Liderazgo y desarrollo de competencias académicas, profesionales y personales en estudiantes de Sociología

Este trabajo de investigación analiza los efectos que produce individualmente un proceso de coaching entre estudiantes de nuevo ingreso y de último curso del grado en Sociología de la Universidad de Alicante que, de forma voluntaria, han adquirido el compromiso de desarrollar sus valores personales y competencias académicas a través de esta herramienta. Partiendo de la metodología y datos obtenidos en la Trait Meta-Mood Scale (TMMS)-24, del grupo de investigación de Salovey y Mayer, se evalúa la Inteligencia Emocional. Este test se administra al inicio y al final del proceso a los estudiantes del curso 2014/2015. Adem��s, se evalúan los datos resultantes de la aplicación de un modelo de cuestionario inicial, utilizado en coaching ejecutivo para el entorno empresarial y adaptado al contexto universitario, para conocer la situación de partida de cada estudiante. Se analizan comparativamente los resultados académicos obtenidos por los participantes en el proyecto durante los cursos 2013/2014 y 2014/2015.

Fixation pattern analysis with microperimetry in nystagmus patients

Objective: To assess the usefulness of microperimetry (MP) as an additional objective method for characterizing the fixation pattern in nystagmus. Design: Prospective study. Participants: Fifteen eyes of 8 subjects (age, 12–80 years) with nystagmus from the Lluís Alcanyís Foundation (University of Valencia, Spain) were included. Methods: All patients had a comprehensive ophthalmologic examination including a microperimetric examination (MAIA, CenterVue, Padova, Italy). The following microperimetric parameters were evaluated: average threshold (AT), macular integrity index (MI), fixating points within a circle of 1° (P1) and 2° of radius (P2), bivariate contour ellipse area (BCEA) considering 63% and 95% of fixating points, and horizontal and vertical axes of that ellipse. Results: In monocular conditions, 6 eyes showed a fixation classified as stable, 6 eyes showed a relatively unstable fixation, and 3 eyes showed an unstable fixation. Statistically significant differences were found between the horizontal and vertical components of movement (p = 0.001), as well as in their ranges (p < 0.001). Intereye comparison showed differences between eyes in some subjects, but only statistically significant differences were found in the fixation coordinates X and Y (p < 0.001). No significant intereye differences were found between microperimetric parameters. Between monocular and binocular conditions, statistically significant differences in the X and Y coordinates were found in all eyes (p < 0.02) except one. No significant differences were found between MP parameters for monocular or binocular conditions. Strong correlations of corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA) with AT (r = 0.812, p = 0.014), MI (r = –0.812, p = 0.014), P1 (r = 0.729, p = 0.002), horizontal diameter of BCEA (r = –0.700, p = 0.004), and X range (r = –0.722, p = 0.005) were found. Conclusions: MP seems to be a useful technology for the characterization of the fixation pattern in nystagmus, which seems to be related to the level of visual acuity achieved by the patient.

Laboratory measurements on sediment samples and density well logs run at DSDP Site 534 in the Blake-Bahama Basin were used to establish an in situ velocity and density structure. Synthetic seismograms were generated for comparison to reprocessed seismic reflection data in the vicinity of the Site. Uncertainties in the relative positions of the hole and seismic reflection data, velocity corrections, and the composition of the unrecovered section were evaluated. In light of the errors and compressed section, no unique correlation of the seismic reflection data to the drill hole is completely defensible either in this chapter or elsewhere. The preferred correlation resulting from this exercise is as follows, with the Site 534 report correlation shown in parentheses where different. Horizon beta', 887 m; Horizon beta, 950 m (975 m); Horizon C , 1202 m (1250 m); Horizon C, 1268 m (1340 m); Horizon D', 1342 m (1432 m); Horizon D, 1550 m (1552 m). The major differences in these correlations arise from the use of slightly different velocities and hole location relative to the seismic profiles. The Site 534 report results rely on hole placement on a basement flank, whereas in this chapter we locate it within a basement depression still within the uncertainty of the navigation. The Site 534 report also uses drilling rates, CDP velocity analyses, sonobuoy data, and previous similar drilling correlation methods used at Site 391, along with other geologic considerations in arriving at differing results. Although the correlation method used in this investigation is more objective and the hole location uncertainties better defined, in order to have confidence in any results we will require drilling in areas where reflections are either more widely spaced or where we have better vertical velocity control in the hole.
