Reflexe, Radio SRF2Kultur Interview, Dagmar Walser, 31. Oktober 2014 Ausgangslage: Es häufen sich derzeit die Umbauten, die notwendigen Renovationen von Theaterhäusern, die in die Jahre gekommen sind. Das Theater Solothurn wird im Januar nach einem längeren Umbau fertig, in Bern endet die Spielzeit nächsten Frühling früher wegen der Renovationen, in Baden am Kurtheater wurde der längst notwendige Umbau wieder einmal verschoben Wie hängen Architektur und Ästhetik zusammen? Wie spielt man in einem historischen Ambiente zeitgenössische Stoffe? Weshalb werden Volksabstimmungen für den Erhalt der Theater jeweils hoch angenommen, und klagen die Theater doch über Publikumsschwund? Fragen, die ich dem Professor für Theaterwissenschaft Andreas Kotte in Bern stellen will.

Interview mit der Autorin und Regisseurin Sabine Harbeke, geführt von Mona De Weerdt. In Zentrum standen Fragen zur Personalunion von Autorin und Regisseurin (Autorenregie), zu Harbekes Arbeitsweisen bzw. zu ihrem Vorgehen beim Schreiben und Inszenieren. Mona De Weerdt unterhielt sich mit Sabine Harbeke u.a. über ihre beiden neueren Inszenierung "nahkampf" (UA 2014 Luzerner Theater) und zu "eine nacht lang familie" (UA 2015 Theater Bonn).

Background Workflow interruptions during surgery may cause a threat to patient's safety. Workflow interruptions were tested to predict failure in action regulation that in turn predicts near-accidents in surgery and related health care. Methods One-hundred-and-thirty-three theater nurses and physicians from eight Swiss hospitals participated in a cross-sectional questionnaire survey. The study participation rate was 43%. Results Structural equation modeling confirmed an indirect path from workflow interruptions through cognitive failure in action regulation on near-accidents (p < 0.05). The indirect path was stronger for workflow interruptions by malfunctions and task organizational blockages compared with workflow interruptions that were caused by persons. The indirect path remained meaningful when individual differences in conscientiousness and compliance with safety regulations were controlled. Conclusion Task interruptions caused by malfunction and organizational constraints are likely to trigger errors in surgery. Work redesign is recommended to reduce workflow interruptions by malfunction and regulatory constraints.

OBJECTIVES Sensorineural hearing loss from sound overexposure has a considerable prevalence. Identification of sound hazards is crucial, as prevention, due to a lack of definitive therapies, is the sole alternative to hearing aids. One subjectively loud, yet little studied, potential sound hazard is movie theaters. This study uses smart phones to evaluate their applicability as a widely available, validated sound pressure level (SPL) meter. Therefore, this study measures sound levels in movie theaters to determine whether sound levels exceed safe occupational noise exposure limits and whether sound levels in movie theaters differ as a function of movie, movie theater, presentation time, and seat location within the theater. DESIGN Six smart phones with an SPL meter software application were calibrated with a precision SPL meter and validated as an SPL meter. Additionally, three different smart phone generations were measured in comparison to an integrating SPL meter. Two different movies, an action movie and a children's movie, were measured six times each in 10 different venues (n = 117). To maximize representativeness, movies were selected focusing on large release productions with probable high attendance. Movie theaters were selected in the San Francisco, CA, area based on whether they screened both chosen movies and to represent the largest variety of theater proprietors. Measurements were analyzed in regard to differences between theaters, location within the theater, movie, as well as presentation time and day as indirect indicator of film attendance. RESULTS The smart phone measurements demonstrated high accuracy and reliability. Overall, sound levels in movie theaters do not exceed safe exposure limits by occupational standards. Sound levels vary significantly across theaters and demonstrated statistically significant higher sound levels and exposures in the action movie compared to the children's movie. Sound levels decrease with distance from the screen. However, no influence on time of day or day of the week as indirect indicator of film attendance could be found. CONCLUSIONS Calibrated smart phones with an appropriate software application as used in this study can be utilized as a validated SPL meter. Because of the wide availability, smart phones in combination with the software application can provide high quantity recreational sound exposure measurements, which can facilitate the identification of potential noise hazards. Sound levels in movie theaters decrease with distance to the screen, but do not exceed safe occupational noise exposure limits. Additionally, there are significant differences in sound levels across movie theaters and movies, but not in presentation time.

"Arbeitsweisen im Gegenwartstheater", Band 1 der neuen theaterwissenschaftlichen Reihe, ist im April 2015 im Berliner Alexander Verlag erschienen. Die regelmäßig erscheinenden Ausgaben sind als Arbeitsbücher zu den "itw : im dialog"-Symposien des Instituts für Theaterwissenschaft der Universität Bern konzipiert. Die Beiträge des ersten Bandes reflektieren die komplexen und divergenten Erscheinungsformen zeitgenössischen Theaters und nähern sich aus unterschiedlichen Perspektiven der Frage nach den Zusammenhängen von Arbeitsweisen und Ästhetiken: z. B. Kollektivität und Reflexivität im Gegenwartstheater, Formen und Mobilität internationalisierten Theaters, Allianzen zwischen Freier Szene und Stadttheater sowie Autorenregie.
