As part of this initiative we are currently offering free IBM Bluemix accounts, either to be used within a course, or for students to use for personal skills development. IBM Bluemix provides a comprehensive cloud based platform as a service solution set which includes the ability to quickly and easily integrate data from devices from Internet of Things ( IoT) solutions to develop and run productive and user focused web and mobile applications. El liderazgo organizacional: una aproximación desde la perspectiva etológica

La presente investigación plantea la necesidad fundamental de generar un proceso de análisis, tendiente a proponer dinámicas organizativas humanas, desde un enfoque etológico. La etología aparece entonces como un estudio sistemático del comportamiento animal, sus formas de asociación, su disparidad, pero sobre todo, su accionar orgánico en la búsqueda de un comportamiento colectivo que propenda por el bien común. En esta medida el liderazgo surge como una posibilidad clara de fomentar relaciones humanas centradas en las diferentes vertientes relacionales; cultura, comunicación, comunidad, axiología, y finalmente etología. Así mismo, se examinan las diferentes estrategias que el liderazgo como posibilidad de cambio dentro de las organizaciones, puede ser fundamentado mediante procesos de comparación etológica, y así generar propuestas que configuren un quehacer organizacional desde la solidaridad, el liderazgo, y el desenvolvimiento interno y externo de las organizaciones.

Academic stress in master’s students and its modulatory variables: a between-groups design

The present investigation tries to establish the descriptive profile of the academic stress of the students of the masters in education and to identify which sociodemographic and situational variables play a modulator role. This investigation is based on the Person-Surroundings Research Program and the systemical cognitive model of academic stress. The study can be characterized as transectional, correlational and non experimental. The collection of the information was made through the SISCO inventory of Academic Stress which was applied to 152 students. The main results suggest that 95% of the master students report having felt academic stress a few times but with medium-high intensity. Variables gender, civil state, attending masters and institutional support of the attending masters act as modulators in academic stress.

Factores psicológicos asociados al desempeño académico en los cursos universitarios de estadística: diferencias por sexo y área de titulación

Se examinaron factores auto-perceptivos (autoconcepto,autoeficacia) y actitudinales referentes a la estadísticapara determinar si las interacciones entre el perfil autoperceptivo/actitudinal del estudiante, el sexo y el área detitulación se asocian con el rendimiento académico y laansiedad estadística. En una muestra de estudiantes universitarioscolombianos (178 mujeres, 154 hombres), losanálisis de conglomerados revelaron dos perfiles autoperceptivos/actitudinales significativamente distintos,según los niveles bajos (perfil-1) o altos (perfil-2) en lasvariables de agrupación (autoconcepto, autoeficacia yactitudes hacia la estadística). Los análisis de varianzay de covarianza mostraron que el perfil auto-perceptivo/actitudinal de los estudiantes tiene un efecto significativoen el rendimiento y la ansiedad estadística, que varía porsexo y área de titulación. Los hallazgos contrastan conlos de otros estudios que examinan los mismos constructosseparadamente.
