Tutkimuksen perusteella urakoitsijoilla on tarvetta tietojärjestelmille.

Mechanical alloying (MA) pioneered by Benjamin is a technique for the extension of solid solubility in systems where the equilibrium solid solubility is limited. This technique has, in recent years, emerged as a novel alternate route for rapid solidification processing (RSP) for the production of metastable crystalline, quasicrystalline, amorphous phases and nanocrystalline materials. The glass-forming composition range (GFR), in general, is found to be much wider in case of MA in comparison with RSP. The amorphous powders produced by MA can be compacted to bulk shapes and sizes and can be used as precursors to obtain high strength materials. This paper reports the work done on solid state amorphization by MA in Ti-Ni-Cu and Al-Ti systems where a wide GFR has been obtained. Al-Ti is a classic case where no glass formation has been observed by RSP, while a GFR of 25–90 at.% Ti has been obtained in this system, thus demonstrating the superiority of MA over RSP. The free energy calculations made to explain GFR are also presented.

This study examines the interaction between inhabitants and urban planning. In addition to traditional methods of participation there can be seen an increasing need to find new channels and means to influence on one´s environment. Hearing of inhabitants during planning is hoped to decrease the amount of claims and this way to speed up the planning process. Discussion that emphasizes competitiveness and innovativeness in planning has brought out the role of inhabitants as selective consumers and end users. This extension of civil perspective completes the thought of participation in city planning and adds the pressure on developing the interaction and user orientation. The aim of the study is to point out the present situation of inhabitant´s participation and influencing in Helsinki. Helsinki City Planning Department opened a new information and exhibiotion hall called Laituri in 2008. Laituri provides the latest information about planning projects in Helsinki and temporary exhibitions as well as it operates as communication channel and information point for the department. In this study Laituri is examined as a case study of interaction between citizen and planner. The study is divided into two principal themes. The aim is to research action and interactivity at Laituri from the inhabitants´and planners´point of view. The qualitative study has inquiries, interview surveys and observation as research methods. Empiricial data of the study consists of three parts which complement each other: Laituri operational reseach, inquiry directed to the members of Laituri team and interviews of three experts. The aim is to find answers to questions like, does Laituri reach the citizens and will the opportunities to participate improve along Laituri. The study examines also how the local knowledge of inhabitants will come across to planners and further to planning. The study combines discussions of inhabitants´ influencing in Finnish society and science community. Cornerstones of the study are inhabitant participation, interaction and local knowledge in urban planning. The theory behind the study is communicative planning theory. In addition the theory consists of key concepts. The study introduces a concept of Inhabitant´s Helsinki, which reflects the inhabitant as customer-citizen who is an active product developer in participative urban planning. According to the research results the experts of Laituri and majority of inhabitants in Helsinki experience that the inhabitant´s possibilities to participate will improve along Laituri. However half of the citizens in Helsinki believe that local knowledge and ideas will only have minor impact on the final plan. According to city dwellers the present practise used by Helsinki City Planning Department supports only partially adequate interaction. The experts of Laituri experience that the role of Laituri is first of all forum of communication and discussion channel instead of effective local data collector. Based on the results the study introduces a model of inhabitant´s participation field. According to the model Laituri can be seen as phenomenom in Helsinki urban planning which has the elements of network municipality. The planner is more like diplomatic trend-setter and visionary. The inhabitant of Helsinki is an expert in city living and participative producer of local knowledge. Participation methods are increasingly segmented and tailored in every plan and project. The study argues that Inhabitant´s Helsinki is a pluralistic milieu in constant pressure for change. Therefore reaching the everyday life experiencies of inhabintants should be at higher degree in Helsinki City Planning Department´s operations.

Oxide pyrochlores of the formula A2BB? O7 (A = La, Nd; BB? = Pb, Sn, Bi) have been synthesized by a low-temperature ambient-pressure route employing KOH melts. All the compositions, including La2Bi2O7 and its strontium-substituted derivatives, La2-xSrxBi2O7-?, are deeply colored insulators, confirming that a metallic ground state is not achieved for Pb(IV) and Bi(IV/V) oxides with the pyrochlore structure.

Nanometric aggregates of solids can be classified into two types, nanograined or nanophased materials and nanocomposites. In the present paper after a brief review including the relation between size and boundary fraction, the basic principles that can be utilized to synthesize these materials from liquid route has been discussed. We shall present examples to show that with proper choice of systems and conditions it is possible to obtain nanocomposites in systems showing clustering tendencies in liquid as well as the systems exhibiting ordering tendencies leading to compound formation

We are reporting a novel green approach to incorporate silver nanoparticles (NPs) selectively in the polyelectrolyte capsule shell for remote opening of polyelectrolyte capsules. This approach involves in situ reduction of silver nitrate to silver NPs using PEG as a reducing agent (polyol reduction method). These nanostructured capsules were prepared via layer by layer (LbL) assembly of poly(allylamine hydrochloride) (PAH) and dextran sulfate (DS) on silica template followed by the synthesis of silver NPs and subsequently the dissolution of the silica core. The size of silver nanoparticles synthesized was 60 +/- 20 nm which increased to 100 +/- 20 nm when the concentration of AgNO3 increased from 25 mM to 50 mM. The incorporated silver NPs induced rupture and deformation of the capsules under laser irradiation. This method has advantages over other conventional methods involving chemical agents that are associated with cytotoxicity in biological applications such as drug delivery and catalysis. Porous, large surface area, metastable zirconias, are of importance to catalytic, electrochemical, biological, and thermal insulation applications. Combustion synthesis is a very commonly used method for producing such zirconias. However, its rapid nature makes control difficult. A simple modification has been made to traditional solution combustion synthesis to address this problem. It involves the addition of starch to yield a starting mixture with a ``dough-like'' consistency. Just 5 wt% starch is seen to significantly alter the combustion characteristics of the ``dough.'' In particular, it helps to achieve better control over reaction zone temperature that is significantly lower than the one calculated by the adiabatic approximation typically used in self-propagating high-temperature synthesis. The effect of such control is demonstrated by the ability to tune dough composition to yield zirconias with different phase compositions from the relatively elusive ``amorphous'' to monoclinic (> 30 nm grain size) and tetragonal pure zirconia (< 30 nm grain size). The nature of this amorphous phase has been investigated using infrared spectroscopy. Starch content also helps tailor porosity in the final product. Zirconias with an average pore size of about 50 mu m and specific surface area as large as 110 m2/g have been obtained.

Present work shows the feasibility of decentralized energy options for the Tumkur district in India. Decentralized energy planning (DEP) involves scaling down energy planning to subnational or regional scales. The important aspect of the energy planning at decentralized level would be to prepare an area-based DEP to meet energy needs and development of alternate energy sources at least-cost to the economy and environment. The geographical coverage and scale reflects the level at which the analysis takes place, which is an important factor in determining the structure of models. In the present work, DEP modeling under different scenarios has been carried out for Tumkur district of India for the year 2020. DEP model is suitably scaled for obtaining the optimal mix of energy resources and technologies using a computer-based goal programming technique. The rural areas of the Tumkur district have different energy needs. Results show that electricity needs can be met by biomass gasifier technology, using biomass feedstock produced by allocating only 12% of the wasteland in the district at 8 t/ha/yr of biomass productivity. Surplus electricity can be produced by adopting the option of biomass power generation from energy plantations. The surplus electricity generated can be supplied to the grid. The sustainable development scenario is a least cost scenario apart from promoting self-reliance, local employment, and environmental benefits. We demonstrate an ultrafast method for the formation of, graphene supported Pt catalysts by the co-reduction of graphene oxide and Pt salt using ethylene glycol under microwave irradiation conditions. Detailed analysis of the mechanism of formation of the hybrids indicates a synergistic co-reduction mechanism whereby the presence of the Pt ions leads to a faster reduction of GO and the presence of the defect sites on the reduced GO serves as anchor points for the heterogeneous nucleation of Pt. The resulting hybrid consists of ultrafine nanoparticles of Pt uniformly distributed on the reduced GO susbtrate. We have shown that the hybrid exhibits good catalytic activity for methanol oxidation and hydrogen conversion reactions. The mechanism is general and applicable for the synthesis of other multifunctional hybrids based on graphene.

Nanocrystalline ZnO:Mn (0.1 mol%) phosphors have been successfully prepared by self propagating, gas producing solution combustion method. The powder X-ray diffraction of as-formed ZnO:Mn sample shows, hexagonal wurtzite phase with particle size of similar to 40 nm. For Mn doped ZnO, the lattice parameters and volume of unit cell (a=3.23065 angstrom, c=5.27563 angstrom and V=47.684 (angstrom)(3)) are found to be greater than that of undoped ZnO (a=3.19993 angstrom, c=5.22546 angstrom and V=46.336 (angstrom)(3)). The SEM micrographs reveal that besides the spherical crystals, the powders also contained several voids and pores. The TEM photograph also shows the particles are approximately spherical in nature. The FTIR spectrum shows two peaks at similar to 3428 and 1598 cm(-1) which are attributed to O-H stretching and H-O-H bending vibration. The PL spectra of ZnO:Mn indicate a strong green emission peak at 526 nm and a weak red emission at 636 nm corresponding to T-4(1) -> (6)A(1) transition of Mn2+ ions. The EPR spectrum exhibits fine structure transition which will be split into six hyperfine components due to Mn-55 hyperfine coupling giving rise to all 30 allowed transitions. From EPR spectra the spin-Hamiltonian parameters have been evaluated and discussed. The magnitude of the hyperfine splitting (A) constant indicates that there exists a moderately covalent bonding between the Mn2+ ions and the surrounding ligands. The number of spins participating in resonance (N), its paramagnetic susceptibility (chi) have been evaluated. (C) 2011 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
