Adoption of lean thinking practices at Brazilian auto part companies

The objective of this study is to analyze the adoption of lean thinking practices at Brazilian auto part companies. For such, a survey was conducted at 75 sector companies. The results reveal that among all practices, the “systematic search for continuous improvement" obtained the highest implementation average. In terms of correlation, interdependence was observed among all Lean Manufacturing variables, most especially between LM5 (Kanban) and LM6 (Just-in-Time). This correlation can be explained by the importance of Kanban systems when implementing Just-inTime.

The Arthur Cornwall Papers consist of personal, professional, genealogical and reference files of writer, musician, and historian Arthur Cornwall. The collection contains correspondence, radio scripts, feature articles, genealogical research notes, photographs, scrapbooks, and newspaper clippings. Of particular value are the genealogical files which contain exhaustive research relating to the Cornwall-Cornwell and Colvin families of Chester County. The collection includes genealogical research on many other Chester County families, such as Bennett, Coleman, Feaster, Hardin, Loving, Tims, Wylie, and Yongue. Included are many community histories.

Margaret Mae Bryant Papers - Accession 21

This collection consists of Dr. Bryant’s professional and organizational files, biographical data, correspondence, and speeches. Most of the material relates to her publishing efforts, her work as a faculty member at Brooklyn College, and her involvement with professional organizations, especially the New York branch of the American Association of University Women. Most of the material extends form 1950-1975. A list of the more prominent individuals who corresponded with Margaret Bryant has been included as an appendix to the inventory. The Robert Lawrence McFadden Papers consist of correspondence, reports, minutes, studies, legislative bills, and acts, amendment copies, financial records, news releases, policy statements, maps and newspaper clippings relating to Mr. McFadden’s career as a member of the S.C. House of Representatives for District #50 of York County. the papers relate to such diverse topics and organizations as the York County Nature Museum, alcohol and drug abuse, the Catawba Regional Planning Council, the death penalty, public education, social services, Winthrop University and York Technical College, rural fire departments, et al. The collection is arranged so that the general correspondence appears first in the collection followed by a subject file arranged alphabetically. A random collection of newspaper clippings closes out the collection. All records are arranged in their respective subject files in general chronological order.

The Ruth Lenore Hovermale Papers consists of correspondence, minutes, reports, photographs, program notes, financial records, teaching notes, and related records, mainly concerning her teaching and research as a home economist and her involvement with professional organizations and Women’s Clubs, including the South Carolina Home Economics Association and the South Carolina Council for the Common Good. Her papers contain extensive reference files on fashion, textiles, and clothing.

There is also information concerning the American Dietetic Association, the South Carolina Dietetic Association, the Piedmont Dietetic Association, the American Home Economics Association, and the South Carolina Home Economics Association, including conference material, memos, and correspondence. Miss London was president of the South Carolina Dietetic Association in 1967.

The Mary Elizabeth Massey Papers consist of Dr. Massey’s professional and organizational files and includes biographical data, correspondence, lecture and teaching materials, rough notes and unpublished drafts of Dr. Massey’s journal articles and books, speeches, research notes and photo and typescript copies of historical manuscripts from other repositories. Most of the material pertains to Dr. Massey’s publishing efforts, her work as a Winthrop faculty member and scholar and her involvement with professional organizations, especially the Southern Historical Association and the Civil War Centennial Commission. While there is material extending from Dr. Massey’s student days at Hendrix College (a 1937 graduate), most of the substantive material extends from 1953-1973.

Review of issues concerning the use of reproductive inhibitors, with particular emphasis on resolving human-wildlife conflicts in North America

This manuscript provides an overview of past wildlife contraception efforts and discusses the current state of research. Two fertility control agents, an avian reproductive inhibitor containing the active ingredient nicarbazin and an immunocontraceptive vaccine, have received regulatory approval with the Environmental Protection Agency and are commercially available in the USA. OvoControl G Contraceptive Bait for Canada Geese and Ovo Control for pigeons are delivered as oral baits. An injectable immunocontraceptive vaccine (GonaCon Immunocontraceptive Vaccine) was registered with the Environmental Protection Agency for use in female white-tailed deer in September 2009. An injectable product (GonaCon Immunocontraceptive Vaccine) is registered for use in female white-tailed deer. Both products are labeled for use in urban/suburban areas where these species are overabundant. Several other compounds are currently being tested for use in wildlife in the USA, Europe, Australia and New Zealand that could have promise in the future. The development and use of reproductive inhibitors for resolving human–wildlife conflicts will depend on a number of factors, including meeting the requirements of regulatory agencies for use in the environment and on the biological and economical feasibility of their use. Use will also be dependent on health and safety issues and on public acceptance of the techniques.
