Intelectuais, literatura e imprensa no pós-golpe

Culture and the arts in Brazil were impacted directly by the military coup from 1964 onwards. In spite of repression and censorship, the activity of intellectuals and artists in the pre-1964 period was not interrupted nor became stagnant, but gained even greater force due to the presence of control and restrictions by the institutions of repression over against the freedom of creation and thought. As in many sectors of cultural production, literature played a vigorously combative role against the arbitrariness of the regime and implemented “projects of resistance” on the basis of key elements of representation. This occurred, for instance, through the writing and circulation of works such as Pessach: a travessia, by journalist Carlos Heitor Cony, and Quarup, by journalist Antonio Callado. The two novels enabled a broad debate on the narrative form and the scope of involvement in the literature of the 1960s, such as the confrontation between Paulo Francis and Ferreira Gullar in the pages of Revista Civilização Brasileira, which is the focus of this article.

Aplicativos móveis para análise de problemas de fala

This paper presents two mobile applications developed for assistance on the analysis of speech related problems: Contagem de Disfluências (Disfluency Counter) and Velocidade de Leitura (Reading Speed). The use of tablet mobile devices streamlines the procedures for speech problem analysis conducted by speech language therapist. The lack of tabletspecific software designed for this purpose in the Portuguese language, and suited to the Brazilian needs, motivated the development of these applications, which was conducted according to the Kanban agile methodology.

Correlação entre autoestima e grau de severidade da disfunção temporomandibular em sujeitos controle e afetados

INTRODUCTION: Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) have association with psychological manifestations. OBJECTIVE: The aims of this study were to correlate the severity of TMD and the level of self-esteem, and to investigate sex‑related differences. MATERIAL AND METHOD: We evaluated 57 subjects of both gender, with mean age of 20.28 ± 2.07 years, through the Fonseca Anamnesis Index (FAI) and Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale (RSS). Correlations between variables were performed using the Spearman correlation coefficient; comparisons between the genders were performed using the Mann-Whitney test. It was considered a significance level of 5%. RESULT: No differences were found for the comparisons between the gender in the FAI (p = 0.79) and the RSS (p = 0.90). RSS correlates with the FAI in women (p = 0.01), but in men this result does not occur (p = 0.07). CONCLUSION: We concluded that women are more likely to have emotional disturbances resulting from changes in the temporomandibular joint than men.

Expressão de receptores Toll-like - 2 e Toll-like - 4 em membranas corioamnióticas de gestações complicadas por corioamnionite

Corioamnionite é definida como inflamação das membranas corioamnióticas, sendo que tal inflamação resulta geralmente de infecção bacteriana do líquido amniótico, das membranas fetais e da placenta. O sistema imune inato constitui a primeira linha de defesa do hospedeiro contra patógenos e nesse sentido os receptores Toll-like (TLR) são importantes reguladores dessa resposta inespecífica. Entretanto, a expressão desses receptores nas membranas corioamnióticas de gestações complicadas por corioamnionite não está bem estabelecida. Investigar a expressão de receptores Toll-like -2 e -4 em membranas corioamnióticas de gestações complicadas por corioamnionite. Foram incluídas no estudo 48 membranas corioamnióticas, coletadas no Serviço de Obstetrícia do Hospital das Clínicas da Faculdade de Medicina de Botucatu, UNESP, no período de janeiro a novembro de 2008, de gestações pré-termo e de termo, incluindo gestantes com rotura prematura de membranas pré-termo (RPM-PT), trabalho de parto pré-termo (TPP) além de gestações de termo (GT). Fragmentos das membranas corioamnióticas foram encaminhados à análise histopatológica para confirmação de corioamnionite histológica. Outros fragmentos de 1cm2 das membranas foram acondicionados em RNA later® e foram submetidos à extração de RNA total. Após a extração do RNA, as amostras com concentração entre 0,02 e 0,2μg/ μL de RNA foram submetidas à obtenção de cDNA para posterior utilização na quantificação da expressão de TRL-2 e TLR-4 pela técnica da PCR em tempo real empregando-se o sistema TaqMan® Gene Expression Assays. Comunicação, cultura e linguagem

Os artigos apresentados neste volume da coleção “Desafios Contemporâneos” têm como objetivo refletir sobre os problemas atuais que marcam o diálogo com o campo acadêmico e científico da Comunicação. Os 18 artigos reunidos aqui contemplam a área de Comunicação e envolvem diferentes linhas de pesquisa. A iniciativa teve como fim expor não apenas as discussões gerais sobre o campo, mas também a experiência singular e atuante dos pesquisadores da Unesp dedicados ao estudo da Comunicação. Três eixos nortearam a organização dos artigos. O primeiro, “Múltiplas formas de linguagem e produção de sentido”, reúne textos que investigam o campo da produção, da circulação e do funcionamento e das estruturas da linguagem nas diversas mídias e nas suas tipologias textuais. “Políticas e estratégias da Comunicação” trata dos processos e fluxos de comunicação no mundo atual e sua relação com a política na sociedade. Já o terceiro eixo, “Relações socioculturais e suas manifestações na esfera da indústria cultural e das mídias digitais”, analisa as dimensões dos processos, da difusão e da recepção dos produtos midiáticos em sua relação sociocultural. Entre os temas abordados estão a comparação entre as linguagens jornalística e publicitária, a censura judicial à liberdade de imprensa, o desafio teórico-metodológico na aplicação da antropologia interpretativa ao campo da comunicação, conjunturas e desafios da educação superior em comunicação no Brasil, a focalização da vida operária no cinema de Leon Hirszman pelo filme Eles não usam black-tie, entre outros.

The representation of the work of memory and the search for identity in The voyage out by Virginia Woolf In The Voyage Out, Virginia Woolf portrays the protagonist by showing her inner thoughts. Strategy that analogically allows the conception of the esthetic work of the author as being close to the Freudian memory supported by life and death drives. The objective of this study is to show how the psychic states, revealed by the protagonist, are articulated with the work of memory and the search for identity in the novel.

Síndromes paraneoplásicas: o que o cirurgião-dentista precisa saber?

Introduction: the term paraneoplastic is a clinical, biochemical, hormonal, neurological and/or associated disorder with hematologic malignancies, but not directly related to primary tumor invasion and metastasis. Paraneoplatic syndromes may be the first sign of a malignancy. Review of literature: the syndromes that are most commonly related to dentistry are of lambertt-Eaton, Gardner, Cowden disease, Peutz-Jeghers, Sjögren, multiple endocrine neoplasic, multiple neurofibromatosis of Von Recklinghausen, nevoid basal cell carcinoma, acanthosis nigrans and pemphigus paraneoplastic. Conclusion: early diagnosis of malignant neoplasms favors prognosis and paraneoplastic syndromes assist in diagnosis. It is important that surgeons-dentists know these events in order to diagnose them as soon as possible and refer these patients to specialized treatment.

Lymphoepithelial cyst in jugal mucosa

Mouth lymphoepithelial cyst is rare, with few cases reported in literature. The aim of this article is to describe a clinical case, focusing on clinical and diagnostic aspects, treatment and prognosis. The lesion was one year old and had developed as a fibrous nodule in the jugal mucosa of a 71-year-old leucoderma patient. Considering focal inflammatory fibrous hyperplasia, fibroma and mucocele as differential diagnosis, excisional biopsy was carried out. A cystic cavity limited by pseudostratified epithelium without projections into the conjunctive tissue, with lymphoid tissue within, was microscopically identified. Without postoperative adverse events, the one-year clinical followup confirmed the favorable prognosis of this kind of lesion.
