Community Development Strategy May 2012

The Community Development Strategy for Health and Wellbeing has been developed jointly by the Health and Social Care Board and the Public Health Agency.�The main purpose of the strategy is to recognise and support the important and pivotal role that community development plays in improving health and wellbeing.�The HSCB and PHA want to see strong, resilient communities where everyone has good health and wellbeing - places where people look out for each other and have community pride in where they live.�We seek to narrow the gap in health inequalities and improve the health and wellbeing of the population.�This means working to address the determinants of ill health and reducing risk factors, including those associated with poverty and social exclusion, and this can only be achieved in partnership with the community.The strategy was influenced by a widespread consultation in 2011 - details available here - during which over 300 individuals and organisations attended workshops and 60 written responses were received.�The following documents are attached below:Community Development Strategy - Consultation ResponsesCommunity Development Strategy - Executive SummaryCommunity Development Action PlanCommunity Development Strategy Community Development Strategy - Performance Management Framework

Regional guidelines for nurses when sharing information with NIGALA

Effective safeguarding children practice depends upon information sharing, collaboration and understanding between families, agencies and professionals. Nurses are required to work in partnership with other disciplines and agencies to safeguard and promote the health and wellbeing of children and young people. This includes working in partnership with the guardian ad litem (guardian) appointed by the court when making decisions regarding the best interests of a child or young person.This guidance replaces previous regional guidance. Regional implementation will ensure that information held by nurses is shared with the guardian in a consistent, timely and appropriate manner, so that informed decisions can be made in the best interests of children and young people.

Commissioning Plan 2013/14

This Commissioning Plan describes the actions that will be taken across health and social care during 2013/14 to ensure continued improvement in the health and wellbeing of the people of Northern Ireland.The plan, developed in partnership by the Health and Social Care Board and the Public Health Agency, responds to the Commissioning Plan Direction published by the Minister for Health, Social Services and Public Safety on the 28 of January 2013. In doing so, it outlines a range of actions that have been developed in partnership with patients and the public which are driven by need, clear goals and budgetary transparency.

En aquest treball s'han atacat tres vessants del problema: la disseminació de la informació, la integració de dades de diverses fonts i finalment la seva visualització. Basant-nos en el Sistema d'Anotacions Distribuides, DAS, hem creat un aplicatiu per a la creació automatitzada de noves fonts de dades en format estandaritzat i accessible programàticament a partir de fitxers de dades simples. Aquest progrtamari, easyDAS, està en funcionament a l'Institut Europeu de Bioinformàtica. Aquest sistema facilita i encoratja la compartició i disseminació de dades genòmiques en formats usables. jsDAS és una llibreria client de DAS que permet incorporar dades DAS en qualsevol aplicatiu web de manera senzilla i ràpida. Aprofitant els avantatges que ofereix DAS és capaç d'integrar dades de múltiples fonts de manera coherent i robusta. GenExp és el prototip de navegador genòmic basat en web altament interactiu i que facilita l'exploració dels genomes en temps real. És capaç d'integrar dades de quansevol font DAS i crear-ne una representació en client usant els últims avenços en tecnologies web.

High-frequency linkage of co-expressing T-DNA in transgenic Arabidopsis thaliana transformed by vacuum-infiltration of Agrobacterium tumefaciens

The efficiency of co-expression and linkage of distinct T-DNAs present in separate Agrobacterium tumefaciens was analysed in Arabidopsis thaliana transformed by the vacuum infiltration method. Co-expression was monitored by the synthesis of three bacterial proteins involved in the production of polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) in the plastids. Out of 80 kanamycin-resistant transgenic plants analysed, 13 plants were co-transformed with the two distinct T-DNAs and produced PHB. Of those, 7 lines had a kanamycin-resistance segregation ratio consistent with the presence of a single functional insert. Genetic linkage between the distinct T-DNAs was demonstrated for all 13 PHB-producing lines, while physical linkage between the distinct T-DNAs was shown for 12 out of 13 lines. T-DNAs were frequently linked in an inverted orientation about the left borders. Transformation of A. thaliana by the co-infiltration of two A. tumefaciens containing distinct T-DNAs is, thus, an efficient approach for the integration and expression of several transgenes at a single locus. This approach will facilitate the creation and study of novel metabolic pathways requiring the expression of numerous transgenes.
