This paper deals with the issue of terminology and conceptualization in the construction of the semiotic metalanguage. The starting point of this discussion is the scientific thought of C. S. Pierce, R. Bastide and É. Benveniste, who understand that the creation of a new science requires a new and precise terminology. This position is relativized and magnified by the point of view of A. J. Greimas, who defends the centrality of the conceptualization rather than the formalization and the terminological production. Thus, this study proposes and analyses two types of metalinguistic elaboration based on the dialogue with previous theories and disciplines: the borrowing and the redefining.

The aim of this article is to present the theoretic-methodological bases for the construction of a bilingual terminological dictionary of economics which serves either Portuguese and Spanish speakers. Th e contrasted languages are the Brazilian Portuguese variety and the peninsular and Argentinean varieties. The purpose of this text is based on the principles of the Communicative Theory of Terminology - CTT (Cabré, 1999).

This paper presents methodological considerations related to the study of the plant lexicon of the Juruna ethnic group, an indigenous people of the Xingu Indigenous Park, Mato Grosso State, Brazil. The language of this ethnic group, along with that spoken by the Xipaya, belongs to the Juruna family of the Tupi stock. It is a tonal language with SOV syntactic structure (Fargetti 1992, 2007), and presents interesting processes of reduplication (Fargetti 1997). Part of our broader research project on the lexicology and lexicography of the language, research on the Juruna plant lexicon is still in development, together with studies of other semantic fields such as birds, material culture, and kinship relations. However, it is already possible to see interesting linguistic issues involving word formation, as well as issues of the relationship between language and culture (especially those related to “perspectivism”). These issues are presented in this paper.

This article aims at developing the so-called ontopolitics as G. Deleuze s innovative contribution to contemporary political philosophy. This objective will lead us to inspect the concept of power that Deleuze borrowed from Foucault and extended in order to assign to it an ontological adequacy. The concept of power opens access to another important element of the Deleuzean political philosophy, that is, the study of the historical diagrams of the power in the so-called discipline and control societies. With the combined dynamical diagram of both, we become aware of the portrait Deleuze draws for the democracy in contemporary societies. Digging into the Deleuzean ontopolitics, we will devote ourselves to the concepts of majority, minority and minor-becoming. It is in this point that the meeting between Deleuze s ontoplitics and Ch. Sanders Peirce s mathematical ontology becomes sound. It happens that Deleuze s ontopolitical concepts, besides their bond to an ontology of the power, receive also a mathematical treatment related to certain arithmetical (denumerable and nondenumerable) and geometrical notions (lines). The majorities and minorities are denumerable sets which are crossed by nondenumerable becomings. This step done, we will reach the stand point of the present paper, where we carry out initial approach with regard to an image for the concepts of majority and minority on the basis of Peirce s theory of collections and multitudes, mostly envisaging the mathematical ontology included in it. Accordingly, the main operation to be accomplished is that the Deleuzean distinction between the denumerable majorities/minorities and the nondenumerable mino-becoming may be mapped out in terms of discrete collections called enumerable, denumerable and abnumerable or postnumerable, in compliance with Peirce s terminology.

This paper will discuss the wedding in the historical conditions of feudalism, and mainly, summarize partially the book Heloise and Isolde and other ladies of the twelfth century, in which the author provided an historical condition significant, exploring of an original manner the documents known. Then we will see as important medievalists have studied the issues addressed by Duby as kinship, sexuality, male and female, and that were the object of our work, serving as a counterpoint to them.

This study aimed to draw the profile of informal caretakers in the city of Assis, SP, analyzing the relationships between quality of life (QL) and burden rates (BR) due to the care tasks. It is a Sample Study of the traverse type, in which 165 female informal caretakers, above 18 years old, residents in the urban area were interviewed through a structured questionnaire and standardized scales. We observed that the caretakers of our sample do not fell themselves too much burdened and, yet they present reasonable indexes of quality of life. However, differences in the rates of burden and quality of life were observed when considering social markers (social class, educational level, generation and parenthood), living or not with the person who is being cared. Besides, we found a significant negative correlation between BR and QL, that is, as higher the burden perception, as lower the QL evaluation. These inequalities urge for new studies and reflections in what concerns public policies in the sense of supporting and improving home care.

The objective of this study was to analyze intergenerational patterns of alcohol related violence (ARV). An intentional sample comprising 42 family members was selected according to a set of criteria, including history of ARV. A genogram based on anonymous semi-structured taped interviews was created. The Content Analysis pointed to different patterns of repetition of intergenerational ARV. The most recurrent ones were those of lineal consanguinity (father/son) and through marriage. We observed similarities over the generations of each family as regards the pattern of alcohol consumption; the type of violence; the family reaction and the family life cycle in which ARV was intensified. Our results confirm the intergenerational reproduction of ARV. In conclusion, it is important to create intervention strategies to prevent intergenerational repetition of this association of behaviors.
