Um modelo cognitivo baseado na atenção para consciência em robôs inteligentes

Understanding consciousness is one of the most fascinating challenges of our time. From ancient civilizations to modern philosophers, questions have been asked on how one is conscious of his/her own existence and about the world that surrounds him/her. Although there is no precise definition for consciousness, there is an agreement that it is strongly related to human cognitive processes such as: thinking, reasoning, emotions, wishes. One of the key processes to the arising of the consciousness is the attention, a process capable of promoting a selection of a few stimuli from a huge amount of information that reaches us constantly. Machine consciousness is the field of the artificial intelligence that investigate the possibility of the production of conscious processes in artificial devices. This work presents a review about the theme of consciousness - in both natural and artificial aspects -, discussing this theme from the philosophical and computational perspectives, and investigates the feasibility of the adoption of an attentional schema as the base to the cognitive processing. A formal computational model is proposed for conscious agents that integrates: short and long term memories, reasoning, planning, emotion, decision making, learning, motivation and volition. Computer experiments in a mobile robotics domain under USARSim simulation environment, proposed by RoboCup, suggest that the agent can be able to use these elements to acquire experiences based on environment stimuli. The adoption of the cognitive architecture over the attentional model has potential to allow the emergence of behaviours usually associated to the consciousness in the simulated mobile robots. A configuração de forças na constituição histórica do trabalho como estratégia de cuidado em saúde mental: problematizações foucaultianas

Investigated in this paper, as contributions to Foucault's genealogy of knowledge, the historical constitution of the joint activities between Work and Care in Mental Health (called Therapeutic Workshops, among other names) in their different purposes and dimensions that contributed to the production care of patients with psychological distress at different times. History is here understood as a multiplicity (and nonlinearity) of time series and various blending and shuffleforming speeches as truths. In conjunction we have discussed, we conclude that the work as a therapeutic modality in nursing homes, there emerged in the world of psychiatry, but of capitalism. Associated with measures of occupation "empty minds" of misfits, later earned the position of an instrument of discipline and social regulation. With the Psychiatric Reform, activities Work in Mental Health have been re-invented as spaces enablers of access to citizenship and contractuality social network users.

A produção técnico-científica de James Precott Joule: uma leitura a partir da epistemologia de Ludwig Fleck

This paper aims an epistemologically analysis of the attempt of James Prescott Joule to replace the steam engine by the electric one. In this historical analysis, we use the epistemological categories: style of thinking, collective thinking, intercollective circulation of ideas and practices,Joule and other technicians in Machester received in that time financial incentives from governments and industry to replace the steam engine by the electric one, since it was in Manchester a culture of the technique of the accuracy and precision in which Joule was immersed, which allowed us to initially identify the styles of techniques thinking and experimental efficiency. However, Joule could not replace the steam engine by the electric; and the awareness of the problems faced by him, in the attempt to make such a substitution, led him to seek, through an intercollective circulation of ideas and practices, such as the studies of Faraday and Jacobi, a change of direction in his researches. According to our analysis, what happened was a change of style from a technical to a scientific thinking. In this sense, Joule began to investigate issues of a scientific nature, as the Joule’s effect and the mechanical equivalent of heat, which contributed significantly to the establishment of the principle of conservation of energy. We present here the contributions of this epistemological analysis to the discussion of questions of the nature of science in the basic education and for the training of physics teachers.

A dialética materialista histórica na Educação Matemática

Apresentamos nosso entendimento, confirmado por pesquisa e pela prática em diversas situações de sala de aula, de que o método da Dialética Materialista Histórica pode e deve ser utilizado no ensino e na aprendizagem de Matemática. Neste artigo, exemplificamos a abordagem sugerida, discutindo dialeticamente a expressão matemática do Fator Previdenciário.

Auto-organização, complexidade e formação da consciência bioética

This article introduces the concepts of self-organization and autonomy as presented by the thought of Michel Debrun and Edgar Morin and their relationship to the development of a bioethical conscience by means of the school educational process. The proposal aims to contribute to the development of autonomy of students and thus be conducive to their self-organization as “responsible ethical subjects”.
