ABSTRACT: This dissertation retrieves a study involving 49 goats and 45 kids of Serpentina breed, 24 goats and 28 kids of Chamequeira breed exploited in an extensive management. It is intended as a contribution to the characterization of these breeds. To this end, various reproductive parameters were calculated. The fertility stood at 92% in both breeds and the prolificacy in the breed Serpentina was 160% (62.5% in twin births) and in the breed of Chamequeira was 141% (57.1% in twin births). We noted a mortality rate in kids from birth to weaning higher in the Serpentina breed (15.7%), while the Chamequeira breed recorded 6.6%. The evolution of the weights during the mating period to childbirth, increasing 17% in the Serpentina breed and 13.6% in Chamequeira breed. We noted significant variations in each breed, but not between each other. The kids resulting of simple birth had higher average daily weight gain from birth to weaning. We did not note significant variations of weight between males and females. We analysed the carcasses of 24 male kids. The corrected yield was 52% for both breeds and the muscle-bone ratio was 2,13 (Chamequeira) and 2,12 (Serpentina). The compactness index for the Chamequeira breed was 11.78 and 11.29 for the Serpentina breed, showing Serpentina breed had better conformation. We proposed the following cuts in the carcass: I-Shovel, II Leg, III- Rib +Sela, IV-Aba and V-Neck. We also analysed the muscle according to their fat, protein, calcium and phosphorus, aiming to show the dietary interest of this muscle.

This thesis studies the state-of-the-art of phasor measurement units (PMUs) as well as their metrological requirements stated in the IEEE C37.118.1 and C37.118.2 Standards for guaranteeing correct measurement performances. Communication systems among PMUs and their possible applicability in the field of power quality (PQ) assessment are also investigated. This preliminary study is followed by an analysis of the working principle of real-time (RT) simulators and the importance of hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) implementation, examining the possible case studies specific for PMUs, including compliance tests which are one of the most important parts. The core of the thesis is focused on the implementation of a PMU model in the IEEE 5-bus network in Simulink and in the validation of the results using OPAL RT-4510 as a real-time simulator. An initial check allows one to get an idea about the goodness of the results in Simulink, comparing the PMU data with respect to the load-flow steady-state information. In this part, accuracy indices are also calculated for both voltage and current synchrophasors. The following part consists in the implementation of the same code in OPAL-RT 4510 simulator, after which an initial analysis is carried out in a qualitative way in order to get a sense of the goodness of the outcomes. Finally, the confirmation of the results is based on an examination of the attained voltage and current synchrophasors and accuracy indices coming from Simulink models and from OPAL system, using a Matlab script. This work also proposes suggestions for an upcoming operation of PMUs in a more complex system as the Digital Twin (DT) in order to improve the performances of the already-existing protection devices of the distribution system operator (DSO) for a future enhancement of power systems reliability.

Neural representations (NR) have emerged in the last few years as a powerful tool to represent signals from several domains, such as images, 3D shapes, or audio. Indeed, deep neural networks have been shown capable of approximating continuous functions that describe a given signal with theoretical infinite resolution. This finding allows obtaining representations whose memory footprint is fixed and decoupled from the resolution at which the underlying signal can be sampled, something that is not possible with traditional discrete representations, e.g., grids of pixels for images or voxels for 3D shapes. During the last two years, many techniques have been proposed to improve the capability of NR to approximate high-frequency details and to make the optimization procedures required to obtain NR less demanding both in terms of time and data requirements, motivating many researchers to deploy NR as the main form of data representation for complex pipelines. Following this line of research, we first show that NR can approximate precisely Unsigned Distance Functions, providing an effective way to represent garments that feature open 3D surfaces and unknown topology. Then, we present a pipeline to obtain in a few minutes a compact Neural Twin® for a given object, by exploiting the recent advances in modeling neural radiance fields. Furthermore, we move a step in the direction of adopting NR as a standalone representation, by considering the possibility of performing downstream tasks by processing directly the NR weights. We first show that deep neural networks can be compressed into compact latent codes. Then, we show how this technique can be exploited to perform deep learning on implicit neural representations (INR) of 3D shapes, by only looking at the weights of the networks.
