The GCRMN - coordinating coral reef monitoring efforts for effective management

The Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network (GCRMN) is an operational unit of the International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI), established in 1995 and maintained by the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS). The main responsibilities are to provide data and information on the global status of coral reefs, assess how people use and interact with reefs, assist coral reef management, and raise awareness among all stakeholders of the status of reefs and the need for urgent action. It is represented by 17 regional nodes, with overall coordination by a global coordinator based at AIMS.

O léxico regional em Vidas Secas: subsídios para um dicionário da ficção de Graciliano Ramos

Vidas Secas, de Graciliano Ramos é considerada uma obra prima da ficção regional da Literatura Brasileira da Geração de 30. O romance é um documento sobre a vida miserável de uma família de retirantes nordestinos, que sofrem as consequências da seca no sertão. O estudo do vocabulário que permeia a trajetória dessa família gerou as bases para elaboração deste trabalho que tem como objetivo principal a formação de um glossário de termos regionais nordestinos presentes na obra em estudo, a fim de contribuir com um dicionário da ficção do referido autor. Cooperação intermunicipal? Um estudo sobre o consórcio de saúde da região do Médio Paraíba do Rio de Janeiro

O estudo aqui apresentado teve por temática os processos de cooperação intermunicipal possibilitados pela formação e atuação de consórcios municipais, tomando como caso as ações desenvolvidas pelo Consórcio Intermunicipal de Saúde da Região do Médio Paraíba do Rio de Janeiro CISMEPA. Esses consórcio surgiu nos anos 90 a partir de uma discussão regional acerca da necessidade de realizar a programação e a pactuação da oferta de serviços entre os doze municípios que compõem essa região fluminense. Esta pesquisa se propôs analisar o processo evolutivo do CISMEPA, conhecendo sua organização técnica e administrativa, os principais projetos e serviços desenvolvidos e analisando o resultado das ações por ele implementadas. A partir da análise da articulação técnico-política regional no âmbito do SUS, espera-se agregar subsídios para o processo evolutivo da descentralização no SUS e da estratégia de regionalização. O caminho metodológico utilizado foi a análise qualitativa sobre o CISMEPA, que tomou por base a realização de pesquisa bibliográfica, estudo dos documentos oficiais do consórcio, análise da forma de execução dos projetos, entrevistas semiestruturadas com participantes do processo de elaboração, execução e acompanhamento dos projetos e observação participantes das reuniões. Os projetos desenvolvidos pelo CISMEPA foram bem sucedidos e o consórcio desempenhou importante papel não só na gestão, como também na captação de recursos. O êxito é devido, sobretudo, à forma participativa com que os projetos foram elaborados e desenvolvidos pelo grupo de gestores e técnicos. Em que pese a região ter se organizado sua PPI, o CISMEPA não logrou organizar a oferta micro e macrorregional de serviços, um dos seus objetivos iniciais. No entanto, seu mérito foi configurar-se num importante fórum de debates e pactuação, mesmo contando com baixa adesão e presença do Estado. Tal característica o potencializa como estratégia de regionalização do SUS.

Regionalismo pós-liberal e a América do Sul: a necessidade de legitimação do novo regionalismo brasileiro

Esta dissertação se insere na temática mais ampla do processo recente de integração da América do Sul, caracterizado pelo fenômeno o regionalismo pós-liberal. O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar os fatores políticos e econômicos que influenciaram a posição brasileira em relação ao regionalismo sul-americano na última década, mais notadamente no período compreendido entre os anos de 2003 e 2010. A tese aqui defendida é de que a ampliação das ações para o desenvolvimento regional, a qual passa por uma mudança no modelo de regionalismo brasileiro, não é fenômeno meramente conjuntural, resultante de fatores materiais (alta dos preços das commodities) ou ideacionais (chegada ao poder da corrente autonomista representada pelo governo do Partido dos Trabalhadores). Trata-se, isto sim, de um novo imperativo político, qual seja, a legitimação do país no continente em um contexto em que as diferenças políticas e econômicas entre o Brasil e seus vizinhos tornam-se cada vez mais gritantes, e pelo qual far-se-á necessária uma ação para a correção das assimetrias estruturais existentes na região, da qual o Brasil será o principal financiador. Nesse sentido, além de descrever quantitativamente a atuação dos principais vetores de atuação do Brasil no âmbito da integração estrutural no continente (IIRSA, BNDES e FOCEM), busca-se realizar uma análise crítica da atuação do país Banco na região, avaliando se, efetivamente, pode-se verificar uma rationale política consistente e direcionada a partir da ação dos referidos instrumentos de política externa.
