The full retarded electromagnetic force experienced by swift electrons moving parallel to planar boundaries is revisited, for both metallic and dielectric targets, with special emphasis on the consequences in electron microscopy experiments. The focus is placed on the sign of the transverse force experienced by the electron beam as a function of the impact parameter. For point probes, the force is found to be always attractive. The contribution of the induced magnetic field and the causality requirements of the target dielectric response, given by the Kramers-Kronig (K-K) relations, prove to be crucial issues at small impact parameters. For spatially extended probes, repulsive forces are predicted for close trajectories, in agreement with previous works. The force experienced by the target is also explored, with the finding that in insulators, the momentum associated to Cherenkov radiation (CR) is relevant at large impact parameters.

The surface electronic structure of the narrow-gap seminconductor BiTeI exhibits a large Rashba-splitting which strongly depends on the surface termination. Here we report on a detailed investigation of the surface morphology and electronic properties of cleaved BiTeI single crystals by scanning tunneling microscopy, photoelectron spectroscopy (ARPES, XPS), electron diffraction (SPA-LEED) and density functional theory calculations. When the in-plane bias magnetic field acting on a flat circular magnetic dot is smaller than the saturation field, there are two stable competing magnetization configurations of the dot: the vortex and the quasi-uniform (C-state). We measured microwave absorption properties in an array of non-interacting permalloy dots in the frequency range 1-8 GHz when the in-plane bias magnetic field was varied in the region of the dot magnetization state bi-stability. We found that the microwave absorption properties in the vortex and quasi-uniform stable states are substantially different, so that switching between these states in a fixed bias field can be used for the development of reconfigurable microwave magnetic materials.

Cerium-doped lutetium pyrosilicate crystal, Ce:Lu2Si2O7 (Ce:LPS), was grown by the Czochralski method. The segregation coefficient of Ce3+ ion was studied by the ICP-AES method. X-ray diffraction analysis showed that the structure of Ce:LPS crystal was monoclinic symmetry with space group of C2/m. Perfect cleavage planes (110) and imperfect cleavage planes (001) were observed by optical microscope. The reasons why it is difficult to grow crack-free crystals were studied. After optimized growth parameters, a Ce:LPS crystal with dimension of Phi 25 x 30 mm was grown, which is colorless, high optical quality, cracking-free and no inclusions. The transmittance of Ce:LPS crystal from 380 to 800 nm is over 82% and there is no observable absorption. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

采用中频感应提拉法生长出Ce:Lu:Si2O7(Ce:LPS)晶体.通过x射线粉末衍射分析,晶体结构属单斜晶系的C21m空间群·光学显微镜下可观测到晶体的(110)解理.在室温下测试了Ce:LPS晶体的吸收光谱、激发光谱和发射光谱。结果表明,Ce:LPS晶体的吸收峰只有两个,分别位于302和349nm,且与激发峰的位置一致,归因于Ce^3+的4f^1→5d^1跃迁的特征吸收所致.发射光谱具有Ce^3+典型的双峰特征,经Gaussian多峰值拟合,带状谱是由384和407nm两个发射峰叠加而成,且后者的强度

For the first time, a high optical quality Yb3+-doped lutetium pyrosilicate laser crystal Lu2Si2O7 (LPS) was grown by the Czochralski (Cz) method. The segregation coefficient of ytterbium ion in Yb:LPS crystal detected by the inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometer (TCP-AES) method is equal to 0.847. X-ray powder diffraction result confirms the C2/m phase monoclinic space group of the grown crystal and the peaks corresponding to different phases were indexed. The absorption and fluorescence spectra, as well as fluorescence decay lifetime of Yb3+ ion in LPS have been investigated. The absorption and fluorescence cross-sections of the transitions F-2(7/2) <-> F-2(5/2) of Yb3+ ion in LPS crystal have been determined. The advantages of the Yb:LPS crystal including high crystal quality, quasi-four-level laser operating scheme, high absorption cross-sections (1.33 x 10(-2) cm(2)) and particularly broad emission bandwidth (similar to 62 nm) indicated that the Yb:LPS crystal seemed to be a promising candidate used as compact, efficient thin chip lasers when LD is pumped at 940 and 980 nm due to its low-symmetry monoclinic structure and single crystallographic site. Biomass and metabolic rates (total nitrogen and phosphorus excretion and respiration) were measured at 4 stations, representative of the lagoon environment, during high-water (Oct-Nov), dry (Dec-Jan) and rainy (July) seasons. In low-salinity waters (4o/oo) Acartia clausi is almost the only species, whereas a marine and diversified fauna is brought in from the ocean during the dry season. O/NT and O/PT atomic ratios between respiration (O) and total nitrogen (NT) and phosphorus (PT) excretions are high (15.1 and 111, respectively) and show a marked hydrocarbon feeding of zooplankton. Production was assessed from excretion via the net growth efficiency coefficient, K2 , calculated from N/P ratios for particles (a1), zooplankton excretion (a2) and constitution (a3). Daily productivity indices (i.e. daily production/biomass ratio) are high and equivalent to 1.2-3.8 day turn-over times. These high values may be ascribed to high temperatures (26.5-30 C) and phytoplankton richness (surface chlorophyll 'a' concentrations are always greater than 4 mg/m-3). Finally, the paper deals with trophic relationships between phyto- and zooplankton (ingestion /primary production ratio and transfer coefficient) and the question of relationships between zooplankton and predators.

We show that dynamics in the spin-orbit coupling field simulate the von Neumann measurement of a particle spin. We demonstrate how the measurement influences the spin and coordinate evolution of a particle by comparing two examples of such a procedure. The first example is a simultaneous measurement of spin components, sigma(x) and sigma(y), corresponding to non-commuting operators, which cannot be accurately obtained together at a given time instant due to the Heisenberg uncertainty ratio. By mapping spin dynamics onto a spatial walk, such a procedure determines measurement-time averages of sigma(x) and sigma(y), which can already be precisely evaluated in a single short-time measurement. The other, qualitatively different, example is the spin of a one-dimensional particle in a magnetic field. Here, the measurement outcome depends on the angle between the spin-orbit coupling and magnetic fields. These results can be applied to studies of spin-orbit coupled cold atoms and electrons in solids.

Several pseudo-binary RxR2-x'Fe-17 alloys (with R = Y, Ce, Pr, Gd and Dy) were synthesized with rhombohedral Th2Zn17-type crystal structure determined from x-ray and neutron powder diffraction. The choice of compositions was done with the aim of tuning the Curie temperature (T-C) in the 270 +/- 20 K temperature range, in order to obtain the maximum magneto-caloric effect around room temperature. The investigated compounds exhibit broad isothermal magnetic entropy changes, Delta S-M(T), with moderate values of the refrigerant capacity, even though the values of Delta S-M(Peak) are relatively low compared with those of the R2Fe17 compounds with R = Pr or Nd. The reduction on the Delta S-M(Peak) is explained in terms of the diminution in the saturation magnetization value. Furthermore, the Delta S-M(T) curves exhibit a similar caret-like behavior, suggesting that the magneto-caloric effect is mainly governed by the Fe-sublattice. A single master curve for Delta S-M/Delta S-M(Peak)(T) under different values of the magnetic field change are obtained for each compound by rescaling of the temperature axis.

O Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) é um dos principais detectores instalados no LHC que possibilita o estudo de diferentes aspectos da Física, indo do Modelo Padrão à matéria escura. Esse detector de propósito geral, foi construído para ser capaz de medir múons com uma grande precisão e todos os seus subdetectores foram construídos com uma alta granularidade, tornando possível identificar e caracterizar as propriedades cinemáticas das partículas finais da colisão. O algoritmo de reconstrução de eventos inclui a identificação de jatos, ou seja, é possível identificar a assinatura da produção de pártons na colisão e a medida de seções de choque da produção de muitos jatos é um dos métodos para se explorar as contribuições da Cromodinâmica Quântica (Quantum Chromodynamics - QCD) perturbativa, permitindo avaliar as previsões implementadas nas simulações de eventos. Tendo em vista a caracterização de processos relacionados com a QCD em colisões de próton-próton a uma energia do centro de massa de 7 TeV, é apresentada a medida da seção de choque da produção inclusiva de multijatos no CMS. Para realizar essa medida foram utilizados dados reais coletados em 2010, onde não se apresentava muitas colisões por cruzamento de pacote, com uma luminosidade integrada de L = 2,869 pb-1 e utilizando jatos que estão em quase todo o espaço de fase acessível em pseudorapidez |n|≤ 4,8 e momentum transverso pT ≥ 30 GeV/ c2. Desse resultado foram removidos os efeitos de detecção comparado com predições simuladas.

Poucos organismos são aptos a suportar o alto estresse provocado pelas variações de temperatura e alta dessecação na faixa superior da região entremarés de costões rochosos, sendo um deles o cirripédio Chthamalus. Apesar da sua resistência, vivem constantemente próximos ao seu limite de tolerância fisiológica, o que pode influenciar suas populações. O objetivo deste estudo foi caracterizar as flutuações das populações de Chthamalus spp. na faixa superior da região entremarés em quatro costões rochosos na Baía da Ilha Grande entre 2002 e 2012, relacionando estas variações com os fatores ambientais temperatura do ar, temperatura superficial marinha e precipitação, verificando o potencial destes organismos como indicadores de variações climáticas. Para isso foram investigadas a temperatura do ar e precipitação a partir de dados da estação meteorológica de Angra dos Reis e temperatura da superfície do mar a partir de imagens de satélite (MODIS/AQUA), além das porcentagens de cobertura de Chthamalus spp. a partir de amostragens sazonais. Em geral o estudo indica que as populações foram influenciadas pelas variáveis biológicas recrutamento e competição intraespecífica. Foram verificadas grandes diferenças entre as populações nos costões rochosos estudados. A estação C1, apresentou altas coberturas de cirripédios jovens e adultos ao longo de praticamente todo o período de estudo. Na estação C2 ocorreram as maiores variações, enquanto nas estações C3 e C4 ocorreram coberturas menores e variações menos proeminentes. Estas diferenças provavelmente estiveram ligadas às características físicas de cada costão rochoso. Os anos de 2003 e 2010 foram caracterizados como de altas temperaturas (temperaturas do mar e do ar) quando comparados com os demais anos de estudo. Estes anos foram ainda caracterizados pela ocorrência do fenômeno El Niño, com altas anomalias térmicas, o que indica que este fenômeno climático influenciou as temperaturas da região. Nestes mesmos anos as coberturas de Chthamalus spp. foram relativamente baixas, o que indica que o estresse térmico afetou as populações deste cirripédio. Pode-se inferir através deste estudo que as populações de Chthamalus spp. sofrem influência direta dos fatores ambientais investigados, sendo com isso um potencial indicador de mudanças climáticas.

At this time, four additional species, unreported by Wilson [1932], can be added to the list of those species to be found within the limits of the bay. These are Acartia tonsa Dana, Cyclops vernalis Fischer, Diaptomus spatulocrenatus Pearse, and Paracalanus crassirostris Dahl var. nudus nov. The specimens from which identifications were made were collected by means of Clarke-Bumpus nets, in use on the motor ship "Mahatru."

本文应用RAPD分标记技术对我国重要的油料作物“杂油59”杂种种子的Fl代杂种的纯度进了技术鉴定,并完善了这一技术,摸索出这一适合于目前生产应用的实用方法,填补了这一技术在油菜作物应用上的空白。用RFLP技术对我国重要的雄性不育材料“陕2A”细胞质进行了分子水平的鉴定,为证明“陕2A”是一类新型的雄性不育材料提供了重要的实验证据。 对甘蓝型油菜采用DNA快速提取法、酚仿法和CTAB法应用于不同的分子标记分析,实验结果显示: CTAB法适用于样品量大,纯度要术高的RFLP技术,酚仿法适用于引物筛选、DNA模板用量大的PCR反应,而快速提取法特别适合于生产上对种子纯度检测,是生产上推广前景很好的实用技术。 对甘蓝型油菜RAPD技术应用当中PCR体系的建立进行了探讨。实验结果显示:热启动对PCR结果的影响至关重要。而Mg++浓度、dNTP浓度、模板浓度、Tag酶用量对反应结果有不同程度的影响。经过反复实验:当PCR各组分按Mg++,2mM;dNTP,200uM;模板浓度,50ng - lOOng时,PCR的结果最好。PCR反应条件经反复实验后确定为:第一个循环:(热启动)94℃,Imin20sec.OoC 2min循环一次;第二个循环:(解链)94℃ 50sec,(退火)40℃ Imin30sec;(延伸)72℃lmin;循环40次。第三个循环:72℃lOmin,循环1次。反应总体积为20ul时最为适用。 用40个lOmer的RAPD随机引物对“杂油59”的2个亲本“垦C8”和“陕3A” 进行RAPD分析,共出现290条带,分布于3530-220bp之间。引物opA-06、opK-03、opK-13、opj-12出现阳性扩增。经重复实验后确定: opK-03的PCR结果重复性最好,该引物序列为:CCAGCTTAGG。用它对两个亲本进行RAPD分析,PCR结果共出现9条带,其中510bp、260bp为二条特征带。在Fl代中这两条特征带重现性很好。用50个商品用种萌发的F1单株进行验证,检测结果为3个个体没有出现510bp的特征带,4个个体没有出现260bp的特征带,有5个个体出现了其它带,纯度为78%,与生产用种的纯度相符。 通过对“杂优59”不同生育时期及不同取样部位作酯酶同工酶电泳方法与RAPD方法相比较,结果显示:RAPD方法可以弥补同工酶方法的缺限。由于它是基于基因水平的分析技术,可以不受环境条件、发育时期、取材部位等客观条件的限制,并具有取样量小、易操作、费用低、灵敏度高、可以检测出亲缘关系相当近的种闾或种内的材料,具有独到的优点。是值得今后在生产上推广的新技术。 用6个雄性不育材料线粒体的特异探针:ALXR 18(线粒体ATPaseα亚基);COB 640(脱辅基细胞色素-b);COX -I(细胞色素氧化酶亚基-I);COX -Ⅱ(细胞色素氧化酶亚基-II;PDC - 12(胡萝卜线粒体随机片断);C2(玉米线粒随机片断),对“陕2A”,Hybrides Polima,Ogura NSL 94/96, Ogura MLCH036, Ogura NSL, Polima, Fu27,Fu38, Anand等9个材料进行RFLP分析,结果显示:用限制性内切酶EcoR I消化后的DNA与探针COB 640杂交,“陕2A”材料在4.5 kb处缺失,与ALXR 18探针杂交,在4.4 kb、4.2 kb处也明显缺失,证明“陕2A”显然不同与其它不育材料。用ALXR l8为探针,与用内切酶Nc01的酶切片断作Sourthern杂交,在RFLP谱带上6.1 kb、2.4 kb、2.5 kb处明显缺带,进一步为“陕2A”是一种新型的甘蓝型油莱雄性不育系提供了证据。

本论文由三部分内容组成,一、药用青蒿的遗传转化,即根癌农杆菌和发 根农杆菌介导的转化系统的建立及其影响参数的研究。二、青蒿素生物合成的 分子调控。三、倍半萜生物合成相关基因的克隆。 一、药用青蒿的遗传转化。建立了Ri质粒介导和Ti质粒介导的两种转基因系统, 其中Ri质粒介导青蒿转基因系统的建立是国际上首次报道;以GFP基因为报 告基因,首次获得高效表达的青蒿转绿色荧光蛋白基因的丛生芽,并对GFP基 因的表达进行了组织和细胞水平的定位。此外,对影响两种转基因系统的主要 参数进行了较为详细的研究。上述研究为青蒿素生物合成的分子调控奠定了坚 实的基础。 二、青蒿素生物合成的分子调控。为探索提高青蒿植株或组织和器官中的青蒿 素含量,首次以棉花中克隆的杜松烯合成酶和法呢基焦磷酸合成酶的 cDNA 为 目的基因导入青蒿,对青蒿中青蒿素的生物合成进行了分子调控研究的尝试。 通过已建立的两种转基因系统,将从棉花中克隆的杜松烯合成酶和法呢基焦磷 酸合成酶的 cDNA 导入青蒿,获得转基因发根和转基因植株。结果表明,外源 基因的表达能够影响青蒿素的生物合成,其中法呢基焦磷酸合成酶基因的过量 表达能够促进青蒿素的生物合成,提高转基因发根和植株中的青蒿素的含量。 转基因发根F-26系中青蒿素含量最高达3.01 mg/g.DW,与对照相比青蒿素含量 提高3~4倍;转基因植株的青蒿素含量最高达10.08 mg/g.DW,与对照相比, 转基因植株的青蒿素产物提高2~3倍。此外,研究还表明,在转基因的发根C -37株系中,外源杜松烯合成酶基因的导入和表达可能相应地促进青蒿转基因 发根自身的法昵基焦磷酸基因的表达。 三、倍半萜生物合成相关基因的克隆。采用 RT-PCR 技术,从马铃薯 (Solanum tuberosum L.) 幼叶中克隆了 HMGRII 亚基因家族的一个新的成员 HMGR-c2(GenBank accession No.AF 096838Southem);杂交分析表明,该基因至少以 两个拷贝以上形式存在于马铃薯基因组中;RT-PCR分析表明,HMGR -c2的 表达在幼苗期无组织特异性,广泛地存在于根、茎、叶等组织中。以青蒿001 株系的苗期叶片为材料,构建了青蒿苗期的λgtll cDNA文库,以PCR筛库方 法从青蒿中克隆一个法呢基焦磷酸合成酶cDNA (Artfps2 GenBank accession No. AF136602)和一个HMGR cDNA(GenBank accession No.AF142473);以青蒿 025株系的苗期叶片为材料,构建了青蒿苗期部分质粒文库以 PCR 筛库方法从 青蒿中克隆一个法昵基焦磷酸合成酶 cDNA (Artfpsl GenBank accession No.AF112881);此外,还从青蒿中克隆了倍半萜合成酶的 cDNA 片段(GenBank accession No.AF156854)。其中青蒿倍半萜合成酶基因的克隆是目前国际上本研 究领域最受关注的焦点和难点之一。至此,本研究已将与青蒿素生物合成相关 的三个重要的关键酶基因基本克隆,这无疑将加速青蒿素生物合成的基础和应 用研究的进程。

Distribution, abundance, and several population features were studied in Ensenada de La Vela (Venezuela) between 1993 and 1998 as a first step in the assessment of local fisheries of swimming crabs. Arenaeus cribrarius was the most abundant species at the marine foreshore. Callinectes danae prevailed at the estuarine location. Callinectes bocourti was the most abundant species at the offshore. Abundances of A. cribrarius and C. danae fluctuated widely and randomly. Ovigerous females were almost absent. Adults of several species were smaller than previously reported. This study suggests that fisheries based on these swimming crabs probably will be restricted to an artisanal level because abundances appear too low to support industrial exploitation.
