Overweight and obesity are pandemics and have been widely discussed in Public Health and Health at Work. Comorbidities such as metabolic syndrome, hypertension, diabetes mellitus type 2, orthopedic disorders and coronary diseases can induce to absenteeism, reduced work performance, disability and death. The aim of this review is to discuss the role of the nurse in control and prevention of these illnesses in the workplace. We concluded that occupational health nurses work should act proactively with a multidisciplinary team aimed at individual and collective monitoring of actions designed to control and prevent overweight and obesity. Furthermore, this professional should follow up the health of individual workers with a high body mass index in order to warn and prevent comorbidities related to these conditions.

With the advances of osseointegration principles, the use of implant-supported prosthesis has become a routine treatment option. The success of an implant is initially associated to the surgical technique, primary stability and absence of bacterial contamination on the implant site. Subsequently, the absence of mechanical trauma (overload) and peri-implantitis are sine qua non conditions to the longitudinal success of implant treatment. Therefore, the strict maintenance of oral hygiene is highly important to avoid biofilm accumulation around the implant and consequently to provide last-long implant-supported dentures. The clinician has the responsibility to supply a favorable prognosis to the patient so that the rehabilitation succeed. For this reason, during prosthesis fabrication the clinician should observe the design and emergency profile of the prosthesis, the peri-implant sulcus depth as well as the presence of motor or psychological impairment by the patient. Subjects with missing teeth and that will be submitted to the implant treatment should be motivated and adequate instructed regarding oral hygiene and its importance since the best option to obtain treatment longevity and consequently patient’s satisfaction is the prevention. Therefore, this study aimed to perform a literature review about the hygiene of implant-supported prosthesis.

The most common sleep disorder is obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS), that is characterized by repeated pauses in breathing during sleep, resulting in partial or complete obstruction of the upper airway. It is associated with systemic arterial hypertension and obesity. Objective: To assess the frequency of OSAS in the adult population of Botucatu by the Berlin questionnaire. Method: Transveral study was performed in which the sample size was estimated at 385 individuals. The Berlin questionnaire was administered to adults randomly on the streets, supermarkets and local shops. Data were analyzed taking into account age, gender, "high risk for OSAS", hypertension, obesity and correlations for OSAS. Results: 468 people interviewed were aged between 18 and 95 years, average of 59 years. 166 (35.25%) individuals were identified as "high risk for OSAS", being more frequent in the population above 40 years. Obesity was present in 23.3%, more common in women (60.2%). 83.5% of the population obese also had a "high risk for OSAS". Hypertension was observed in 27.3%, of these 71.9% were at "high risk for OSAS". Conclusion: The study showed a high frequency of "high risk for OSAS" in the adult population. Despite the dissemination by the media about sleep apnea, patients are not investigated, even under medical care for hypertension.

The objective of the research was to evaluate the effect of a training program of physical exercises mixed (aerobic / anaerobic conditioning circuit-break with active), including exercises, walking, weight training and Swiss ball, caused about possible changes in their metabolic system, as changes acute and chronic, individuals bearers of DM2. The methodology used is a model of experimented design of pretest and post-test applied to the group. The blood glucose levels were analyzed in fasting pre-test and post-test, and capillary glycemia in three periods of physical exercise: pre, during and post training, and the statistical processing done by the use of Statistical Software for PC-For SPSS ® Windows ®, V. 12.0 .. With the result has been a drop in the values significant glucometers between 6 weeks of training, with a negative delta average of 68 mg / dl. Furthermore, similar results were also found variations in the daily glycemic between the moments before and after the training session acute. Thus we find that, regardless of the biological mechanism responsible, the program mixed aerobic and anaerobic conditioning circuit-break with active was effective in reducing and controlling chronic and acute glycemic of subjects type 2 diabetic.

Hepatic encephalopathy (HE) is a functional disorder of the central nervous system (CNS) associated with liver failure, either end-stage chronic liver disease or fulminant hepatic failure. Its pathogenesis remains complex and poorly understood. In view of recent advances in the management of HE, the Brazilian Society of Hepatology endorsed a monothematic meeting regarding HE in order to gather experts in the field to discuss related data and to draw evidence-based recommendations concerning: management of HE and intracranial hypertension in FHF, treatment of episodic HE in cirrhosis, controversies in the management of EH including difficult to treat cases and diagnostic and treatment challenges for minimal HE. The purpose of this review is to summarize the lectures and recommendations made by the panel of experts of the Brazilian Society of Hepatology.
