A transição do século XX para o século XXI trouxe consigo uma série de mudanças, em especial às organizações, que vivenciaram evoluções de ordem tecnológica impactantes em sua estrutura administrativa e econômica. As agências de publicidade, apesar de terem um enfoque voltado ao aspecto criativo, não deixam de ser organizações, e assim como as demais também vivenciam este ciclo de mudanças, que aparenta ser ininterrupto. A importância do planejamento estratégico e financeiro e do atendimento integrado aos clientes proporcionou às agências novas perspectivas de funcionamento, e nelas enquadram-se as fusões/aquisições. Agências internacionais optaram por participar do mercado publicitário brasileiro através de fusões/aquisições; estas ocorreram com agências de bastante expressão no mercado internacional, mas também com agências menos conhecidas, mas que demonstraram a realização de bons trabalhos no setor. Através deste estudo realizou-se uma análise a respeito do mercado de fusões e aquisições de agências de publicidade, em especial, sob a perspectiva financeira. Através da base de dados lançada no Software SPSS foi aplicado o Teste T. Constatou-se que as agências de publicidade no Brasil entre 1999 a 2009 não apresentaram diferenças de média em relação ao faturamento, independente de terem passado ou não pelo processo de fusão/aquisição. Este crescimento pouco representativo demonstra que as fusões/aquisições tendem a ocorrer por diversos motivos e não se restringem exclusivamente ao aspecto financeiro, a perspectiva de bom atendimento ao cliente, visando o planejamento estratégico no âmbito publicitário, tende a ser um deles.

O presente estudo teve por objetivos a) investigar as repercussões da ausência paterna sobre o desenvolvimento da criança; b) descrever o conteúdo intrapsíquico de crianças com pais presentes e de crianças com pais ausentes no lar. Para tanto foram estudados três casos de crianças em idade escolar que freqüentavam uma instituição não governamental da cidade de Santos e utilizou-se dos instrumentos entrevista semi-estruturada com as mães e Procedimento de Desenho-Estória com Tema com as crianças. A aplicação foi feita nos seguintes termos, pediu-se ao participante que desenhasse uma criança e, em seguida que contasse uma estória sobre o desenho. Após, foi solicitado à criança que desenhasse o pai dessa criança e que contasse uma estória sobre esse mesmo desenho. Optamos também por aplicar o Teste das Matrizes Coloridas de Raven - Escala Especial com as crianças. Embora cada caso tivesse revelado suas peculiaridades, os resultados mostraram indicativos de distúrbios da identidade sexual, desamparo, insegurança, tendências depressivas, além de associação entre a ausência paterna, déficit cognitivo e/ou inibição intelectual. Foi também observado em um dos casos, dificuldades da mãe em permitir que o pai paternasse . Concluiu-se que a ausência paterna foi percebida pela criança não somente como a falta da pessoa do pai no lar, mas sim por sua omissão; somando-se ao fato de que a internalização da figura paterna não pareceu determinada pelo laço biológico, mas sim pela possibilidade de oferecimento à criança de identificação e afeto. Entendeu-se com esse estudo que o desenvolvimento psíquico saudável pode ser facilitado pela introjeção das boas figuras materno/paternas pela criança. Sendo assim, estudos dedicados ao tema da paternidade são tão importantes de serem explorados na atualidade quanto o foram aqueles destinados à maternidade ao longo da história da psicologia do desenvolvimento e da psicanálise. This study aimed to evaluate the influence of the main meteorological mechanisms trainers and inhibitors of precipitation, and the interactions between different scales of operation, the spatial and temporal variability of the annual cycle of precipitation in the Rio Grande do Norte. Além disso, considerando as circunstâncias locais e regionais, criando assim uma base científica para apoiar ações futuras na gestão da demanda de água no Estado. Database from monthly precipitation of 45 years, ranging between 1963 and 2007, data provided by EMPARN. The methodology used to achieve the results was initially composed of descriptive statistical analysis of historical data to prove the stability of the series, were applied after, geostatistics tool for plotting maps of the variables, within the geostatistical we opted for by Kriging interpolation method because it was the method that showed the best results and minor errors. Among the results, we highlight the annual cycle of rainfall the State which is influenced by meteorological mechanisms of different spatial and temporal scales, where the main mechanisms cycle modulators are the Conference Intertropical Zone (ITCZ) acting since midFebruary to mid May throughout the state, waves Leste (OL), Lines of instability (LI), breeze systems and orographic rainfall acting mainly in the Coastal strip between February and July. Along with vortice of high levels (VCANs), Complex Mesoscale Convective (CCMs) and orographic rain in any region of the state mainly in spring and summer. In terms of larger scale phenomena stood out El Niño and La Niña, ENSO in the tropical Pacific basin. In La Niña episodes usually occur normal or rainy years, as upon the occurrence of prolonged periods of drought are influenced by EL NIÑO. In the Atlantic Ocean the standard Dipole also affects the intensity of the rainfall cycle in State. The cycle of rains in Rio Grande do Norte is divided into two periods, one comprising the regions West, Central and the Western Portion of the Wasteland Potiguar mesoregions of west Chapada Borborema, causing rains from midFebruary to mid-May and a second period of cycle, between February-July, where rains occur in mesoregions East and of the Wasteland, located upwind of the Chapada Borborema, both interspersed with dry periods without occurrence of significant rainfall and transition periods of rainy - dry and dry-rainy where isolated rainfall occur. Approximately 82% of the rainfall stations of the state which corresponds to 83.4% of the total area of Rio Grande do Norte, do not record annual volumes above 900 mm. Because the water supply of the State be maintained by small reservoirs already are in an advanced state of eutrophication, when the rains occur, act to wash and replace the water in the reservoirs, improving the quality of these, reducing the eutrophication process. When rain they do not significantly occur or after long periods of shortages, the process of eutrophication and deterioration of water in dams increased significantly. Through knowledge of the behavior of the annual cycle of rainfall can have an intimate knowledge of how it may be the tendency of rainy or prone to shortages following period, mainly observing the trends of larger scale phenomena

Base excision repair (BER) proteins has been associated with functions beyond DNA repair. Apurynic/apyrimidinic endonuclease 1 (APE1) is a multifunctional protein involved in a plethora of cellular activities, such as redox activation of transcription factors, RNA processing and DNA repair. Some studies have described the action of the protein 8-oxoguanine (OGG1) in correcting oxidized lesions in promoters as a step in the transcription of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Despite being especially important in redox activation of transcription factors such as nuclear factor κB (NF-κB) and AP- 1, the repair activity of APE1 has not yet been associated with the inflammatory response. In this study, experimental and bioinformatic analysis approaches have been used to investigate the relationship between inhibition of the repair of abasic sites in DNA by MX, a synthetic molecule designed to inhibt the repair activity of APE1, and the modulation of the inflammatory response. The results showed that treatment of monocytes with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and MX reduced the expression of cytokines, chemokines and toll-like receptors, and negatively regulated biological immune processes, as macrophages activation, and NF-κB and tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α) and interferon pathways, without inducing cell death. The transcriptomic analysis suggests that LPS/MX treatment induces mitochondrial dysfunction, endoplasmic reticulum stress and activation of autophagy pathways, probably activated by impairment of cellular energy and/or the accumulation of nuclear and mitochondria DNA damage. Additionally, it is proposed that the repair activity of APE1 is required for transcription of inflammatory genes by interaction with abasic sites at specific promoters and recruitment of transcriptional complexes during inflammatory signaling. This work presents a new perspective on the interactions between the BER activity and the modulation of inflammatory response, and suggests a new activity for APE1 protein as modulator of the immune response in a redox-independent manner.

The therapeutic use of medicinal plants has contributed since antiquity in a beneficial way for health. However, many species lacks of scientific evidence which provide basis for their use in therapeutic practice. In this context is the Genipa americana L. species (Rubiaceae), popularly known as jenipapo and used to treat syfilis, ulcer and hemorrhagic disturbs. It's also used against bruising, as tonic and as aphrodisiac. Due this species lacks toxicological studies, the aim of this study was to evaluate the toxicity in vivo (acute and sub-chronic toxicity) and in vitro (cytotoxicity) of the hydroethanolic extract from G. americana fruits. The hydroethanolic extract of G. americana fruits was prepared by maceration. A preliminary phytochemical analysis was performed to assess the presence of secondary metabolites in the extract. The cytotoxicity study of the extract (0.1, 1.0, 10, 100 and 1000 mg / 100 ul) were performed against normal cells (3T3) and tumor (786-0, HepG2 and B16), analyzed by the MTT assay. To evaluate the acute (single dose of 2000 mg / Kg) and subchronic (100, 500 and 1000 mg / kg for 30 days) toxicity Swiss mice of both sexes were used. At the end of the experiment, blood samples and organs were collected for analysis. Data between groups were compared by t test or ANOVA with Dunnett's post-test with 5% significance level. The phytochemical study of the extracts mainly indicated the presence of iridoids. Results for cytotoxicity tests showed up to 70% inhibition of B16 cell line at a dose of 1000 mg / 100 ul, and up to 29% inhibition of 786-0 at a dose of 10 ug / 100 ul. The extract did not cause death in 3T3 and HepG2 cells. During the in vivo assays, there were no animal deaths. Analysis of blood samples revealed that the animals submitted to the evaluation of acute toxicity had changes in AST and ALT, and that the animals evaluated for subchronic toxicity showed changes in the relative wet weight of the kidney and plasma urea concentration. No differences were observed between groups on histopathological evaluation of the collected organs. Despite the changes found in the in vivo toxicity tests, using the criteria described by the OECD Guidelines, it is suggested that the hydroethanolic extract of the fruits of the G. americana is classified as low toxicity. The cytotoxicity of the extract suggests that they have potential against melanoma cell lines (B16).

Snakebites are a serious public health problem in tropical and subtropical countries and Bothrops genus is responsible for the accidents in Brazil and throughout Latin America (90% of cases). The local effects (pain, edema, hemorrhage and myonecrosis) and systemic (cardiovascular alterations, shock and blood clotting disorders) caused by the venom of Bothrops are due to the numerous protein and non-protein components, which are part of the constitution of the poison. The only form of therapy is scientifically validated antivenom serum therapy which, however, is not effective with respect to local effects produced, risk of immunological reactions, high cost and difficult access in some regions. Thus, the search for new alternatives to serum therapy becomes important, and in this context, many medicinal plants have been highlighted by the popular use as antiophidic. Among these plants, we can mention the species Jatropha mollissima (Euphorbiaceae) which has popular use in traditional medicine as antiophidic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antipyretic. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the neutralizing potential of local effects induced by the venom of Bothrops erythromelas and Bothrops jararaca with the aqueous extract of the leaves of J. mollissima. The leaf extracts were prepared by decoction, fractionated (by liquid-liquid partition) and characterized by thin layer chromatography (TLC) and High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). Antiophidic activity of the extract was evaluated in model of paw edema, peritonitis, bleeding and myotoxicity induced by venoms of B. jararaca and B. erythromelas. In all models, the extract was evaluated by intraperitoneal route at the doses of 50, 100 and 200 mg/kg, administered 30 minutes prior to injection of the venom (pretreatment protocol). Stains suggestive of the presence of flavonoids: apigenin, luteolin, orientin, isoorientin, vitexin and vitexin-2-O-rhamnoside were detected in the extract by co-CCD. By means of HPLC were identified isoorientin, orientin, vitexin and isovitexin. All tested doses of J. mollissima extract reduced the paw edema induced by the venom with intensity similar to dexamethasone. The aqueous extract of J. mollissima leaves on all evaluated doses, inhibited cell migration induced by B. jararaca and B. erythromelas promoting inhibition of recruitment of mononuclear cells and the polymorphonuclear cells. Local bleeding induced by B. jararaca venom was significantly inhibited by the extract. Both venoms were inhibited by the extract in myotoxic activity. These results indicate that the aqueous extract of J. mollissima leaves have snakebite potential, particularly with respect to local effects, which may justify the use of this plant in traditional medicine and complementary therapy as anti-venom serum.

Objetivos: O presente estudo insere-se no Projeto - Estudos Normativos de Instrumentos Neuropsicologicos (ENIN) e tem por objetivo analisar as propriedades psicométricas do Teste Stroop, fornecendo dados normativos de uma amostra da População Portuguesa. Métodos: Selecionámos e inquirimos 671 sujeitos. As variáveis independentes estudadas foram idade, sexo, escolaridade e profissão. Foram utilizados vários testes neste estudo, contribuindo para a obtenção de validade convergente: Bateria de Avaliação Frontal-FAB, Figura Complexa de Rey-Osterrieth e Teste do Relógio. Foram estudadas a consistência interna e a estabilidade temporal do Teste Stroop. Resultados: A nossa amostra ficou constituída por 310 sujeitos (46,2%) do sexo masculino e 361 (53,8%) do sexo feminino, com idades compreendidas entre os 18 e 100 anos (M = 41,12; DP = 20,85). No que se refere ao nível de escolaridade (M = 5,71; DP = 1,45), este variou entre o 1º Ciclo do Ensino Básico e o Ensino Superior. As profissões, exercidas inseriram-se maioritariamente na categoria das profissões intelectuais (N = 281; 84,9%). Relativamente às variáveis sociodemográficas, verificámos que a idade, sexo, escolaridade e profissão influenciam nas provas de Leitura e Nomeação de Cor do Teste Stroop. No que diz respeito à validade convergente, observámos que a prova de Nomeação de Cor apresentou correlações positivas fracas com o FAB, Figura Complexa de Rey-Cópia (FCR-Cópia) e Teste do Relógio, e correlações positivas moderadas com a prova de Leitura. A consistência interna do Teste Stroop apresentou uma elevada confiabilidade (α = 0,99). A correlação teste-reteste apenas se mostrou significativa para a prova de Nomeação de Cor. Conclusão: Este estudo mostra que o Teste Stroop é promissoriamente confiável como instrumento de avaliação neuropsicológica, podendo potencialmente ser utilizado para qualquer faixa etária da população. Em estudos futuros são necessárias amostras com números mais elevados de participantes nas faixas etárias acima dos 30 anos, representativas dos níveis de escolaridade abaixo do 9ºano, a exercerem profissões manuais, e com residência noutras regiões geográficas para além do Centro. / Objectives: The present study is part of the Project - Estudos Normativos de Instrumentos Neuropsicologicos (ENIN) and aims to analyze the psychometric properties of the Stroop test. Methods: We have selected, and we also enquired 671 subjects. The independent variables studied were age, gender, education and profession. Several tests were used in this study for analysis of convergent validity: convergent validity: Frontal Assessment Battery-FAB, Complex Figure Rey-Osterrieth and the clock test. We also studied the internal consistency and the temporal stability of the Stroop test. Results: Our sample was composed of 310 subjects (46.2%) male and 361 (53.8%) females, with ages between 18 and 100 years (M = 41.12; SD = 20.85). The level of schooling (M = 5.71; SD = 1.45) ranged between the 1st cycle and the Higher Education. The professions were mainly intellectual ones (N = 281; 84.9%). On sociodemographic variables, we found that the age, sex, education and profession influenced reading and Color naming of Stroop test. Regarding convergent validity, Color naming showed weak positive correlations with the FAB, Complex Figure Rey-Copy, and the clock test. Color naming moderate positive correlations with the reading. The internal consistency of the Stroop test was high (α = 0.99). The test-retest correlation was significant only for Color naming. Conclusion: This study shows that the Stroop test is promissory reliable instrument of neuropsychological assessment and may potentially be used for any age range of the population. In future research, it is necessary to enroll samples with higher numbers of participants above 30 years, representative of the levels of schooling below the 9º grade, with more manual professions represented, and with residence in other geographic regions in addition to the Center region of Portugal.
