos que perderam o direito de frequentar o ensino publico, por causa de normativos que foram instituídos para regular a entrada e permanência dos alunos no ensino secundário.

Nota breve sobre o conceito de média

O conceito de média surge de modo abundante na disciplina de Métodos Estatísticos, presente em muitos cursos de licenciatura de instituições de ensino superior. Surge, de igual modo, em domínios onde a noção de acaso está ausente, mas onde o conceito de média continua a ser essencial no tratamento de dados ligados a determinadas grandezas. A tendência para a utilização de modelos quantitativos em número cada vez maior de domínios do saber, determinou a necessidade de colher quantidades sempre mais vastas de informação numérica, acompanhadas do correspondente tratamento.
