Carmel River Lagoon Enhancement Project: Water Quality and Aquatic Wildlife Monitoring, 2005-6

In summer and fall 2004, the California Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) initiated the Carmel River Lagoon Enhancement Project. The project involved excavation of a dry remnant Arm of the lagoon and adjacent disused farmland to form a significant new lagoon volume. The intention was to provide habitat, in particular, for two Federally threatened species: the California Red-Legged Frog, and the Steelhead Trout (South Central-Coastal California Evolutionary Significant Unit). DPR contracted with the Foundation of California State University Monterey Bay (Central Coast Watershed Studies Team, Watershed Institute) to monitor water quality and aquatic invertebrates in association with the enhancement, and to attempt to monitor steelhead using novel video techniques. The monitoring objective was to assess whether the enhancement was successful in providing habitat with good water quality, adequate invertebrate food for steelhead, and ultimately the presence of steelhead. [ES] El objetivo de este trabajo es establecer en qué medida los índices de riesgo país más utilizados por la comunidad económica y financiera internacional, en concreto, el índice de Euromoney y el ICRG, recogen las variables relevantes en el desencadenamiento de las crisis monetarias y financieras externas, como un aspecto básico en la evaluación de su capacidad para medir adecuadamente el riesgo de los diferentes países.

A retórica dos editoriais : estratégia discursiva dos jornais Folha de S. Paulo, O Estado de S. Paulo e da revista Veja na cobertura do escândalo “mensalão”

A retórica, segundo Aristóteles, pode ser entendida como a faculdade de persuadir. Um elemento importante, e muitas vezes relevado pela pesquisa, diz respeito à aplicação da retórica aristotélica pelos meios de comunicação. Nesse processo, a imprensa intervém, refaz e estabelece as relações entre quem fala (orador), a mensagem e quem ouve (público ou auditório) e, assim, constrói um discurso político. A presente pesquisa analisa a existência de um discurso político a partir da estratégia discursiva dos editoriais veiculados em dois jornais diários de amplitude nacional, O Estado de S. Paulo e a Folha de S. Paulo e, a revista semanal Veja acerca do escândalo de corrupção conhecido por “mensalão”. Para tanto, toma por base o referencial teórico-metodológico da Análise do Discurso de Fairclough (2001), para observar a utilização da estratégia argumentativa da “Nova Retórica”, de Perelman & Olbrechts-Tyteca (1958) na construção do discurso político de acordo com a tipologia de Chilton & Schäfnner (2000). O período estabelecido compreende os meses de junho, julho e agosto de 2005, momento do ápice do escândalo. Os resultados revelam, por meio da utilização de argumentos da Nova Retórica, um propósito comunicativo, ou seja, um discurso político, orientado para persuadir, convencer e criar opinião favorável à tese sustentada pelos órgãos de imprensa que compõem esta pesquisa. Verificou-se assim que, a partir de uma “realidade”, os órgãos legitimam os próprios meios de comunicação e a oposição, ao mesmo tempo em que deslegitimam o Congresso Nacional, o Partido dos Trabalhadores e o Poder Executivo, na figura do Presidente da República.

中国科学院力学研究所2005年科技工作回顾

2005年，力学所经历了几件大事：一是完成了中国科学院知识创新工程试点二期的总结和创新三期筹划，并顺利通过了现场评估，为进入2006年开始的创新三期奠定了坚实基础；二是成功举办丁“庆祝力学研究所建所50周年暨钱学森回国50周年大会”；二是在国家和（部门）重点实验室的评估中，我所非线性力学国家重点实验室和高温气体动力学重点实验室被评为数理科学“良好类”实验室．
