La docència és una de les principals funcions de la universitat. Se situa just al costat de la recerca, amb la qual forma un conjunt simbiòtic que cal entendre com a tal en el desenvolupament de l’una i de l’altra. A la Universitat de Girona s’entén que l’exercici de la docència és responsabilitat del professorat, que, amb la seva expertesa i la seva professionalitat, busca en tot moment la millor manera d’aconseguir bons aprenentatges per als estudiants. Tot i això, la UdG, especialment arran de la creació de l’espai europeu d’educació superior, s’ha dotat d’un conjunt de definicions, procediments i eines de suport per al personal docent que, a més de facilitar la docència, els proporciona un segell propi, sempre amb el respecte a la iniciativa docent del professorat. Aquest quadern és la presentació d’aquestes definicions, procediments i eines, alhora que vol ser una breu guia de la UdG per al professorat que hi entra a treballar de bell nou

Effective action for QED with fermion self-interaction in D=2 and D=3 dimensions

In this work we discuss the effect of the quartic fermion self-interaction of Thirring type in QED in D=2 and D=3 dimensions. This is done through the computation of the effective action up to quadratic terms in the photon field. We analyze the corresponding nonlocal photon propagators nonperturbatively in k/m, where k is the photon momentum and m the fermion mass. The poles of the propagators were determined numerically by using the MATHEMATICA software. In D=2 there is always a massless pole whereas for strong enough Thirring coupling a massive pole may appear. For D=3 there are three regions in parameter space. We may have one or two massive poles or even no pole at all. The interquark static potential is computed analytically in D=2. We notice that the Thirring interaction contributes with a screening term to the confining linear potential of massive two-dimensional QED (QED(2)). In D=3 the static potential must be calculated numerically. The screening nature of the massive QED(3) prevails at any distance, indicating that this is a universal feature of D=3 electromagnetic interaction. Our results become exact for an infinite number of fermion flavors.

Measurement of three-jet differential cross sections d sigma(3jet)/dM(3jet) in p(p)over-bar collisions at root s=1.96 TeV

Search for squarks and gluinos in events with jets and missing transverse energy using 2.1 fb(-1) of p(p)over-bar collision data at root s=1.96 TeV - D phi Collaboration

A data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.1 fb(-1) collected by the D phi detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider was analyzed to search for squarks and gluinos produced in p (p) over bar collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. No evidence for the production of such particles was observed in topologies involving jets and missing transverse energy, and 95% C.L. lower limits of 379 GeV and 308 GeV were set on the squark and gluino masses, respectively, within the framework of minimal supergravity with tan beta = 3, A(0) = 0, and mu < 0. The corresponding previous limits are improved by 54 GeV and 67 GeV. (c) 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Evidence for the Decay B-s(0)->(DsDs(*))-D-(*) and a Measurement of Delta Gamma(CP)(s)/Gamma(s)

We search for the semi-inclusive process B-s(0)->(DsDs(*))-D-(*) using 2.8 fb(-1) of pp collisions at s=1.96 TeV recorded by the D0 detector operating at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We observe 26.6 +/- 8.4 signal events with a significance above background of 3.2 standard deviations yielding a branching ratio of B(B-s(0)->(DsDs(*))-D-(*))=0.035 +/- 0.010(stat.)+/- 0.011(syst.). Under certain theoretical assumptions, these double-charm final states saturate CP-even eigenstates in the B-s(0) decays resulting in a width difference of Delta Gamma(CP)(s)/Gamma(s)=0.072 +/- 0.021(stat.)+/- 0.022(syst.).

Approximate expression for the energy of a D-dimensional anharmonic oscillator

An approximate expression is constructed for the energy of an anharmonic potential with centrifugal barrier. In order to obtain such an analytical expression, the quasi-exact solvability is used and then a fitting of these exact solutions is done.
