Molecular dynamics characterization of n-octyl-beta-D-glucopyranoside micelle structure in aqueous solution

n-Octyl-beta-D-glueopyranoside (OG) is a non-ionic glycolipid, which is used widely in biotechnical and biochemical applications. All-atom molecular dynamics simulations from two different initial coordinates and velocities in explicit solvent have been performed to characterize the structural behaviour of an OG aggregate at equilibrium conditions. Geometric packing properties determined from the simulations and small angle neutron scattering experiment state that OG micelles are more likely to exist in a non-spherical shape, even at the concentration range near to the critical micelle concentration (0.025 M). Despite few large deviations in the principal moment of inertia ratios, the average micelle shape calculated from both simulations is a prolate ellipsoid. The deviations at these time scales are presumably the temporary shape change of a micelle. However, the size of the micelle and the accessible surface areas were constant during the simulations with the micelle surface being rough and partially elongated. Radial distribution functions computed for the hydroxyl oxygen atoms of an OG show sharper peaks at a minimum van der Waals contact distance than the acetal oxygen, ring oxygen, and anomeric carbon atoms. This result indicates that these atoms are pointed outwards at the hydrophilic/hydrophobic interface, form hydrogen bonds with the water molecules, and thus hydrate the micelle surface effectively. A DETECÇÃO DE SINAIS E SINTOMAS DA VIOLÊNCIA NA FASE DIAGNÓSTICA DA PSICOTERAPIA BREVE

Investiga as interferências da violência doméstica na fase diagnóstica, que antecede a Psicoterapia Breve, sua importância no quadro clínico apresentado pelo paciente, se a violência foi verbalizada pelo paciente e a forma como ela foi captada pelo terapeuta e levada em consideração na fase diagnóstica da Psicoterapia Breve Infantil. Foram investigados sinais e sintomas de 29 pacientes de Psicoterapia Breve Infantil. A avaliação das entrevistas iniciais que compõem a fase diagnóstica da Psicoterapia Breve, foi realizada por dois juizes independentes, com índice de concordância igual a 0,87. Foram detectados sinais e sintomas de violência doméstica em 24 dos 29 casos analisados, o que corresponde a 83% do total de pacientes. A violência doméstica foi considerada significativa para uma situação-problema a ser trabalhada em análise em 54% dos casos, o que mostra que é uma situação de limiar, em que 50% das percepções são verdadeiras e a outra metade são falsas. Dos 13 casos em que a violência doméstica foi significativa pelos juízes, apenas 54% estavam incluídas na compreensão psicodinâmica da queixa, pelo terapeuta. A inclusão da violência doméstica no foco da Psicoterapia Breve foi observada somente em 2 casos, o que corresponde a 07% da amostra geral, muito perto da incidência de mecanismos psicóticos que prejudicam a socialização (08%). Os resultados obtidos foram discutidos segundo a literatura psicanalítica, que considera a violência como a parte agressiva do self que ainda não está integrada ao self, permanecendo dissociada do conluio da família e às vezes do próprio psicoterapeuta. Tais resistências em lidar com a violência não permitem que a agressividade seja usada de forma construtiva pelo self, promovendo a socialização da criança pelo fortalecimento dos sentimentos de amizade e favorecendo o desenvolvimento de vínculos emocionais saudáveis na dupla criança e psioterapeuta.(AU)

Tekst powstał jako część wprowadzająca do książki o Lidze Narodów obejmującej lata 1926-1933. Oczekiwania wydawcy na książkę skromniejszą objętościowo wymusiło istotne zmiany koncepcyjne oraz redakcyjne fragmentów już napisanych. Ta część napisanej już pracy do zmienionej ze względów "organizacyjnych" koncepcji nie przystaje. Walka zaś i opór w istniejących na rynku wydawniczym warunkach, byłyby jałowym biegiem. Zaprezentowany materiał jest zatem wstępną wersją, której cyzelowanie, uzupełnianie i poprawianie nie wyzwalało emocji.

Selective removal of anionic dyes using poly (N, N -dimethyl amino ethylmethacrylate) functionalized graphene oxide

An in situ polymerization strategy was used to functionalize graphene oxide (GO) with poly(N,N-dimethyl amino ethylmethacrylate) (PDMAEMA) for the selective removal of anionic dyes. Various characterization methods demonstrate that PDMAEMA-grafted GO (GO-PDMAEMA) was successfully synthesized, and the high PDMAEMA content of 68.5% in GO-PDMAEMA changed the zeta potential significantly from -36.5 (GO) to 41.5 (GO-PDMAEMA). This change in the charge of GO-PDMAEMA greatly increased the adsorption capacities for anionic dye orange G (OG) compared to the pristine GO. The maximum adsorption capacity for anionic OG dye based on the Langmuir model is 609.8 mg g-1. The adsorption mechanism is believed to be a consecutive process of intra-particle diffusion and surface adsorption, with electrostatic interactions as the key driving force. The GO-PDMAEMA nanocomposite also showed excellent regeneration capacity and selectivity towards the separation of various anionic dyes (i.e. OG, Eosin yellow and Congo red) from an aqueous dye mixture. In conclusion, our method offers a promising strategy for developing new anionic dye adsorbents.
