Aiming to contribute to understanding the Brazilian academic production on literacy, theses and dissertations on the subject, completed between 1965 and 2011, are analyzed. Situating them in the historical process of constitution of literacy as an object of study, since the 19th. century, beyond the political and historical context of origin in the 1960s, the following contexts are focused, especially from the 1980s, when begins the process of expansion in terms of amount of this academic production and geographic diversity as well as areas of expertise of the graduate programs in which they were defended. While these advances confirm the importance of approaches that consider the interdisciplinary and multifaceted character of literacy, there are contradictions that present significant challenges to researchers seeking both understand the permanence of motivations and pragmatic purposes as to proposing new themes, objects, theoretical and methodological aspects for the development of new research that are lacking, as diagnosed needs and desired progress, scientifically and socially.

O municpio de Rio Claro, localizado na regio central do estado de So Paulo, durante o auge da era do caf, da imigrao tanto estrangeira como regional e da instalao de vrias empresas, dentre elas a Companhia Paulista de Estradas de Ferro se urbanizou num acelerado ritmo, assim como tantas outras cidades do Brasil. Como resultado o aglomerado urbano cresceu, necessitando que seu permetro expandisse para a zona rural, comprometendo tanto o seu patrimnio histrico quanto o cultural. Antigas propriedades datadas do final do século XIX que resistem ao do tempo e mantm viva a riqueza e a cultura da poca do lugar cidade. Esse processo observado no bairro rural do Sobrado, localizado na regio norte de Rio Claro, que vem sofrendo diretamente com a expanso urbana atravs da criao de novos loteamentos residenciais e comerciais. Portanto, o avano da urbanizao tem provocado degradao e/ou desaparecimento dos fatos histricos e culturais ainda presentes nos bairros rurais do municpio

Among living beings, the human species is distinguished by the need to produce material and intentionally its existence through labor, an important part of a process of humanization. However, in the current historical conditions, the work does not meet the vital needs of the vast majority, as they do not owned what they produce, they do not realize as humans beings in work activity, they dehumanize themselves. Since, even in such conditions, continue to work everyday, we ask ourselves how they support the condition in which they live. As the decision of the historical men are defined by the education process they experienced, we question whether the schooling that take places in capitalist public school has the purpose of developing an instruction in the working class graduating to be exploited at work throughout life, consenting to be bound of the relationships use of themselves by others, multiple determinate, while they are adapted to a life without the products work. Our hypothesis is that to make this education project, the public school needed to assimilate the scientific management, developed by Frederyck Taylor, in the pedagogical organization. We based on dialectical and historical materialism, which we established the public school environment as reproducing the class struggle, highlighting the teacher work. The research was conducted in a Baurus public school, where teachers answered questionnaires that were used to analyze the formulated hypothesis

O presente trabalho ser desenvolvido em uma quadra urbana no centro da cidade de Roma que compreende o Complexo da Crypta Balbi em cujo espao possvel realizar uma leitura do ponto de vista arquitetnico e urbano ao longo da história e ver refletida a cidade ao longo de seu desenvolvimento atravs de vestgios arqueolgicos do incio da formao de Roma (III a.C.) at construes do século XIX . O trabalho visa a restaurao e reabilitao do Complexo, mais especificamente das edificaes localizadas na Via del Delfini a fim de abrigar um edifcio de uso pblico assim como a requalificao do espao aberto no interior do quarteiro permitindo sua integrao com o entorno imediato e com os edifcios da quadra

The spatial formation of Rio Claro city preserves several features of the problematic transition from the slave to remunerated labor in the late 20th, when the tacit ethnic bipolar sociability standard emerged, imprinting black and white forms to the citys urban space. The ethnic social clubs Jos do Patrocnio and Tamoio, are two objects of ethnic groups exclusive use. Such ethnic social clubs indicate the existence of conflicts in their formation, as well as in their present existence, they are forms that preserve in themselves the codes and histories of the local black movements fight for their rights and for an autonomous place in the local society. In the present context the spaces are increasingly subjected to commercial interests and the spirits are embedded in confusion. What is the value of these spaces for the subjects who built them? The versions and narratives from oral accounts will allow us to understand the existing dimensions in the relation between the places and the memory, evidencing the importance of the patrimony and the patrimonial policies to the cities in the present historical period of geographic space globalization

This article brings to light the latest research on the activities of Baptiste-Louis Garnier, French bookseller and publisher established in Rio de Janeiro, in his relations with the French publishing world: methods, procedures, books, authors and publishers. Cultural exchanges between these two systems helped to consolidate the canon of authors and works of Brazilian Literature in the nineteenth century. The study of these relationships can give full account of some information scholars have provided us and contributes to a better understanding of the process of production and circulation of literary works in Brazil.

L'article Uma estria no romance: A mocidade de Trajano veut revoir l'histoire de la publication de ce roman de 1871, reni,quelques annes plus tard, par Alfredo d'Escragnolle Taunay. On y veut aussi vrifier les marques qui ce remettent ceux de Macedo, surtout en ce qui concerne sa filiation au mlodrame (le mot pris dans son sens le plus vaste). Le regard de l'auteur sur le paysage, l'importance du rle attribu par lui la nature scne idaleopposs la constatation des dgts dans les rapports seigneur/esclave, surtout dans les grandes proprits rurales, pendant le XIXe., ont, eux aussi, t objet de rflexions. Finalement, dans cet article on a essay de remarquer la filiation idologique du personnage Trajano des valeurs europennes, notamment franaises.

In the mid-nineteenth century, in his fruitful years of the perhaps best-known shortest literary career, lvares de Azevedo wrote this verse As ondas so anjos que dormem no mar (The waves are angels who sleep in the sea). In the presentation of Joo Gilberto Nolls young adult novel Anjo das ondas (Angel of the waves) in 2010, Ivan Marques states that the character in the novel, Gustavo, with his adolescent passion, and torn spirit with overflowing lyrics, could even be compared to our tropical Byron. Joo Gilberto Noll establishes a connection between him and lvares de Azevedo that invites the reader to go beyond a first reading level of his work, seeking evidence of dialogue ratification between two apparently distant writers. The subtle intertextuality exceeds the initial clue and can be detected on Nolls theme development from the history of Gustavo, a troubled teenager in search of his identity. Nolls affinity to lvares de Azevedo can still be captured in his narrative texture, in voices coming from his text; however, they also reveal to be unique and original features of his literary production. An apparent exercise in style shows that each author fulfills his mission by expressing, in his own way, the feeling of his time. In addition, it shows that through aesthetic emotion, literature allows us to transcend time and space.

O artigo analisa aspectos das relaes entre a escolarizaoe os processos culturais mais amplos, tomando como fontedocumental manuais didticos produzidos para uso em cursos deformao de professores, que circularam no Brasil e em Portugalno perodo final do século XIX e no incio do século XX. Foramfocalizados elementos passveis de generalizao, entre eles aunidade da forma escolar e as diferentes prticas prescritas aosprofessores, destinadas a enraizar valores e ideais no processoformativo. Foram analisados os seguintes manuais: CursoPractico de Pedagogia, de autoria de Mr. Daligault (1874);Elementos de Pedagogia, de autoria de Jose Maria da GraaAffreixo e Henrique Freire (1870); e Lies de pedagogia gerale de história da educao, de Alberto Pimentel Filho (1932).

This paper aims at gathering evidences about the reception of Odorico Mendes Greek andRoman translations among his contemporaries. Some of the most celebrated lusophone writersof the 19th Century such as Joaquim Manoel de Macedo, Gonalves Dias and AntnioFeliciano de Castilho left us their reviews on the work of Mendes, the most productiveand controversial Brazilian translator of the time. The analysis of those data provides valuabledocuments of translation criticism that could constitute evidence of translation practices andmethods in an historical period in which Ancient Literature poetic translations were mostlyproduced.

This article seeks to understand the production of the modern school in Brazil and Portugal at the turn of the 20th century. The analysis falls on the pedagogical knowledge constituted around school programs disseminated in pedagogical manuals at the Normal Schools in Brazil and Portugal. The study uses three teacher training manuals as source of information: Curso pratico de pedagogia destinado aos alunos-mestres das escholas normaes primarias e aos instituidores em exerccio (1874), by Mr. Daligault; Elementos de Pedagogia para servirem de guia aos candidatos ao magistrio primrio (1870), by Jos Maria da Graa Affreixo and Henrique Freire; and Lies de metodologia (1920), by Bernardino da Fonseca Lage.
