La presente tesis doctoral se justifica por la necesidad de analizar y estudiar los factores internos determinantes del éxito para la supervivencia y consolidación de las Nuevas Empresas de Base Tecnológica en los Parques Científicos y Tecnológicos de Andalucía. Dicho estudio se apoya en la Teoría de Recursos y Capacidades como punto de partida del análisis a nivel de empresa. Se aporta un modelo explicativo del éxito de las NEBT, como resultado del análisis de la literatura. Así como una definición de NEBT dado la falta de consenso al respecto. Las conclusiones alcanzadas son derivadas del estudio de la literatura, del análisis descriptivo y empírico.

Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) have an extremely important social role, they are responsible for the place where they work and to form citizens who contribute to a fair and cooperative society. Universities can engage with sustainable development in planning, management, education, research, operations, community services, procurement of materials, transportation and infrastructure; this research seeks to analyze the sustainability practices in service operations in the Higher Education Institutions of the Federal Network of Professional, Scientific and Technological Education in Brazil through the development and application of a model called the Sustainability Assessment for Higher Technological Education (SAHTE). To achieve the proposed goal, a systematic survey of the scientific literature on sustainability assessment models in higher education institutions was conducted, making it possible to identify the characteristics and features of existing models. The model was applied through multiple case studies. The proposal compares the sustainability performance of service operations among individual institutions using a common methodology. It presents five areas to be evaluated in the HEI: Governance and Policies, People, Food, Water and Energy, and Waste and Environment, with a total of 134 questions. The need for greater support from the senior management of institutions to formulate and implement policies on sustainable development was identified when the lack of policies on sustainability in service operations was found; initiatives tend to be isolated. The participation of students and teachers in studies on the daily operations of the campus can be expanded and more widespread. The model seeks to evaluate sustainable practices in the service operations of the Brazilian Federal Network of Professional, Scientific and Technological Education; studies related to the evaluation of teaching sustainability are absent and the applicability of the model in private institutions and other countries is needed. The results obtained with the application of the SAHTE model are useful for the preparation and development of policies on sustainable development, especially in the service operations of the surveyed HEI. The results can sensitize staff and students, who can reflect on their roles in the HEI, as well as the community and suppliers.

With the need of the companies in becoming more competitive within the market, it arises an incessant search for selective human potential, with a high level of capacity and low rotativity, which motivation results in production raise, quality optimization and waste reduction. This scenario requires a strategy development which advantages the Human Resources Quality Management. This way, the model of the Human System Audit (HSA), developed by the Spanish researchers Ouijano and Navarro, presents itself as an important tool to diagnosis and evaluation, contemplating the environment where the organization is inserted, its strategies, its organizational design, its processes and its organizational effectiveness. In this sense, the present study has identified the existent relation between the professional satisfaction and the Organizational Culture, based in the model HSA. The research has been a quantitative-descriptive one and has had as population the technical-administrative workers from the Federal Center of Technical Education of Rio Grande do Norte (CEFET RN). The data collection has occurred during May, 2008, by means of the application of a questionnaire in the HSA model. The sample was composed by 167 subjects, distributed among the Five units of the institution. It was used the factorial analysis, with the extraction method of main components and orthogonal rotation varimax, in order to extract the dimensions of the satisfaction and of the organizational culture and the calculation of Cronbach s Alpha coefficient, to evaluate the reliability of these dimensions. The factorial analysis of the satisfaction indicators has identified four factors,, all of them showing significance: gratefulness and relationship , self-realization , stability and security and physical conditions and social benefits . The result of the factorial analysis with the indicators of the organizational culture has extracted four factors and among them, three of them have obtained significance: Personal Satisfaction Style , Competitive-Denial-Power Style and the Conventional-Dependent Style . After identifying the dimensions of the satisfaction and culture found at CEFET-RN, it has been notice the existence or not of relation among them, through the application of Pearson s coefficient. It has been verified that all of the dimensions of the Professional satisfaction are correlated with some dimension of the organizational culture, having in outstand position, with higher intensity, the relation between the culture style of Personal Satisfaction and the satisfaction factor referring to the self-realization

Each two years the amount of available information in the world double. This is the Information Age, where the success depends on what one knows, not on what one has. A new economy appears with the capacity to generate, to store, to process and to apply effectively the knowledge, based on information, determining the companies productivity and competitiveness.The objective of this work is to understand the information management model of a technological research institute - CTGÁS (Gas Technology Center). The research has been done focused on the 5 main processes and the 15 support processes of the organization value chain , aiming to understand the information management in the organization based on Davenport´s Information Management model (1998). Therefore, it was necessary to identify how the necessary information for the organizational processes accomplishment are determined, obtained, distributed and used by the organization. The research can be classified as descriptive, regarding to its aims, and as a case study, related to the research ways. Interviews with the managers of the organization value chain processes have been carried through, with the objective to identify how they perceive the Information Management process that circulates in the organizational processes. Complementarily, a documentary research has been carried through, associated to the direct observation and procedures and actions follow up, involving the Information Management. The data treatment and analysis have been done from the authors theoretical support and from the managers interviews analysis, documents and processes observed by the researcher in the organization. It was noticed that the organization has raised its level of information needs that are not difficult to be determined and are satisfactorily obtained and distributed, although the majority of them are not structuralized, automatized or even classified regarding to its confidence. These peaces of information have good quality and are important, however they reflect a medium dependence on external and informal information, besides being used only in its great majority for people to know what and how to do something

Nos encontramos a escasos 8 años del siglo XXI y la información que cobra día a día más auge y más importancia, el acelerado devenir tecnológico y los descubrimientos científicos, hacen que el bibliotecario sea un transmisor de innovación y comunicación que se desenvuelva en un mundo competitivo, en donde debe ser agresivo, dinámico y capaz de adoptar todo ese cúmulo tecnológico y científico si quiere sobrevivir en el futuro como profesional.Si retrocedemos cinco años, nos damos cuenta que la Bibliotecología es una de las disciplinas que más ha evolucionado con respecto a términos relacionados con gestión automatizada de información. Palabras como scanners, videodisco, reconocimiento de caracteres ópticos, CD-ROM, CD-I (Disco compacto interactivo), etc., forman parte del vocabulario bibliotecológico que ha sido incorporado por los profesionales quienes se desenvuelven en el complicado mundo de la información.

Esta dissertação procura analisar o fenómeno da revolução tecnológica no séc. XXI, e as suas vulnerabilidades e potencialidades. Em particular os desafios internacionais associados à crescente utilização de armamento autónomo pelos atores internacionais, tomando como caso de estudo o emprego, por parte dos Estados Unidos da América, de UAS, no combate ao terrorismo no Paquistão. Para isso, numa primeira fase analisou-se a evolução do sistema internacional, da estratégia militar e do poder aéreo, em articulação com a revolução tecnológica, particularizada nos UAS, contextualizando e enquadrando o seu aparecimento e desenvolvimento. Numa segunda fase, buscou-se a caracterização desta tipologia de armamento, analisando-se as principais questões legais e éticas aplicáveis, para aferir as suas vulnerabilidades e potencialidades. Na fase seguinte, procurou refletir-se sobre a relação desta tecnologia com o sistema internacional, com o objetivo de serem tecidas algumas considerações sobre a forma como a sua existência, comercialização e utilização poderá influenciar as relações entre atores internacionais, estatais e não estatais. Numa quarta e última fase, efetuou-se um estudo de caso, para analisar, em termos concretos, a utilização de UAS num cenário real – explorando as causas e consequências resultantes da sua utilização, os resultados obtidos e as tendências futuras – para, deste modo, melhor poder percecionar as suas potencialidades e vulnerabilidades. Com esta investigação chegou-se à conclusão que o percurso evolutivo dos UAS apresenta bastantes semelhanças com o da aviação tripulada. Para além disso constatou-se que, por se constituir numa tecnologia tão disruptiva, a utilização de UAS apresenta desafios éticos e legais, ainda que os mesmos não se apresentem, a priori, como ilegais ou antiéticos. Por fim, chegou-se à conclusão que, pelas suas características, e com o aumentar da sua proliferação, os UAS podem tornar-se num fator potenciador de conflitos, ainda que possam ter um efeito positivo na diminuição da sua dimensão e intensidade.

The transformations economical, cultural and social that happen in world ambit they are associated to the intense progress and expansion of new technologies, forcing governments, people, companies and nations to the introduction of new patterns of behavior, forcing, in that way, to the continuous renewal of products and technological processes to maintain the competitiveness, so much among nations, as in the managerial world. In that matter, the technological innovation is recognized as basic factor of maintainable economical competitiveness, being the responsible for the breaking and/or improvement of the techniques and production processes, what presupposes the systematization varied institutional arrangements that they involve firms, interaction nets among companies, government agencies, universities, research institutes, laboratories of companies and scientists and engineers activities. Those arrangements, to the if they articulate with the educational system, with the industrial and managerial section and, also, with the financial institutions, they take the form that Freeman (1987) it coined of national system of innovation, promoted through public politics of CT&I, which seek to induce and to support innovative initiatives in the companies, as well as to establish demands and to prioritize vocations and regional potentialities. In that context of government support to the technological innovation interferes this study, that it looked for to know the reasons of the fragility innovative in the pharmaceutical industry of State of Pará in Brazil, pointed for PINTEC (2005), starting from the point of view of the businessmen of that section. For such, the qualitative approach was used - with interviews directing semi and the technique of the content analysis. The results of the research pointed that the fragilities innovative of the section links to the ignorance of the government support to the technological innovation on the part of the businessmen of the pharmaceutical industry of State of Pará in Brazil

A utilização da pólvora negra em Portugal está documentada desde o reinado de D. Fernando, conhecendo-se referências a polvoristas a partir de meados do século XV. De entre as primitivas oficinas da pólvora referenciadas no século XVI, destaca-se a de Barcarena. Com a expansão ultramarina, aumentou a importância desta unidade, o que não obstou a que novas fábricas se fossem instalando em estabelecimentos ultramarinos portugueses, principalmente na índia e no Brasil. Apresenta-se a evolução tecnológica da Fábrica da Pólvora de Barcarena, com especial realce para a monumental fábrica construída por António Cremer (1729) e para as inovações nela introduzidas por Bartolomeu da Costa, nos finais do século XVIII. Referem-se também as posteriores ampliações recebidas pela Fábrica e a utilização de novas formas de energia, a do vapor de água e a energia eléctrica, esta produzida em duas centrais Diesel-eléctricas e numa central hidroeléctrica, instaladas entre 1924 e 1929. Em 1988 encerrou a Fábrica e em 1998 foi criado o Museu da Pólvora Negra de Barcarena, cuja concepção e constituição são sumariamente apresentadas.

En esta ponencia se proponen algunas ideas para la investigación del impacto, en la vida cotidiana, de la innovación tecnológica y cómo ésta lleva a las personas a una resignificación de la realidad. Se presentan seis dimensiones que son afectadas directa o indirectamente por esta innovación, a saber: la dimensión de las labores domésticas, la laboral, la de la educación formal, el cambio cultural, la ideológica y el proceso de inclusión/ exclusión.
