A three-dimensional (3-D) coupled physical and biological model was used to investigate the physical processes and their influence on the ecosystem dynamics of the Bohai Sea of China. The physical processes include M-2 tide, time - varying wind forcing and river discharge. Wind records from I to 31 May in 1993 were selected to force the model. The biological model is based on a simple, nitrate and phosphate limited, lower trophic food web system. The simulated results showed that variation of residual currents forced by M, tide, river discharge and time-varying wind had great impact on the distribution of phytoplankton biomass in the Laizhou Bay. High phytoplankton biomass appeared in the upwelling region. Numerical experiments based on the barotropic model and baroclinic model with no wind and water discharge were also conducted. Differences in the results by the baroclinic model and the barotropic model were significant: more patches appeared in the baroclinic model comparing with the barotropic model. And in the baroclinic model, the subsurface maximum phytoplankton biomass patches formed in the stratified water.

The title compound, 2-(methoxybenzoyl)-N-phenyt-2-(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)thioacetamide was synthesized by several reactions from 4-methoxyacetophenone, triazole and phenyl isothiocyanate. The structure was identified by elemental analysis, H-1 NMR, MS and IR. The single crystal structure of 2-(methoxybenzoyl)-N-phenyl-2-(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)thioacetamide was determined with X-ray diffraction. The preliminary bioassays show that the title compound exhibits weak antifungal activities and plant-growth regulatory activity.

In order to find leading compounds with an excellent fungicidal activity, the tide compound 2-(1,3-dithiolan-2-yl-idene) -1-phenyl-2-(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl) ethanone was synthesized according to the biological isosterism and its structure was confirmed by means of IR, MS, H-1 NMR and elemental analysis. The single crystal structure of the tide compound was determined by X-ray diffraction. The preliminary biological test shows that the synthesized compound exhibits some biological activities.

Four novel triazole compounds containing thioamide group were designed and synthesized by using triazole, phenyl isothiocyanate and aryl ethyl ketone as raw material. Their structures were conformed by elemental analysis, H-1 NMR, IR and MS spectra. The crystal structure of 1-[1-anilinothiocarbonyl-1-(4-fluorobenzoyl)methyl]-1,2,4-trizole has been determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. The preliminary bioassays have shown that the title compounds exhibit certain antifungal activity.

The title compound, N'-(4-methoxybenzylidene)-2-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)acetohydrazide, was synthesized and its structure was confirmed by means of IR, MS,H-1 NMR and elemental analysis. The single crystal structure of the title compound was determined by X-ray diffraction. The preliminary biological test shows that the synthesized compound has a low antifungal activity.
Regeneration behaviors of Fe/Si-2 and Fe-Mn/Si-2 catalysts for C2H6 dehydrogenation with CO2 to C2H4
Resumo:
The catalytic performance of Fe/Si-2 and Fe-Mn/Si-2 catalysts for conversion of C2H6 with CO2 to C2H4 was examined in a continuous-flow and fixed-bed reactor. The results show that the Fe-Mn/Si-2 catalyst exhibits much better reaction activity and selectivity to C2H4 than those of the Fe/Si-2 catalyst. Furthermore, the coking-decoking behaviors of these catalysts were studied through TG. The catalytic performances of the catalysts after regeneration for conversion of C2H6 or dilute C2H6 in FCC off-gas with CO2 to C2H4 were also examined. The results show that both activity and selectivity of the Fe-Mn/Si-2 catalyst after regeneration reached the same level as those of the fresh catalyst, whereas it is difficult for the Fe/Si-2 catalyst to refresh its reaction behavior after regeneration.

The thin alumina film-supported metallic molybdenum model catalyst was prepared by thermal decomposition of MO(CO)6, and CO chemisorption on the catalyst was investigated in-situ by thermal desorption spectroscopy (TDS) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The results showed that a molybdenum-carbonyl-like species was formed on the alumina surface at low temperature by high coordination of CO with the surface metallic molybdenum nanoparticles, indicating a reversible regeneration of molybdenum carbonyl on the alumina surface. CO chemisorption on the model catalyst surface caused the Mo 3d XPS peak to shift toward higher binding energy. The formed molybdenum carbonyl species appeared at about 240 K in the TDS. The supported metallic molybdenum nanoparticles were quite different from the bulk molybdenum in chemical properties, which indicated a prominent particle-size effect of the clusters.

The increasing aging of our societies is accompanied by a pandemic of obesity and related cardiometabolic disorders. Progressive dysfunction of the white adipose tissue is increasingly recognized as an important hallmark of the aging process which in turn contributes to metabolic alterations, multi-organ damage, and a systemic pro-inflammatory state ('inflammaging'). On the other hand, obesity, the paradigm of adipose tissue dysfunction, shares numerous biological similarities with the normal aging process such as chronic inflammation and multi-system alterations. Accordingly, understanding the interplay between accelerated aging related to obesity and adipose tissue dysfunction is critical to gain insight into the aging process in general as well as into the pathophysiology of obesity and other related conditions. Here we postulate the concept of 'adipaging' to illustrate the common links between aging and obesity and the fact that, to a great extent, obese adults are prematurely aged individuals.

Depression is a major medical and social problem. Here we review current body of knowledge on the benefits of exercise as an effective strategy for both the prevention and treatment of this condition. We also analyze the biological pathways involved in such potential benefits, which include changes in neurotrophic factors, oxidative stress and inflammation, telomere length, brain volume and microvessels, neurotransmitters or hormones. We also identify major caveats in this field of research: further studies are needed to identify which are the most appropriate types of exercise interventions (intensity, duration, or frequency) to treat and prevent depression.
