Nanocrystalline La0.8Pb0.2FeO3 has been prepared by the sol-gel method. XRD patterns show that the nanocrystalline La0.8Pb0.2FeO3 is a perovskite phase with the orthorhombic structure and its mean crystallite size is about 19 nm. The influence of Pb ions which replaced the La ions on A-sites can be directly observed from the electrical and sensing properties to H-2 gas. The conductance of La0.8Pb0.2FeO3-based sensor is considerably higher than that of LaFeO3-based sensor, and Pb-doping can enhance the sensitivity to H2 gas. An empirical relationship of R = KCH2alpha with alpha = 0.668 was obtained.

A novel high-average-power pulsed CO2 laser with a unique electrode structure is presented. The operation of a 5-kW transverse-flow CO2 laser with the preionized pulse-train switched technique results in pulsation of the laser power, and the average laser power is about 5 kW. The characteristic of this technique is switching the preionized pulses into pulse trains so as to use the small preionized power (hundreds of watts) to control the large main-discharge power (tens of kilowatts). By this means, the cost and the complexity of the power supply are greatly reduced. The welding of LF2, LF21, LD2, and LY12 aluminum alloy plates has been successfully achieved using this laser. Os diamantes são minerais raros e de alto valor econômico. Estes minerais se formam em condições mantélicas, numa profundidade aproximada de 150 a 200 km e ascendem à superfície englobada em magmas alcalinos e carbonatíticos, nos kimberlitos e lamproitos (depósitos primários). No presente trabalho objetivou-se o estudo da geometria do Kimberlito Régis, o qual pertence à província alcalina do Brasil Meridional, localizado no estado de Minas Gerais, na cidade de Carmo do Paranaíba. Para este estudo foi realizada uma inversão gravimétrica 3D e uma modelagem utilizando dados de gravimetria e os resultados dos estudos de magnetometria (Menezes e La Terra, 2011) e CSAMT (La Terra e Menezes, 2012). As anomalias Bouguer e magnética foram então modeladas a partir de um resultado CSAMT, apresentando como resultado um conduto vulcânico com cerca de 2800 metros de profundidade e 200 metros de largura. Já o resultado da inversão mapeou um corpo com forma de cone invertido, apresentando contrastes de densidade negativos. A metodologia de integração de métodos geofísicos mostrou-se eficiente para estudos exploratórios de kimberlitos, apresentando rapidez e baixo custo quando comparados com os métodos tradicionais.

EU3+ -doped Y3Al5O12 (YAG:Eu3+) phosphors were synthesized by a facile sol-gel combustion method. In this process, citric acid traps the constituent cations and reduces the diffusion length of the precursors. YAG phase is obtained through sintering at 900 degrees C for 2h. There were no intermediate phases such as YAlO3 (YAP) and Y4Al2O9 (YAM) observed. The charge transfer band of nanocrystalline phosphors shows a shift toward the high-energy side, compared with that of amorphous ones due to lower covalency of Eu-O bond for nanocrystalline phosphors. The higher concentration quenching in YAG:EU3+ nanophosphors may be caused by the confinement effect on resonant energy transfer of nanocrystalline. It also indicates that the sol-gel combustion synthesis method provides a good distribution of Eu3+ activators in YAG host. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

The synthesis and optical properties of Y3Al5O12:Tb3+ phosphors are reported in this paper. Y3Al5O12:Tb3+ phosphors were synthesized by a facile solution combustion method. Citric acid traps the constituent cations and also acts as a fuel. Y3Al5O12 (YAG) phase can crystallize through sintering at 900 degrees C for 2 h, and there were no intermediate phases such as YAlO3 (YAP) and Y4Al2O9 (YAM) in the sintering process. The excitation spectra of crystalline Y3Al5O12:Tb3+ are different from that of amorphous one due to the crystal field effect. The emission spectra mainly show D-5(4) -> F-7(6) transition under UV excitation. The higher concentration quenching in Y3Al5O12:Tb3+ nanophosphors may be due to the confinement effect on resonant energy transfer of nanocrystalline. Transparent polycrystalline MgO and TiO2 codoped Al2O3 ceramics were fabricated by conventional solid-state pressureless processing. The absorption, emission and excitation spectra of ( Mg, Ti : Al2O3 ceramics were measured. Owing to charge compensation of Mg2+, only UV absorption around 250nm was observed due to O2- -> Ti4+ charge transfer transitions (CT) when Ti content was low. As a result, the emission peaks of isolated Ti4+ ion located at 280-290nm and 410-420nm were observed. Besides absorption peak of V, ion, the characteristic absorption peak of V, ion centered at 490nm was observed in Mg, Ti) : Al2O3 ceramics when Ti content was high. The emission spectra of Ti3+, ion in polycrystalline Al2O3 ceramics coincide with that of Ti: Al2O3 single crystal.

O objetivo desta tese consistiu em saber se os sentidos compartilhados e os significados construídos sobre o choro das crianças nas creches públicas do município de Juiz de Fora, durante as sessões reflexivas com as coordenadoras/diretoras, produzem espaços de reflexão teórica sobre as práticas capazes de criar uma prática de reflexão. Pelo tipo de problema formulado optei por trabalhar a perspectiva metodológica a partir do paradigma crítico de pesquisa, concretizado na modalidade de pesquisa crítica de colaboração, com enfoque sócio-histórico-cultural. Isto se justifica porque busco compreender o lugar do choro das crianças nas práticas das coordenadoras/diretoras, procurando identificar se a consciência das ações institucionalizadas pode produzir mudanças nas práticas no interior das creches. O corpus discurso da tese constitui-se de 10 sessões reflexivas, cujos dados produzidos foram organizados e analisados a partir da perspectiva teórico-metodológica dos Núcleos de Significação de Aguiar e Ozella (2006). O campo teórico está circunscrito no diálogo entre Vigotski, Bakhtin e Wallon. Isso porque estes autores contribuíram, sobremaneira, para a discussão sobre sentido, significado; linguagem e consciência, zona de desenvolvimento proximal, além do estudo da emoção, em especial, sobre a manifestação do choro da criança no contexto da creche. A arquitetura dos Núcleos de Significação revelou a necessidade de aprofundar questões relacionadas aos diversos olhares para o choro da criança; estratégias para lidar com o choro a partir da visão das coordenadoras/diretoras; o controle/descontrole/não controle do choro; a inter-relação do choro, da creche e da família e, finalmente, a reflexão teórico-prática como possibilidade de reverberação no cotidiano da creche. As análises confirmaram três premissas básicas: a) que a emoção constitui-se como o primeiro recurso de interação com o outro, que antecede a própria representação simbólica e por isso é valioso o aprofundamento deste assunto em cursos de formação; b) quando tornamos a cena vivida mais clara, essa clareza pode trazer elementos para outras possíveis intervenções, para outros possíveis diálogos sobre o choro da criança. A perspectiva de transformação pode acontecer exatamente no diálogo entre o cotidiano, a história e espaços de reflexão; c) que o fundamental, nos contextos de formação, é não focalizar apenas o conteúdo a ser transmitido sem possibilidade de reflexão sobre o próprio contexto a que se destina porque é pelo possível distanciamento e necessário estranhamento das práticas rotineiras, esporadicamente ou quase nunca questionadas, que a reflexão e a crítica se estabelecem.

Nano Y2O3 particles with a spherical shape and narrow size distribution have been prepared by a novel spray combustion method. The experimental procedure is briefly described and the thermodynamical process of the post-heat treatment is investigated in this paper. The precursor fully crystallized when treated at as low as 400 degrees C. Prepared particles showed spherical shape and well dispersibility under different treating conditions. Narrow size distribution of particles was achieved even when the precursor was treated at 1373 K. (C) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Nanocrystalline Zn0.95-xCo0.05AlxO (x=0, 0.01, 0.05) diluted magnetic semiconductors have been synthesized by an auto-combustion method. X-ray diffraction measurements indicated that Al-doped Zn0.95Co0.05O samples had the pure wurtzite structure. X-ray absorption spectroscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscope, energy dispersive spectrometer and Co 2p core-level photoemission spectroscope analyses indicated that Co2+ substituted for Zn2+ without forming any secondary phases or impurities. Resistance measurements showed that the resistance values of Co and Al codoped samples were still so large in the giga magnitude. Magnetic investigations showed that nanocrystalline Al-doped Zn0.95Co0.05O samples had no indication of room temperature ferromagnetism. (C) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
