Evaluación participativa y empoderamiento: análisis documental de investigaciones y prácticas

Este artículo presenta los resultados de un trabajo de investigación y análisis documental sobre la evaluación participativa y el empoderamiento, realizado a investigaciones, proyectos yexperiencias a nivel nacional e internacional, desarrollados en la última década (entre el 2000 y2010 inclusive). Se describe el proceso de búsqueda en bases de datos -en el ámbito de lasciencias sociales -, de registro y de análisis, desarrollado por un equipo interuniversitario deinvestigadores en el marco de un I+D.El objetivo final de este trabajo no solo se centra en recabar y actualizar bibliografía en materiade evaluación participativa y de empoderamiento, sino en analizar los contenidos de las acciones descritas en los registros seleccionados.

Asset Management Program Enhancement Plan: Baseline Assessment Phases I and II, 2015

This project resulted in the development of a framework for making asset management decisions on low-volume bridges. The research focused on low-volume bridges located in the agricultural counties of Iowa because recent research has shown that these counties have the greatest percentage of structurally deficient bridges in the nation. Many of the same counties also have the highest crop yields in the state, creating a situation where detours caused by deficient bridges on farm-to-market roads increase the cost to transport the crops. Thus, the research proposed the use of social return on investment (SROI), a tool used by international institutions such as the World Bank, as an asset management metric to gauge to the socioeconomic impact of structurally deficient bridges on the state in an effort to provide quantified justification to fund improvements on low-volume assets such as these rural bridges. The study found that combining SROI with current asset management metrics like average daily traffic (ADT) made it possible to prioritize the bridges in such a way that the limited resources available are allocated in a manner that promotes a more equitable distribution and that directly benefits the user, in this case Iowa farmers. The result is a system that more closely aligns itself with the spirit of MAP-21, in that infrastructure investments are used to facilitate economic growth for Iowa’s agricultural economy.

Iowa's Mississippi River Trail Plan, 2003

The Mississippi River Trail (MRT) is a world-class bicycle trail that will follow the Mississippi River all the way from its headwaters in Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico. The trail is partially completed; much of it is still in the planning and development stages. When complete, the MRT will Link over 2,000 miles of recreational trails through 10 states, including 280 miles in Iowa. Designated as a National Millennium Trail, the MRT will preserve natural environments along the river, stimulate economic growth in river communities, and provide bicyclists access to a variety of landscapes, history, and culture. The Iowa Department of Transportation commissioned the Center for Transportation Research and Education at Iowa State University to develop a plan for a safe, economically beneficial, and scenic MRT route through Iowa. This report presents the MRT plan for Iowa. It is organized in the following chapters: Executive Summary; (1) Introduction - vision statement and objectives; (2) Iowa MRT Minimum Design Standards; (3) Iowa MRT Route Analysis; (4) Recommended Improvement Plan; (5) MRT Implementation; and (6) Estimated Benefits and Impacts of the Iowa MRT. The State of Iowa Consolidated Plan for Housing and Community Development: Annual Action Plan, 2016

The state of Iowa must submit to HUD a Consolidated Plan and an Annual Action Plan. The Consolidated Plan is a 5-year plan to address housing and community development needs. The 2015-2019 Consolidated Plan was submitted to HUD in 2015 and outlines the state of Iowa’s goals for the 5-year period. The state’s Consolidated Plan includes goals and proposed activities under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME), Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), and Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) programs.

Aging and Disability Resource Center and MHDS Commission Home Modification Assistance Program Plan, December 2015

This report was prepared as a directive to Aging and Disability Resource Centers and The Mental Health and Disability Commission to jointly develop a plan for a home modification assistance program to provide grants and individual income tax credits to assist with expenses related to the making or permanent home modifications that permit individual with a disability to remain in the homes.

Going with the consumer towards the social Web environment : a review of extant knowledge

The social Web environment cannot be explained without taking into account the use made by consumers of the web technologies in the field of e-commerce. Starting with a systematic background of the growing body of research on marketing and consumer behaviour on the Web; this article presents a critical review of the main contributions on this theme, integrating also the research field of consumer behaviour in the social Web environment. It concludes with some managerial guidelines for successful use of the social Web in the commercial activities and in the establishment of fruitful relationships between the consumers and the brand.

Social Media in health. What are the safety concerns for healthcare consumers?

Recent literature has discussed the unintended consequences of clinical information technologies (IT) on patient safety, yet there has been little discussion about the safety concerns in the area of consumer health IT. This paper presents a range of safety concerns for consumers in social media, with a case study on YouTube. We conducted a scan of abstracts on 'quality criteria' related to YouTube. Five areas regarding the safety of YouTube for consumers were identifi ed: (a) harmful health material targeted at consumers (such as inappropriate marketing of tobaccoor direct-to-consumer drug advertising); (b) public display of unhealthy behaviour (such as people displaying self-injury behaviours or hurting others); (c) tainted public health messages (i.e. the rise of negative voices againstpublic health messages); (d) psychological impact from accessing inappropriate, offensive or biased social media content; and (e) using social media to distort policy and research funding agendas. The examples presented should contribute to a better understanding about how to promote a safe consumption and production of social media for consumers, and an evidence-based approach to designing social media interventions for health. The potential harm associated with the use of unsafe social media content on the Internet is a major concern. More empirical and theoretical studies are needed to examine how social media infl uences consumer health decisions, behaviours and outcomes, and devise ways to deter the dissemination of harmful infl uences in social media.

Cambio social y homogamia educativa

A partir de una amplia revisión bibliográfica y basándose en los datos de un estudio realizado sobre una muestra representativa de la provincia de Lérida (N=1.219) se analiza en este artículo la persistencia de la homogamia educativa en un contexto de expansión de la escolarización, en especial, de las cohortes femeninas españolas nacidas con posterioridad a 1955. Más allá de la controversia de la homogamia frente a la heterogamia los autores interpretan los resultados como ejemplo de los límites al cambio de modelo de enlace matrimonial.

Asociaciones entre la red social y la discapacidad al comienzo de la vejez en las ciudades de Madrid y Barcelona en 2005

La pérdida de autonomía a edades avanzadas no se asocia únicamente con el envejecimiento sino también con características del entorno físico y social. Investigaciones recientes han demostrado que la red social, la integración social y la participación, actúan como predictores de la discapacidad en la vejez. El objetivo de este trabajo es nalizar el efecto de la red social sobre el nivel de autonomía(en términos de discapacidad instrumental y básica) en etapas iniciales de la vejez.

Entre la beneficencia y la «familiaritas»: la contratación del «victum et vestitum» en los monasterios catalanes durante los siglos XI-XII. Una respuesta institucional alternativa ante el hambre como problema social

Desde finales del siglo XI, en Cataluña, los principales monasterios y cabildos de canónigos regulares disponen de limosnas que ofrecen la ratio alimenticia diaria a pequeños grupos de laicos, diferenciados de los pobres, vinculados a ellas a través de actos de donación de alodios o de autodonación personal. En este artículo se aborda la relación entre el auge de este nuevo tipo de caridad contractual y de alguna de las formas de la familiaritas en las que derivó, y las dificultades de una parte de la sociedad durante las carestías, así como el papel que jugaron las principales instituciones monásticas, situadas al frente de importantes señoríos, a la hora de mitigar los efectos de éstas sobre la población dependiente.
