Combining information on kinetics and kinematics of the trunk during gait is important for both clinical and research purposes, since it can help in better understanding the mechanisms behind changes in movement patterns in chronic low back pain patients. Although three-dimensional gait analysis has been used to evaluate chronic low back pain and healthy individuals, the reliability and measurement error of this procedure have not been fully established. The main purpose of this thesis is to gain a better understanding about the differences in the biomechanics of the trunk and lower limbs during gait, in patients and healthy individuals. To achieve these aims, three studies were developed. The first two, adopted a prospective design and focused on the reliability and measurement error of gait analysis. In these test-retest studies, chronic low back pain and healthy individuals were submitted to a gait assessment protocol, with two distinct evaluation moments, separated by one week. Gait data was collected using a 13-camera opto-electronic system and three force platforms. Data analysis included the computation of time-distance parameters, as well as the peak values for lower limb and trunk joint angles/moments. The third study followed a cross sectional design, where gait in chronic low back pain individuals was compared with matched controls. Step-to-step variability of the thoracic, lumbar and hips was calculated, and step-to-step deviations of these segments from their average pattern (residual rotations) were correlated to each other. The reliability studies in this thesis show that three-dimensional gait analysis is a reliable and consistent procedure for both chronic low back pain and healthy individuals. The results suggest varied reliability indices for multi-segment trunk joint angles, joint moments and time-distance parameters during gait, together with an acceptable level of error (particularly regarding sagittal plane). Our findings also show altered stride-to-stride variability of lumbar and thoracic segments and lower trunk joint moments in patients. These kinematic and kinetic results lend support to the notion that chronic low back pain individuals exhibit a protective movement strategy.

The new oil reservoirs discoveries in onshore and ultra deep water offshore fields and complex trajectories require the optimization of procedures to reduce the stops operation during the well drilling, especially because the platforms and equipment high cost, and risks which are inherent to the operation. Among the most important aspects stands out the drilling fluids project and their behavior against different situations that may occur during the process. By means of sedimentation experiments, a correlation has been validated to determe the sedimentation particles velocity in variable viscosity fluids over time, applying the correction due to effective viscosity that is a shear rate and time function. The viscosity evolution over time was obtained by carrying out rheologic tests using a fixed shear rate, small enough to not interfere in the fluid gelling process. With the sedimentation particles velocity and the fluid viscosity over time equations an iterative procedure was proposed to determine the particles displacement over time. These equations were implemented in a case study to simulate the cuttings sedimentation generated in the oil well drilling during stops operation, especially in the connections and tripping, allowing the drilling fluid project in order to maintain the cuttings in suspension, avoiding risks, such as stuck pipe and in more drastic conditions, the loss of the well

Se realiza un estudio epidemiológico descriptivo en los 62 estudiantes del postgrado de la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Cuenca, con el objeto de determinar las situaciones estresantes a las que se encuentran expuestos, conocer los factores que lo condicionan y sus consecuencias, así como mecanismos de adaptación utilizados, a fin de establecer recomendaciones para su manejo. Se cruzan los datos de los estudiantes con la edad, sexo, estado civil, tipo de personalidad, especialidad, nivel de postgrado, situaciones estresantes, repercusión y las conductas adaptivas. La frecuencia del estrés es el 100 por ciento en los estudiantes de postgrado, ubicando en el nivel de estrés leve 7 personas [11.29 por ciento], en el nivel moderado 33 personas [53.23 por ciento] y en nivel elevado 22 personas [35.48 por ciento]. Considerando que el universo del estudio está constituido en un 62.90 por ciento por hombres y 37.09 por ciento por mujeres, el nivel de estrés que más se observa es el moderado en los dos géneros con predominio en los hombres en un 53.85 por ciento. La frecuencia en el uso de las conductas adaptativas fue estable durante la residencia, las más eficaces fueron las dirigidas a trabajar y estudiar en exceso, las de autograficación, distracción y búsqueda de apoyo social. Se consigan las conclusiones del estudio y se plantean las recomendaciones pertinentes

Este trabajo recoge algunos ejercicios de una colección para sistematizar contenidos de geometría plana, manteniendo vigente en todos, el concepto de movimiento. De acuerdo con las sugerencias de la investigación “Cómo transcurre la línea directriz geometría en secundaria básica”, se proponen ejercicios, sin complicaciones extremas, donde se crean condiciones para la creatividad de los alumnos pues, son de respuestas abiertas y los maestros los pueden utilizar para la creación de otros y elevar el protagonismo de los educandos.
