Lateral periodicity in highly-strained (GaIn)As/Ga(PAs) superlattices investigated by X-ray scattering techniques

In this work we investigate the lateral periodicity of symmetrically strained (GaIn)As/GaAs/Ga(PAs)/GaAs superlattices by means of X-ray scattering techniques. The multilayers were grown by metalorganic Vapour phase epitaxy on (001)GaAs substrates, which were intentionally off-oriented towards the [011]-direction. The substrate off-orientation and the strain distribution was found to affect the structural properties of the superlattices inducing the generation of laterally ordered macrosteps. Several high-resolution triple-crystal reciprocal space maps, which were recorded for different azimuth angles in the vicinity of the (004) Bragg diffraction and contour maps of the specular reflected beam collected in the vicinity of the (000) reciprocal lattice point, are reported and discussed. The reciprocal space maps clearly show a two-dimensional periodicity of the X-ray peak intensity distribution which can be ascribed to the superlattice periodicity in the direction of the surface normal and to a lateral periodicity in a crystallographic direction coinciding with the miscut orientation. The distribution and correlation of the vertical as well as of the lateral interface roughness was investigated by specular reflectivity and diffuse scattering measurements. Our results show that the morphology of the roughness is influenced by the off-orientation angle and can be described by a 2-dimensional waviness.

Lanthanide metal complexes for the hydrolysis of adenosine-5'-monophosphate and deoxyadenosine-5'-monophosphate

The hydrolysis of adenosine-5'-monophosphate and deoxyadenosine-5'-monophosphate has been studied with lanthanide(III) metal complexes of 2-carboxyethylgermanium sesquioxide (Ge-132) by NMR and HPLC and by measuring the liberated inorganic phosphates.

CALCULATIONS OF THE EIGENVALUES OF PURE QUADRUPOLE INTERACTION IN MOSSBAUER-EFFECT STUDIES

Two approximate formulae to calculate the eigenvalues of pure quadrupole interaction in Mossbauer effect studies have been proposed and the eigenvalue coefficients in the formulae have been given for various excited states and ground states of the nucleus with different spin. All the eigenvalues of pure quadrupole interaction between both excited state and ground state of nucleus with spin I = 3/2 divided-by 9/2 and the electric-field gradient with different asymmetry parameter (eta = 0 divided-by 1.0) have been calculated by these formulae. The results show that the accuracies in all the calculations are more satisfactory or same in comparison with those obtained by the formula of Shenoy and Dunlap, especially when the asymmetry parameter of electric-field gradient is larger than 0.8 for the nucleus with spin I = 5/2.

My thesis analyses female figures in Italian crime fiction since 1980, from narratological, sociological and gender-studies perspectives. It considers the narrative structure of the giallo and the noir, taking into account the difficulties, particularly in Italy, of establishing what noir fiction is and if/how it is possible to frame it in a specific narrative scheme. This discourse connects to the extraordinary success of Italian giallo and noir fiction over the past fifteen-twenty years. In this scenario, I examine the place of female writers in relation to this phenomenon, especially since the 1980s: in terms of the level of visibility/acceptance of their work, in a narrative space traditionally considered as a male territory, and with regard to their writings, which introduce different narrative perspectives. Specifically, I consider selected texts by leading female Italian writers, in which female elements (writers/characters) become destabilizing factor both on the narrative level, by undermining the schemes of ‘formulaic’ fiction, and on the political one, through their implicit potential (as women) for disrupting the rigid models inherited from processes of social conditioning and from political structures. In terms of gender identities, such texts offer scope to question conventional social constructions of the subject: by empowering the female narrative voice and by embodying it in characters (investigators/killers) traditionally personified by male figures. These texts offer themselves as a critical space where, potentially, readers can rethink static gendered relationships and stereotypical symbolical categories.

El objetivo de este clip es que la próxima vez que le pregunten: ¿para que sirven las raíces cuadradas? usted pueda responder: para hacer las raciones de espaguetis… y otras cosas. En el variado y apetitoso mundo de la pasta, los “espaguetis” han alcanzado enorme popularidad. Ya hace años la despampanante actriz italiana Sophia Loren dijo con orgullo aquello de que: todo lo que ve lo debo a los espaguetis. Saber comer espaguetis con dignidad (sin mancharse) no es tarea simple pues la cuchara debe facilitar el enrollado de la pasta en el tenedor inclinado y luego esta debe emprender el largo viaje que va del plato a la boca del comensal, sobrevolando el vestido.

Actitud, aptitud y rendimiento en matemáticas: un estudio en primero de magisterio

Este trabajo de investigación ha sido realizado en la Escuela Universitaria de Magisterio de Murcia, en la asignatura de Matemáticas 1°. A los alumnos de tres grupos de diferentes características -uno de la especialidad de Filología, otro del resto de especialidades y un tercero de todas las especialidades, se les aplicaron una serie de pruebas con la finalidad de medir variables actitudinales y de rendimiento en matemáticas, mediante tests estandarizados se obtuvo la aptitud verbal, numérica. razonamiento y factor de inteligencia de los alumnos, así como su actitud, su preferencia e importancia por las matemáticas. El rendimiento en matemáticas se obtuvo a través de las calificaciones de Junio.
