O judiciário brasileiro ante o desafio do trabalho escravo contemporâneo

Este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar como o sistema judiciário brasileiro age no julgamento dos empregadores que ainda hoje exploram o trabalho escravo em suas propriedades rurais, partindo-se da hipótese de que, no Brasil, as profundas desigualdades sociais existentes em nossa sociedade também estão presentes no momento em que a Justiça é chamada a dirimir os conflitos sociais. Para alcançar os objetivos delimitados para a pesquisa, realizou-se um levantamento bibliográfico a fim de examinar conceitos e categorias relacionadas com o trabalho escravo contemporâneo, principalmente no tocante ao trâmite dos processos no Judiciário. Para reforçar as constatações verificadas no campo teórico, procedeu-se a um levantamento documental na Justiça Federal do município de Marabá, no Estado do Pará.

Montaigne, Lying and Early Modern Self-Fashioning: A Discursive Dialogue with Lope's El perro del hortelano on the Page and on Stage

A shared code of connection arguably exists between two plays by Lope de VegaEl mayordomo de la duquesa de Amalfi and El perro del hortelanoand the work of Michel de Montaigne. Nevertheless, one cannot but ask: how it can be that in two works produced so close in time, the same situation is resolved so differently? Montaigne can be said to provide an answer in his Essays, explaining that a similar situation can produce wholly different results: how in the first, one is saved', and in the second, one is destroyed. One might imagine, too, that Belflor's countess and her ennobled secretary, who together sustain a lie in a society that lived by the lie, would have been likewise consoled' by a set of interlocking tropes and similitudes' in the words of Stephen Greenblatt, which linked two contemporary and complementary fashioners of human nature, Lope and Montaigne, in a discursive dialogue on how otherwise honest women and men were subject to the vice of lying in their process of self-fashioning, as well as potentially enslaved' by it.

Comicidad y devoción: la risa festiva en la comedia hagiográfica de Lope de Vega

Taking into consideration Lope de Vega’s corpus of hagiographical comedia, we value how the typical comicality of arte nuevo became compatible with that pious sense which was essential to hagiographical plays. We discuss the different roles played by festive laugh in a dramatic subgenre which intended to lead the audience to devotion. The aim of this article is to deepen into the strategies through which comedias de santos contributed to a double prospect, festive and pious.

El valor estructural de la magia en el universo pastoril de Lope de Vega

The different aspects of magic became an essential ingredient of bucolic universe since the origin of pastoral genre. Within an idealized and utopic frame, magic built a bridge towards transcendence, and balanced the disharmony created by human love emotions within Arcadian microcosm. This concept of magic became infused to Sixteenth century pastoral novel through Neoplatonism and Hermetic tradition. From a narratological point of view, magic episodes became indispensable to complete the philosophical meaning of the works. Lope de Vega, in La Arcadia, published in 1598, fully participated from this tradition, though he will approach the convention from a particular dramatic-like perspective. And it was precisely in pastoral comedias where the Fénix ends up deconstructing bucolic code to remodel it as a mere vestige of the tradition and treat magic as a humorous ingredient.
