Reacciones y protestas de agricultores e inmigrantes en El Ejido : Un municipio español inserto en las dinámicas de la globalización

El Ejido es una ciudad del sudeste español que ha pasado de ser una pequeña aldea dedicada a la agricultura de subsistencia, a principios de 1960, a tener en 2015 más de 85.000 habitantes. Este cambio se debe al desarrollo de una economía de invernaderos muy próspera que hoy está totalmente inserta en las dinámicas de la globalización. Tales dinámicas han ocasionado efectos contradictorios y han suscitado reacciones y/o formas de protesta diferentes en los dos principales actores sociales de El Ejido (los agricultores y los inmigrantes), entre los que se observan profundas asimetrías socioeconómicas y relaciones de explotación laboral. Como consecuencia, los inmigrantes y los agricultores viven en dos mundos sociales completamente diferentes y tienen percepciones y actitudes opuestas sobre la realidad, las cuales, a su vez, afectan a sus respectivas posibilidades y modos de reacción y/o de protesta

A Reinvenção do Cotidiano: Memória e história de missionários e ex-marginalizados do centro de São Paulo

Esta dissertação procura aliar os novos pressupostos teóricos e metodológicos da Nova História Cultural ao estudo da religião a partir da atuação da Comunidade Evangélica Nova Aurora. Através do discurso religioso evangélico e do oferecimento de recursos básicos, CENA tem como um de seus principais objetivos recuperar pessoas excluídas e marginalizadas que vivem em ambientes precários e principalmente nas ruas do centro velho da capital paulista. O texto reconstrói o contexto e o cotidiano do projeto, intentando captar sua história através das múltiplas percepções dos sujeitos envolvidos. Pergunta também pelos deslocamentos que ocorrem no imaginário religioso, onsiderando-se a norma institucionalizada no campo protestante. Para compor a documentação deste trabalho, nos valemos dos métodos da história oral, colhendo depoimentos dos protagonistas desta realidade e expondo uma trajetória histórica da Comunidade a partir da memória religiosa de sujeitos normalmente esquecidos como atores históricos.(AU)

Symbiotic approaches to work and technology

Symbiotic design methods aim to take into account technical, social and organizational criteria simultaneously. Over the years, many symbiotic methods have been developed and applied in various countries. Nevertheless, the diagnosis that only technical criteria receive attention in the design of production systems, is still made repeatedly. Examples of symbiotic approaches are presented at three different levels: technical systems, organizations, and the process. From these, discussion points are generated concerning the character of the approaches, the importance of economic motives, the impact of national environments, the necessity of a guided design process, the use of symbiotic methods, and the roles of participants in the design process.

Individual decision-making by top executives as a valuable resource for strategic management – A resource-based view and dynamic capability approach

Strategy is highly important for organisational success and the achievement of competitive advantage. Strategy is dynamic and it depends on accurate individual decision-making from medium and high-level managers and executives. Since managers always formulate strategy, its formulation depends mostly on their assertive decisions. Making good decisions is a complex task, even more in today’s business world where a large quantity of information and a dynamic environment forces people to decide without having complete information. As Shafir, Simonson, & Tversky (1993) point out, "the making of decisions, both big and small, is often difficult because of uncertainty and conflict". In this paper the author will explain a basic theoretical framework about top manager's individual decision-making, showing how complex the process of making high-impact decisions is; then, he will compare this theory with one of the most important streams in strategic management, the Resource-Based View (RBV) of the firm. Finally, within the context of individual decision-making and the RBV stream, the author will show how individual decision makers in top management positions constitute a valuable, rare, non-imitable and non-substitutable resource that provides sustained competitive advantage.

Resource-based view and dynamic capabilities - Achieving competitive advantage through internal resources and competences

Strategy has always been important for success. Whether strategy is applied for military purposes, in large firms, or even for personal objectives, there are certain key characteristics that every successful strategy carries on: clear, objective and simple goals; deep knowledge and understanding of the competitive environment; objective understanding and exploitation of resources; and an effective plan implementation. In this paper, the author’s attention will be focused on the role of internal resources, routines and processes as the bases of sustained competitive advantage (hereafter SCA) into what is now known as the resourcebased view of the firm (RBV) and Dynamic Capabilities (DC). First, the relevance of RBV and DC approaches and the main characteristics of those are briefly mentioned. Second, RBV and DC are examined as an important piece to achieve SCA. Later on, the author deepens into some examples and the manager’s importance when using these RBV and DC approaches. Then issues related with complexity and undefined concepts in RBV and DC are briefly mentioned. Finally, conclusions and personal comments are presented.

Segmentação fuzzy de objetos tridimensionais com propriedades texturais

Digital image segmentation is the process of assigning distinct labels to different objects in a digital image, and the fuzzy segmentation algorithm has been used successfully in the segmentation of images from several modalities. However, the traditional fuzzy segmentation algorithm fails to segment objects that are characterized by textures whose patterns cannot be successfully described by simple statistics computed over a very restricted area. In this paper we present an extension of the fuzzy segmentation algorithm that achieves the segmentation of textures by employing adaptive affinity functions as long as we extend the algorithm to tridimensional images. The adaptive affinity functions change the size of the area where they compute the texture descriptors, according to the characteristics of the texture being processed, while three dimensional images can be described as a finite set of two-dimensional images. The algorithm then segments the volume image with an appropriate calculation area for each texture, making it possible to produce good estimates of actual volumes of the target structures of the segmentation process. We will perform experiments with synthetic and real data in applications such as segmentation of medical imaging obtained from magnetic rosonance

Aportación a la historia de la farmacia en la provincia de Orense

A principios del S.XX; en el año 1911, en la ciudad de Orense sólo existían ocho farmacias, las de Luis Fábrega Coello, en el Progreso; la de Ramón Aldemira en Hernán Cortés; la de José Fernández Martínez en el Progreso; la de Emilio Meruéndano Pérez en la Plaza Mayor; la de José Francisco Salgado en la calle Bailén; la de Serafín Temes en la Plaza del Hierro y la de Aurelio Fernández Román en el barrio del Puente Mayor, entonces Municipio de Canedo. Con el transcurso de los años, se dieron dos acontecimientos importantes; el represamiento de los cauces de los ríos, aprovechado para la generación de electricidad, y la gran inversión en líneas de ferrocarril que servían de comunicación de Galicia con la Península; esto provocó la expansión de la ciudad y con ella una mayor actividad que, junto a la creación del Colegio Oficial de Farmacéuticos de Ourense provocó un incremento de las farmacias en la provincia, pasando de 56 en 1918 a 126 en 1949...

Plataforma Unidose para Lares

A esperança média de vida tem aumentado quer devido às melhorias que se têm verificado nos serviços de saúde e pela evolução da medicina, levando a uma menor taxa de mortalidade, prolongando-se o tempo de vida da população. As famílias, com vidas cada vez mais preenchidas e atarefadas não conseguem prestar o auxílio e o apoio necessário aos idosos, o que leva a que estes frequentem levando estes a frequentar cada vez mais Lares e Centros de Dia para esta população. Isto leva a que exista da parte das instituições acolhedoras, uma enorme responsabilidade pela saúde dos idosos, sobretudo ao nível da medicação, delegando grandes responsabilidades a funcionários e por conseguinte aos seus funcionários. Os funcionários como seres humanos erram, podendo haver negligência ao darem a toma de medicação aos idosos. Ao nível financeiro, cada vez mais os idosos têm menos capacidades financeiras devido à situação económica do país e alguns acabam mesmo por ter que deixar a medicação para sobreviverem. A Plataforma Unidose para Lares (PUL) é uma solução com o objetivo de contrariar ou resolver estes problemas. É possível utilizar o sistema Unidose, vendendo os comprimidos à unidade, o que torna mais económico, e fazendo também a prevenção da toma de medicamentos, de modo a não permitir negligencias nem faltas de tomas. Com a utilização da plataforma as vidas dos idosos e funcionários de lares vão ficar mais calmas, com menos preocupações, melhorando assim a qualidade de vida destes.
