Un procedimiento para la caracterización de estrategias en problemas de sucesiones que involucran el razonamiento inductivo

En este documento presentamos un procedimiento para caracterizar las estrategias empleadas en la resolución de problemas relacionados con sucesiones de números naturales lineales y cuadráticas que involucran el razonamiento inductivo. Este procedimiento se fundamenta en la naturaleza del razonamiento inductivo y en el análisis de contenido de las sucesiones, teniendo en cuenta la estructura conceptual, los sistemas de representación y los aspectos cognitivos asociados al contenido matemático.

Recursos para una experiencia en el aula con fractales

En esta comunicación se describe y analiza una experiencia en un aula TIC con alumnos de tercero de ESO en la que se utiliza Internet como fuente de información para profundizar en una construcción matemática de gran atractivo visual y de gran aplicabilidad en la modelización de la naturaleza, los fractales.

Propuesta metodológica para la enseñanza de las secciones cónicas

Esta propuesta metodológica, nace como producto de la tesis de maestría de uno de los ponentes, en ella se intenta mostrar una forma de enseñar las secciones cónicas en un ambiente didáctico que se basa en que el estudiante aprenda haciendo. Por ello, se presentan actividades para que el estudiante explore y descubra características de las figuras que él construirá y, en diálogo con sus compañeros y el docente, construya su propio conocimiento. Para lograr este proceso se empleó como referente teórico el modelo de Van-Hiele el cual se caracteriza al tener dos secciones, una de las cuales es descriptiva, en ella se observan niveles de razonamiento. La otra parte nos da a los maestros las pautas para que nuestros estudiantes avancen de un nivel a otro, estas pautas se conocen como fases de aprendizaje.

Temporal management using relative time in knowledge-based process control

In this paper, a knowledge-based approach is proposed for the management of temporal information in process control. A common-sense theory of temporal constraints over processes/events, allowing relative temporal knowledge, is employed here as the temporal basis for the system. This theory supports duration reasoning and consistency checking, and accepts relative temporal knowledge which is in a form normally used by human operators. An architecture for process control is proposed which centres on an historical database consisting of events and processes, together with the qualitative temporal relationships between their occurrences. The dynamics of the system is expressed by means of three types of rule: database updating rules, process control rules, and data deletion rules. An example is provided in the form of a life scheduler, to illustrate the database and the rule sets. The example demonstrates the transitions of the database over time, and identifies the procedure in terms of a state transition model for the application. The dividing instant problem for logical inference is discussed with reference to this process control example, and it is shown how the temporal theory employed can be used to deal with the problem.

Modelling the nano-scale phenomena in condensed matter physics via computer-based numerical simulations

A review of the atomistic modelling of the behaviour of nano-scale structures and processes via molecular dynamics (MD) simulation method of a canonical ensemble is presented. Three areas of application in condensed matter physics are considered. We focus on the adhesive and indentation properties of the solid surfaces in nano-contacts, the nucleation and growth of nano-phase metallic and semi-conducting atomic and molecular films on supporting substrates, and the nano- and multi-scale crack propagation properties of metallic lattices. A set of simulations selected from these fields are discussed, together with a brief introduction to the methodology of the MD simulation. The pertinent inter-atomic potentials that model the energetics of the metallic and semi-conducting systems are also given.
