En aquest Projecte de Millora de la Qualitat Docent es descriu el disseny, la construcció i la utilització d’un robot mòbil com a eina docent en titulacions d’Enginyeria. El robot mòbil té com a element de control un PC portàtil convencional per tal de facilitar el procés d’aprenentatge de l’alumnat estigui centrat en l’objectiu de les pràctiques i no en el funcionament i control del robot. A més a més, el robot disposa d’un elevat nombre de sensors i actuadors per tal d’oferir un elevat grau d’interdisciplinaritat.

Els objectius estan orientats cap a l’assoliment dels criteris de qualitat i la seva adaptació a les característiques de la titulació. És a dir, en quina mesura les diferents activitats docents permeten assolir les competències definides en la titulació. En aquest sentit, a continuació es relacionen els objectius plantejats: 1. Fer el seguiment de la docència de les dues assignatures d’estudi del projecte. 2. Construir un protocol d’assegurament de la qualitat docent, en el marc de la titulació, que permeti el seguiment i l’aplicació a la totalitat de la titulació. 3. Establir els processos de control i assegurament de la qualitat docent segons els criteris d’aprenentatge de Bolonya. 4. Aquests objectius hauran de ser desenvolupats durant la docència de les matèries objecte d’estudi. Els procediments que es presenten en aquest treball se centren en l’avaluació experimental de dos indicadors centrals en cada una de les assignatures de la prova. Els resultats aconseguits en aquest projecte dintre de la Prova Pilot de la titulació de Publicitat i Relacions Públiques ens porten cap a dues direccions. Primerament, les primeres proves i els indicis obtinguts fins al moment permeten determinar que l’aplicació de la metodologia Bolonya demostra tenir una major potència docent en una de les assignatures analitzades “Introducció a la creativitat publicitària”, i que, a més, identifica el caràcter d’estudiants que més rendiment d’aprenentatge en treuen. En l’altra assignatura, els resultats encara no són concloents, tot i que s’endevina que manté el ritme de bons resultats que ja es mostraven d’inici. En segon lloc, els resultats analitzats permeten pensar que l’ús de la metodologia Bolonya no implica cap detriment docent i a més a més, permet treballar de manera millor les matèries. La present recerca, doncs, quantifica en quin grau s’estableix la progressió d’aprenentatge amb les activitats docents en la nova metodologia Bolonya expressat en aquest valor de potència docent.

El projecte consisteix en la captura de dades per mitjà del sistema GPS, mitjançant aquestes dades hem d'endevinar en quin vehicle ens desplacem per a portar el càlcul del consum del CO2 dels nostres desplaçaments. El programa ha estat desenvolupat per ser funcional a sobre de dispositius mòbils que tinguin targeta de memòria externa i Java J2ME, inclou interfície gràfica.

Quan Miguel Primo de Rivera va pujar al poder l’any 1923, una de les primeres accions que va portar a terme fou la imposició de la censura en la premsa, tant pel que fa a les publicacions periòdiques com als llibres. A la pràctica, però, l’impacte d’aquesta censura en l’edició de llibres va ser força reduït: de fet, durant els anys que va durar el directori el món editorial va viure un creixement considerable, tant pel que fa als volums editats (originals i traduïts) com al nombre de segells editorials. Amb aquest treball em proposo construir una base de dades que inclogui totes les traduccions publicades a Catalunya de 1923 a 1930 a partir de la qual em sigui possible valorar diversos aspectes relacionats amb l’activitat traductora durant la dictadura de Primo de Rivera (per exemple, les matèries i llengües més traduïdes, el perfil dels traductors més actius o les editorials i col•leccions més actives en la traducció).

MOTIVATION: The anatomy of model species is described in ontologies, which are used to standardize the annotations of experimental data, such as gene expression patterns. To compare such data between species, we need to establish relations between ontologies describing different species. RESULTS: We present a new algorithm, and its implementation in the software Homolonto, to create new relationships between anatomical ontologies, based on the homology concept. Homolonto uses a supervised ontology alignment approach. Several alignments can be merged, forming homology groups. We also present an algorithm to generate relationships between these homology groups. This has been used to build a multi-species ontology, for the database of gene expression evolution Bgee. Power is a fundamental force in social relationships and is pervasive throughout various types of interactions. Although research has shown that the possession of power can change the powerholder, the full extent of power's consequences on individuals' decision making capabilities and social interactions within organizations is not fully understood. The goal of this paper is to review, synthesize, and critique the literature on power with a focus on its organizational and managerial implications. Specifically, we propose a definition of power that takes into account its three defining characteristics-having the discretion and means to enforce one's will-and summarize the extant literature on how power influences individuals' thoughts, emotions, and actions both in terms of prosocial and antisocial outcomes. In addition, we highlight important moderators of power and describe ways in which it can be studied in a more rigorous manner by examining methodological issues and pitfalls with regard to its measurement and manipulation. We also provide future research directions to motivate and guide the study of power by management scholars. Our desire is to present a thorough and parsimonious account of power's influence on individuals within an organizational context, as well as provide a foundation that scholars can build upon as they continue to make consequential contributions to the study of power.

(Résumé de l'ouvrage) This book is meant to honour the Belgian religious educationalist Herman Lombaerts reflecting on his legacy. He is internationally renowned as a scholar with a strong commitment to and a conceptual analysis of the social and cultural context in which people live and learn. This series of essays is build upon a thought provoking, streamlined design on the relationship between theology and education, relying on Lombaerts' societal and cultural analysis of contemporary religious education. Three key elements are at stake: the self-agency of the learner, the hermeneutic and communitive interpretation of religious traditions in the teaching of religion, and the radical re-imagination of Christian theology relying on this new model of religious educational praxis. For Lombaerts, the search processes of religious people have their own dynamic and dignity. Practical theology should listen carefully and empathetically to this quest. But he is also convinced of the need of solid fundamental research to understand critically its ambiguities and perspectives. Scholars from Europe, the United States and Australia lead the way in this process of "conceptual stretching". Issues such as happiness of children, identity formation of youth, educational and religious insecurity of parents, multi-faith education, tradition crisis of churches, theological education of lay ministers, narrativity and modern art in religious education, etc. are examined from a practical theological point of view, with a strong commitment to the philosophical, psychological, sociological, educational and political dimensions of three issues. With this book the editors hope to commemorate Lombaerts' international radiation, by building a collegial bridge between the different theoretical approaches in the German, Dutch, French, Italian and Anglo-Saxon religious educational research.

This IPH report explores the extent health was incorporated into SEA in a manner which would suggest a good understanding of the many social and economic factors which strongly influence health. The research identifies that a consideration of health is not routinely included in SEAs. There is a need to build capacity and change mindsets in how SEAs are undertaken to more completely factor in the health impacts.

Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic disorders characterised by too much glucose in the blood. The body breaks down digested food into a sugar called glucose from which it derives energy. The hormone insulin allows the body to use that sugar by helping glucose to enter the cells. When a person has diabetes, either the pancreas fails to produce enough insulin or the body cannot properly use the insulin it has. As a result there is a build-up of glucose in the blood causing the cells to be starved of energy. In 2011, the National Energy Retrofit Programme will build upon existing energy saving programmes in both the domestic and non-domestic sectors. This consultation focused on key design considerations. IPH agree with the commitment to deliver a National Energy Retrofit Programme as a sustainable means of securing energy savings and reducing energy poverty and the nations carbon footprint. The IPH response highlighted the significant benefit to health and would support the use of Health Impact Assessment

The Institute of Public Health in Ireland (IPH) is an all-island body which aims to improve health in Ireland, by working to combat health inequalities and influence public policies in favour of health. IPH promotes co-operation in research, training, information and policy in order to contribute to policies which tackle inequalities in health. Over the past ten years IPH has worked closely with the Department of Health and Children and the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety in Northern Ireland to build capacity for public health across the island of Ireland. Key pointsIPH welcomes the opportunity to contribute to the questionnaire content for the 2011 Census of Population. We are particularly interested in how information collected by the Census can contribute to improved health and in this regard are broadly supportive of the questions addressing health in the current Census questionnaire. We feel that an additional question that assesses self-perceived health would be extremely useful as, while this is a subjective assessment, it has been shown to correlate well with actual health status and use of health services.

IPH welcome the opportunity to comment on the Department for Social Development, Draft Regeneration Framework for the North West Quarter Part 2 area of Belfast City Centre, the ‘Northside Urban Village’. The Framework outlines the vision for the redevelopment of an inner city area of Belfast. It is recognized that a number of social, economic and environmental factors influence health. Urban regeneration has major implications for health as it includes not only physical redevelopment but also issues such as education, employment, environmental conditions, housing, welfare and healthcare. Urban regeneration can also help to address health inequalities at a local level, as the areas where regeneration is undertaken are usually marked by poor economic and social conditions. The North West Quarter Part 2 area of Belfast is a historic part of the city. The identified area is one of the most socio-economically deprived areas of not only Belfast but Northern Ireland. The area is characterised by the large number of people who receive income and housing benefits, have low levels of educational qualifications, high rates of long-term illnesses and it is also an area of high long-term unemployment.
