The object of this work was to study the dynamics of evaporation in the Itumbiara reservoir, located in Central Brazil, using MODIS-derived water surface temperature (product MOD11A1) and meteorological data acquired over the water surface. The evaporation rates were derived from latent heat flux, estimated through a mass transfer model. The estimates were carried out for the period between 1/1/2010 and 31/12/2010. The results showed that evaporation rate tends to increase from January to September and then decrease from September to December. The evaporation rate reached values near 20 mm day-1 in Itumbiara reservoir during the dry season in 2010. The mean evaporation rate for the wet season was 3.66 mm day-1 and 8.25 mm day-1 for the dry season. The total water volume evaporated from Itumbiara reservoir during 2010 was estimated at about 1.7 billion m³ (2,300 mm) which represents 10% of total reservoir volume. The results suggest that advection is the main transport mechanism which drives the evaporation in Itumbiara. The convective processes contribute secondarily to evaporation in Itumbiara reservoir.

The petrochemical industry represents a sector of intense activity, in constant expansion and great economic importance for Brazil. In order to be used in various human activities petroleum needs to suffer a refinement process that, besides requiring large amounts of water, produces large amounts of wastes, which are discharged in hydric resources. Petroleum is a complex mixture mainly comprised by hydrocarbons, many of them are recognized as toxic chemicals, which are able to induce a considerable environmental pollution. Since water is an important resource for the maintenance of ecosystems and is also the final receiver of effluent discharges of the petroleum industry, there is an imminent need to monitor, constantly, the hydric resources that are influenced by this industrial activity, so that it can be ensured the environmental health. This study aimed, mainly, to analyze the quality of water samples derived from refinement process performed of the largest petroleum refinery in Brazil (REPLAN), in distinct steps of the industry treatment, and waters of rivers associated to its activity. Micronuclei and Nuclear Abnormalities tests were performed in erythrocytes of the fish species Oreochromis niloticus exposed to water samples derived from refinery use and to rivers under the influence of their effluents, in order to evaluate its possible toxic, genotoxic and mutagenic effects. The results obtained show that the treatment carried out by the refinery, during the evaluated periods, was effective, since the substances present in the water samples did not induce significant genotoxic and/or mutagenic alterations in the genetic material of the test organisms. Introduction: Spinal cord injury occurs due to interuption in nerve stimuli and could caused from traumatic and non-traumatic illnes. After spinal cord, there are problems in personal life activities affecting ou modifying personal life and provoking impacts in his own life. International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Healthy (ICF) consider and analyse more than the illness ou injury and include informations about functionality in differents domains as activities, participation and enviroment. Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate functionality wheelchair athlets with spinal cord injury using ICF. Metodology: For this research, it was evaluated 60 athlets with spinal cord injury who were practicing wheelchair basqketball, using the Checklist corresponding to the main ICF categories and othes Identity Protocol with personal datas, lesion time, lesion level and functional classification from bwheelchair basketball. Results: In analyses, we identify in quartis data, that in Body Fucntion, median was 56,67% from all athlets with light and moderate qualifications; In Body Strutucture, the median was 60% for light qualifications; in Activities and Participation, this median corresponded to 91% and in Enviroment Factors, 51,67% feel that this enviroment was facilitator... This paper addresses the context of emissions of Greenhouse Gases (GHG) from activities related to Coal, called fugitive emissions. The survey of factors, development, analysis, and suggestions for controlling emissions are conducted in order to reduce risks to the environment and people around it. The greenhouse gases absorb radiation, emitted by the Earth’s surface, and hinder their escape into space. This process is essential to terrestrial life. Increasing the concentration of those gases in the atmosphere has led to an increase in the terrestrial temperature. A selection of processes that emit gases and the study and development of calculations for measuring fugitive emissions applied in different sources from coal are performed. The greenhouse gases can be released from the extraction, processing, storage, and transportation of fossil fuels to the end consumer. Coal has 4 main fugitive factors: mining, post-mining, oxidation at low temperature, and uncontrolled combustion. The coal formation process produces methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2), being the methane, the main greenhouse gas from the coal mining and handling. The types of activities and the weight of each in the issuing process are observed. It is also made comparisons between the countries with the highest emissions rates. Are evaluated what has been done and what is needed to decrease emissions, for example the use of gas as an alternative fuel for energy generation

The current curriculum policy of the Secretary of Education in the State of Sao Paulo introduced into the education environment the Registrar of Teacher and Student - support material to ease the teacher's work and the student's learning, in order to address all the curriculum components created as strategy of learning. The resulting guidelines that aim to transform the everyday policies of educational institutions and the individuals who compose them, are incorporated into the school experience. These decisions, however, do not transfer into life outside the learning environment nor are they translated into the work of the teachers exactly as their creators intended. Thus, in order to better understand the curriculum policies introduced by the Registrar in schools, it is essential to comprehend the viewpoint of the teachers who themselves are both the targets and agents of curriculum policy, and later the Registrar. For that was made reflexive interviews with eigth teachers that teach in São Paulo metropolitan region, than we could see that they adapt their external determinations in their own reality

Por meio da Secretaria Municipal de Educação, a prefeitura do município de Botucatu implantou, em 2005, um de seus mais importantes projetos de educação complementar, a Escola do Meio Ambiente (EMA). Desde a sua fundação, a EMA tem por objetivo desenvolver e apoiar práticas pedagógicas e pesquisas, que visam à conscientização e responsabilidade socioambiental. Dentre suas diversas atividades, está a Trilha Interpretativa do Patrimônio Histórico, voltada, principalmente, para o 1º e o 9º ano do Ensino Fundamental. O caminho interpretado resgata a cidadania, proporcionando ao aluno recuperar as memórias históricas da cidade, reafirmar a sua identidade e consequentemente, buscar a sua valorização pessoal e social. A história do município começa a sair de um misterioso e velho baú. O momento possibilita abrir espaço para a arte da narrativa. Um cocar fala da cultura indígena, um chapéu de palha, nos leva à época dos tropeiros e um mapa de feltro exemplifica o processo de imigração. Ao término da vivência, os educandos saem à rua, para conhecer, em detalhes, os prédios que ajudaram a construir a nossa história. Através dos métodos de avaliação, utilizados nesses três anos, anotações sobre as observações feitas em trilhas e questionários respondidos pelos professores, pudemos constatar que os alunos sabem muito pouco sobre a cidade e que possuem dificuldade de relacionar fatos históricos com a sua própria existência e com as mudanças que promovem no meio. Observou-se que além de tratar com descaso os prédios históricos, os alunos não conseguem citar dados sobre a fauna e a flora local. O mais preocupante é o fato de que para eles, a cidade não representa o meio ambiente. Logo, ficou clara a necessidade de se produzir um material de apoio que tivesse por objetivo preencher estas... O estudo foi realizado numa área degradada pertencente ao campus da UNESP em Rio Claro, e teve como objetivo avaliar a eficiência do método de nucleação para recuperação de áreas degradadas do tipo “transposição de galharia” na atração de fauna. As pilhas de galhos podem funcionar como abrigos artificiais, atraindo potenciais dispersores de sementes secundários, o que potencialmente abreviaria o processo de regeneração de um ambiente degradado. O estudo foi feito através do levantamento de pequenos mamíferos por armadilhas de interceptação e queda em quatro parcelas de 2500 m², sendo duas delas com o tratamento (pilhas de galhos), e duas funcionando como controle, e o resultado esperado seria uma maior quantidade de indivíduos capturados e de gêneros taxonômicos nas parcelas com o tratamento. Entretanto, as quantidades totais de indivíduos capturados no bloco das parcelas com tratamento e no bloco das parcelas controle foram, segundo o teste de Mann-Whitman, estatisticamente idênticos. Também a quantidade de gêneros taxonômicos capturados foi igual nos dois blocos. Desta forma, concluímos que o método “transposição de galharia” foi ineficiente neste estudo, da forma como foi empregado, não contribuindo para um aumento na fauna de pequenos roedores e marsupiais. O método pode ter fracassado devido a pequena quantidade de pilhas de galhos utilizados para o tamanho da área, como também pelo recobrimento da área por uma grande quantidade de gramíneas, que podem ter funcionado por si só como abrigo para os animais capturados, além de poderinibir a entrada de outros gêneros de pequenos mamíferos não-voadores. Sugerimos portanto, para o método ser mais eficiente, a colocação de uma maior quantidade de pilhas de galhos do que a utilizada no presente estudo, e elas devem ser maiores. Understanding the linkages between the natural elements is essential for being promoted the land use, occupation and sustainable management of environmental systems. Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE), as a predictive model of erosion, is important to allowing the prevention of possible environmental impacts which may drastically interfere in natural or anthropic environments, as well as prevent potential financial wastes and even contribute to greater efficiency of agricultural production. This research will be working some USLE parameters, emphasizing topographic factor from Ribeirão Monjolo Grande watershed. Among the factors considered by the USLE, the Topographic Factor interferes directly in the erosive dynamic of a watershed because it involves variables related to hydrological processes that occur on it. In this research, were discussed different methods for obtaining the Topographic Factor (BERTONI e LOMBARDI NETO, 1985; MOORE e BURCH, 1986; DESMET E GOVERS, 1996) in GIS environment. After comparison between the methods, was indicated that best represents the conditions of geometry strand of the study area. Finally, other factors (R, K, C, P) considered by the USLE were obtained. The attainment of these parameters were guided by the use of geotechnologies, especially in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), with the assistance of secondary data and periodic field visits. The results obtained contributed to the understanding of hydrosedimentological dynamic in this area and serve as a viable strategy for studies of soil loss, aiming at developing consistent material for future researches about environmental planning and land management
