The research originates in the necessity to bring a new systematic archaeological perspective to the prehistoric background of northern Apulia. Therefore, the aim of the R.P.C.M. Apulia project is to shed new light on a specific chronological arch, from the Neolithic to Early Bronze Age, of the northern part of the Apulia, because the related studies resulted updated to the 70-80’s with some sporadic exception. Moreover, addressing the investigation to the relationship between the communities and the landscape, so how they could exploit the lands and how they could move into this area keeping in touch. To reconstruct the Prehistorical dynamics, it has been necessary first of all to create a database containing all the information about the sites thus to validate them and classifying them according to a model specifically built. The storing operation has been conducted with the software ArcGIS v.10.1 and the sites have been georeferenced on the map as points. It provided the basis on which developing the analysis concerning the mobility (Least Cost Path) and landscape perception (Fuzzy Viewshed Analysis). The first one has been considered to evaluate the mobility into the study area. Therefore, to generate sample paths on the base of the time in reaching a specific point and the terrain trend. The gained information has been collected to hypothesize how they could keep in touch across the chronological changes for purposes related to trading/idea/people exchanges. The visibility analysis has been led to grasp how the groups perceived the landscape through the sight. This datum covered an important role, especially from the Copper Age, concerning the domain and control of the trading ways. The data coming from the mentioned analysis have been used to read into the settlement choices according to the development of the new socio-economic relationships and plan survey activity.

Sensory analysis is a scientific discipline used to evoke, measure, analyse and interpret the responses to products that are perceived by the senses of sight, smell, taste, touch and hearing. This science is used to highlight the strengths and characteristics of a product, such as in the case of research and development products where alternative ingredients, food waste or by-products are used. It can also be used to evaluate the same characteristics over time, to highlight alterations in one of the sensory components at a given time or over time. This doctoral thesis deals with the valorisation, through characterisation, of various aquaculture fish products. In particular, the products covered by this study were analysed, depending on the objective pursued, with different sensory methods using trained judges and in one case consumers. Therefore, the sensory characterisation of the products was useful for investigating the foods considered in this doctoral research. In particular, specific research topics were taken: 1. The study of alternative ingredients, such as the outcomes of different levels of inclusion of insect larvae (Hermetia illucens) meal on the quality of sea bream (Sparus aurata) fillets. 2. The study of consumer expectations and perceptions on the use of insect meal as a feed for aquaculture products. In particular, this study was done after the characterisation by Quantitative Descriptive analysis (QDA) of the products to exclude sensory differences. 3. Development of a non-destructive and cheap device based on dielectric spectroscopy for assessing fish freshness. In particular in this study, the developed device was evaluated in correlation with a sensory method for assessing the freshness of fish product, the Quality Index Method (QIM)

The goal of this final dissertation is to propose a partial translation of the Young Adult novel I Wish You All the Best by nonbinary author Mason Deaver, which was published in the United States by PUSH in 2019 and is currently still unpublished in Italy. The book follows the story of eighteen-year-old Ben De Backer. After coming out as nonbinary to their parents, they are kicked out of their home; thanks to the help of their older sister, they will manage to get back on their feet and start a new life, although their trauma will continue to pose a great obstacle to their growth and happiness. I Wish You All the Best is one of the first novels with a nonbinary protagonist in the Young Adult category and is particularly interesting from a linguistic standpoint. The first chapter serves as introduction to the author, Mason Deaver, their life and their relationship with gender identity and writing; and also as an introduction to the book itself and how its main characters and themes are developed in relation to the plot. The second chapter looks at the Young Adult genre as a whole; it explores its origins and development through the years and seeks to find a definition for this type of literature which has often been misrepresented both in the eyes of literary critics and the general public. Additionally, the chapter will describe some of the main characteristics of YA literature and analyze them in relation to I Wish You All the Best. The third chapter aims to examine the role of language, and how it can be inclusive to people outside of the gender binary. It will also touch upon the sociocultural contexts in which the speakers of different languages operate. The fourth and final chapter will present the translation of several passages taken from the novel I Wish You All the Best and offer an analysis of the most interesting and difficult aspects of this translation process.

This paper intends to underline the importance of nonverbal cues in intercultural communication and especially in the profession of the interpreter in the public services. The first chapter focuses on giving an overview on the different components of nonverbal communication by providing a definition and examples. The chapter then analyses the different functions carried out by nonverbal language. The second chapter addresses cultural differences related to nonverbal language and provides examples for every component of nonverbal language. It also explains the distinction between high context cultures and low context cultures. Lastly, the third chapter first gives an overview on Public Service Interpreting (PSI), explaining the main features and characteristics. It then provides real examples of cultural misunderstandings related to nonverbal language which occurred in public services and gives the techniques used by interpreters to solve them. This chapter includes examples of various nonverbal cues including eye contact, touch, silence, and hand gestures.

The newly inaugurated Navile District of the University of Bologna is a complex created along the Navile canal, that now houses various teaching and research activities for the disciplines of Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Pharmacy, Biotechnology and Astronomy. A Building Information Modeling system (BIM) gives staff of the Navile campus several ways to monitor buildings in the complex throughout their life cycle, one of which is the ability to access real-time environmental data such as room temperature, humidity, air composition, and more, thereby simplifying operations like finding faults and optimizing environmental resource usage. But smart features at Navile are not only available to the staff: AlmaMap Navile is a web application, whose development is documented in this thesis, that powers the public touch kiosks available throughout the campus, offering maps of the district and indications on how to reach buildings and spaces. Even if these two systems, BIM and AlmaMap, don't seem to have many similarities, they share the common intent of promoting awareness for informed decision making in the campus, and they do it while relying on web standards for communication. This opens up interesting possibilities, and is the idea behind AlmaMap Navile 2.0, an app that interfaces with the BIM system and combines real-time sensor data with a comfort calculation algorithm, giving users the ability not just to ask for directions to a space, but also to see its comfort level in advance and, should they want to, check environmental measurements coming from each sensor in a granular manner. The end result is a first step towards building a smart campus Digital Twin, that can support all the people who are part of the campus life in their daily activities, improving their efficiency and satisfaction, giving them the ability to make informed decisions, and promoting awareness and sustainability.
