O impacto cultural e religioso causado pelo encontro dos indígenas e europeus no Novo Mundo me levou à busca de uma reconstrução do universo mental, simbólico e religioso dos povos que viveram no Brasil, nesse período.Para entender as origens, as matrizes fundantes, da religiosidade brasileira busquei, através da análise dos relatos dos cronistas quinhentistas, uma via para essa compreensão. Sabe-se que durante muito tempo a historiografia brasileira desconheceu o fenômeno das Santidades Ameríndias , ou seja, a dimensão dessa religiosidade envolta em magia, mas que pode ser observada e relatada pelos cronistas. Podemos verificar que o sagrado perpassa o campo social e o político dos indígenas brasileiros. Além da crença religiosa, existe a crença em outras forças que regem esse mundo: a crença nas profecias, nas benzeções para afastar os males e na cura ou nos feitiços que podem fazer o mal para seus desafetos. Todavia, nosso propósito não é um estudo da magia ou da religião, mas uma tentativa de abordar as crenças, a religiosidade indígena, nesse Paraíso Terrestre, que por um bom tempo foi o Brasil do Século XVI. O principal personagem: o profeta-caraíba é, ao mesmo tempo, sacerdote e fiel seguidor dos princípios tradicionais, fundamentais de sua tribo. Esse guia espiritual, com a missão de derrotar as forças do mal e libertar sua tribo das garras do inimigo, é quem deverá os conduzir até a Terra sem Mal.(AU)

Este trabalho, cujo tema é A comunicação e o mercado editorial infantil brasileiro na década de 1990 , descreveu e analisou o panorama editorial infantil do país no período indicado sob a perspectiva da comunicação. O problema de pesquisa proposto, tendo em vista a conjuntura política, social e econômica da época, tem o intuito de responder se houve, de fato, um desenvolvimento substantivo no mercado editorial infantil na década de 1990 ou, se este desenvolvimento foi apenas aparente. Correlatamente, constatar quais as estratégias de comunicação mercadológicas utilizadas no período e de que maneira elas contribuíram para o fomento desse mercado. Para garantir o caráter sistemático e científico deste trabalho, foi utilizado o método qualitativo. Muito embora, a presença do método quantitativo também tenha sido necessária, sobretudo no que tange ao comportamento de vendas do mercado editorial brasileiro na década de 1990. Como tipo de pesquisa, o estudo descritivo analítico foi o que melhor se enquadrou com os objetivos pretendidos, assim, além de um apurado levantamento bibliográfica, foi realizada uma pesquisa de campo por meio de questionários semi-estruturados e entrevistas. Dessa forma, pôde-se, a partir desses dados, traçar o cenário do mercado editorial infantil da época relacionando-o à sua cadeia produtiva.(AU)

Amphibian metamorphosis involves extensive, but selective, neuronal death and turnover, thus sharing many features with mammalian postnatal development. The antiapoptotic protein Bcl-XL plays an important role in postnatal mammalian neuronal survival. It is therefore of interest that accumulation of the mRNA encoding the Xenopus Bcl-XL homologue, termed xR11, increases abruptly in the nervous system, but not in other tissues, during metamorphosis in Xenopus tadpoles. This observation raises the intriguing possibility that xR11 selectively regulates neuronal survival during postembryonic development. To investigate this hypothesis, we overexpressed xR11 in vivo as a green fluorescent protein (GFP)-xR11 fusion protein by using somatic and germinal transgenesis. Somatic gene transfer showed that the fusion protein was effective in counteracting, in a dose-dependent manner, the proapoptotic effects of coexpressed Bax. When GFP-xR11 was expressed from the neuronal β-tubulin promoter by germinal transgenesis we observed neuronal specific expression that was maintained throughout metamorphosis and beyond, into juvenile and adult stages. Confocal microscopy showed GFP-xR11 to be exclusively localized in the mitochondria. Our findings show that GFP-xR11 significantly prolonged Rohon-Beard neuron survival up to the climax of metamorphosis, even in the regressing tadpole tail, whereas in controls these neurons disappeared in early metamorphosis. However, GFP-xR11 expression did not modify the fate of spinal cord motoneurons. The selective protection of Rohon-Beard neurons reveals cell-specific apoptotic pathways and offers approaches to further analyze programmed neuronal turnover during postembryonic development.

The dual activation of simple substrates by the combination of organocatalysis and palladium catalysis has been successfully applied in a variety of different asymmetric transformations. Thus, the asymmetric a-allylation of carbonyl compounds, a-fluorination of acyl derivatives, decarboxylative protonation of β-dicarbonyl compounds, cyclization reactions of alkynyl carbonyl compounds and β-functionalization of aldehydes have been efficiently achieved employing this double-catalytic methodology.

This paper reviews the present state of the catalytic enantioselective Reformatsky reaction. Advancements in asymmetric versions of this reaction have recently led to a considerable extension of its scope and applicability, principally due to the use of highly active chiral ligands and very specific reaction conditions.

Team handball is an Olympic sport played professionally in many European countries. Nevertheless, a scientific knowledge regarding women's elite team handball demands is limited. Thus, the purpose of this article was to review a series of studies (n = 33) on physical characteristics, physiological attributes, physical attributes, throwing velocity, and on-court performances of women's team handball players. Such empirical and practical information is essential to design and implement successful short-term and long-term training programs for women's team handball players. Our review revealed that (a) players that have a higher skill level are taller and have a higher fat-free mass; (b) players who are more aerobically resistant are at an advantage in international level women team handball; (c) strength and power exercises should be emphasized in conditioning programs, because they are associated with both sprint performance and throwing velocity; (d) speed drills should also be implemented in conditioning programs but after a decrease in physical training volume; (e) a time-motion analysis is an effective method of quantifying the demands of team handball and provides a conceptual framework for the specific physical preparation of players. According to our results, there are only few studies on on-court performance and time-motion analysis for women's team handball players, especially concerning acceleration profiles. More studies are needed to examine the effectiveness of different training programs of women's team handball players' physiological and physical attributes.

En el ámbito de la Didáctica de las Ciencias Sociales, la enseñanza de la disciplina histórica, suele normalmente asociarse a un proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje basado en el conductismo, por eso a través de esta investigación hemos llevado a cabo experiencias didácticas que ahondasen en la innovación educativa partiendo de la base de una enseñanza fundamentada en el método del historiador: la investigación, el trabajo cooperativo y el análisis de las fuentes históricas. Para desarrollar esta concepción en la enseñanza de la Historia hemos tenido en cuenta que el proceso se convirtiese en un elemento significativo de aprendizaje, de modo que los procedimientos se transformaban, gracias a la indagación, en un nuevo centro de interés para el alumnado. De ese modo hemos querido apostar por novedades metodológicas que implicasen el trabajo con las TIC, como los programas Photopeach o Glogster, el uso de las rutinas de pensamiento, para afianzar un aprendizaje crítico y reflexivo, así como la producción literaria para favorecer el uso de las fuentes históricas y al mismo tiempo trabajar la creatividad de nuestro alumnado. Entre los resultados obtenidos en este proceso se observan avances en el uso de las fuentes históricas, un análisis crítico de las mismas, la llegada de acuerdos y consensos a la hora de exponer estos resultados investigativos y, por último, un modelo creativo de presentar sus investigaciones desde mapas mentales hasta cuentos infantiles pasando por la producción de vídeos.

This folder contains a single document describing the "rules and orders" of the Hollis Professor of Mathematics and Natural Philosophy. The document begins by defining the subjects to be taught by the Hollis Professor including natural and experimental philosophy, elements of geometry, and the principles of astronomy and geography. It then outlines the number of public and private lectures to be given to students, how much extra time the professor should spend with students reviewing any difficulties they may encounter understanding class subject matter discussed, and stipulates that the professor's duties shall be restricted solely to his teaching activities and not involve him in any religious activities at the College or oblige him to teach any additional studies other than those specified for the Hollis Professor of Mathematics and Natural Philosophy. Furthermore, the rules establish the professor's salary at £80 per year and allow the professor to receive from students, except those students studying theology under the Hollis Professor of Divinity, an additional fee as determined by the Corporation and Board of Overseers, to supplement his income. Moreover, the rules assert that all professorship candidates selected by the Harvard Corporation must be approved by Thomas Hollis during his lifetime or by his executor after his death. Finally, the rules state that the Hollis professor take an oath to the civil government and declare himself a member of the Protestant reformed religion. This document is signed by Thomas Hollis and four witnesses, John Hollis, Joshua Hollis, Richard Solly, and John Williams.
