The main goal of the InterAmbAr reseach project is to analyze the relationships between landscape systems and human land-use strategies on mountains and littoral plains from a long-term perspective. The study adopts a high resolution analysis of small-scale study areas located in the Mediterranean region of north-eastern Catalonia. The study areas are distributed along an altitudinal transect from the high mountain (above 2000m a.s.l.) to the littoral plain of Empordà (Fig. 1). High resolution interdisciplinary research has been carried out from 2010, based on the integration of palaeoenvironmental and archaeological data. The micro-scale approach is used to understand human-environmental relationships. It allows better understanding of the local-regional nature of environmental changes and the synergies between catchment-based systems, hydro-sedimentary regimes, human mobility, land-uses, human environments, demography, etc.

Aim The reported prevalence of MET overexpression varies from 25-55% in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and clinical correlations are emerging slowly. In a well-defined NSCLC cohort of the Lungscape program, we explore the epidemiology, the natural history of IHC MET positivity and its association to OS, RFS and TTR. Methods Resected stage I-III NSCLC identified based on the quality of clinical data and FFPE tissue availability were assessed for MET expression using immunohistochemistry (IHC) on TMAs (CONFIRM anti total c-MET assay, clone SP44, Ventana BenchMark platform). All cases were analysed at participating pathology laboratories using the same protocol, after passing an external quality assurance program. MET positive status is defined as ≥ 50% of tumor cells staining with 2+ or 3+ intensity. Results A total of 2709 cases are included in the iBiobank and will be analysed. IHC MET expression is currently available for 1552 patients, with positive MET IHC staining in 380 cases [24.5%; IHC 3+ in 157 cases (41.3%) and 2+ in 223 cases (58.7%)]. The cohort of 1552 patients includes 48.2%, 44.7% and 4.4% cases of adenocarcinoma, squamous and large cell histologies, respectively. IHC MET status was independent of stage, age and smoking history. Significant differences in MET positivity were associated with gender (32% vs. 21% for female vs. male, p < 0.001), with performance status (25% vs. 18% for 0 vs. 1-3, p = 0.006), and histology (34%, 14% and 24% for adenocarcinoma, squamous and large cell carcinoma, p < 0.001). IHC MET positivity was independent of the IHC ALK status (p = 0.08). At last FU, 52% of patients were still alive, with a median FU of 4.8 yrs. No association of IHC MET was found with OS, RFS or TTR. Conclusions The preliminary results for this large multicentre European cohort describe a prevalence of MET overexpression that seems lower than previous observations in NSCLC, such as reported for the OAM4971g trial, suggesting potential biological differences between surgically resected and metastatic disease. En aquest Treball de Final de Grau es proposa un pla de gestió per a la finca de propietat privada de la Casanova de Dalt, situada al municipi de les Masies de Voltregà, a Osona. Aquesta finca no disposa de cap element que gestioni el patrimoni natural i cultural que conté, per aquest motiu és de gran interès la seva redacció. L’objectiu del projecte és analitzar els valors que posseeix la finca: faunístics, florístics, paisatgístics, culturals, etc. per avaluar la importància d’aquesta com a punt estratègic dins la comarca, ja que actua com a connector ecològic entre diferents espais protegits de la zona. Un cop obtinguda tota la informació s’han proposat uns objectius per a la finca i un seguit d’estratègies per aconseguir els objectius establerts. Com a resultats del projecte s’han elaborat 7 fitxes d’actuació per dur a terme a la finca. Aquestes fitxes corresponen a estratègies per a la gestió de l’espai i es basen en dues línies principals de treball, la conservació de la biodiversitat i l’ordenació d’usos. La primera està enfocada en conservar els principals valors naturals que presenta la finca i la segona està dirigida a fer compatibles les activitats ago-ramaderes que s’hi duen a terme amb els anteriors valors.

L’objectiu d’aquest treball és investigar com influeix un projecte eTwinning a la motivació d’un grup d’alumnes de 5è de primària. Crec que per augmentar la motivació dels alumnes, el mestre hauria de donar-­‐los motius reals per seguir aprenent. Per aquesta raó, sóc de l’opinió que eTwinning pot ser un instrument útil ja que els estudiants tindran comunicació real en anglès amb altres estudiants europeus que també estiguin aprenent l’anglès com a segona llengua. Observaré l’impacte d’aquest progama en la motivació dels alumnes i la compararé amb la motivació que tenien inicialment.

El càncer produeix un impacte a la família en totes les seves esferes, la família ha de modificar les seves rutines familiars i adoptar nous rols. En el moment del diagnòstic del càncer, a cada família hi ha una persona que assumeix el rol de cuidador principal. Aquest cuidador és el que s’ocupa del malalt a casa i fa d’enllaç entre la família i l’equip sanitari. En front del càncer, la família i el cuidador tenen un conjunt de dubtes, d’inquietuds, de preocupacions que s’acaben traduint en necessitats. L’equip sanitari i Infermeria especialment ha d’atendre aquestes necessitats i ajudar a satisfer-les. Objectiu: L’objectiu principal d’aquest treball es descriure quines són les necessitats que presenten la família i el cuidador dels pacients oncològics. Metodologia: Es va dur a terme una revisió de la literatura entre setembre del 2013 i maig del 2014. Es va utilitzar la base de dades Pubmed, a més de pàgines web i llibres. Es van obtenir un total de 75 fonts, 56 en angles, 18 en espanyol i 1 en català. Resultats: La bibliografia agrupa les necessitats de les famílies i els cuidadors en 7 grans categories: físiques, psicològiques i emocionals, socials, de informació i formació, econòmiques, de transport i espirituals. Pel que fa a necessitats més especifiques, algunes de les més freqüents són tenir informació sobre el pronòstic del malalt, assegurar-se de que l’equip sanitari està donant la millor atenció possible al malalt. Sembla haver-hi una relació entre el grau de no satisfacció de les necessitats i el grau d’ansietat i depressió en la família i el cuidador. Els autors consultats no coincideixen en afirmar si la majoria del les necessitats es veuen satisfetes o no. Conclusions: La família i el cuidador d’un pacient amb càncer també han de rebre atenció per part dels professionals. En moltes ocasions la família treu importància a les seves necessitats per tal de que l’equip sanitari es centri només en el malalt. Infermeria té un paper fonamental en detectar les necessitats dels familiars i cuidadors i en ajudar a satisfer-les, de manera que la família estigui en les millors condicions possibles per cuidar del malalt. Food allergies are believed to be on the rise and currently management relies on the avoidance of the food. Hen's egg allergy is after cow's milk allergy the most common food allergy; eggs are used in many food products and thus difficult to avoid. A technological process using a combination of enzymatic hydrolysis and heat treatment was designed to produce modified hen's egg with reduced allergenic potential. Biochemical (SDS-PAGE, Size exclusion chromatography and LC-MS/MS) and immunological (ELISA, immunoblot, RBL-assays, animal model) analysis showed a clear decrease in intact proteins as well as a strong decrease of allergenicity. In a clinical study, 22 of the 24 patients with a confirmed egg allergy who underwent a double blind food challenge with the hydrolysed egg remained completely free of symptoms. Hydrolysed egg products may be beneficial as low allergenic foods for egg allergic patients to extent their diet. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.

International standards are playing an increasingly important role in market governance while frequently exerting direct effects on health, safety and the environment. Yet civil society, more often than not, is absent from the standardisation procedures. The recommendation made here is to foster the participation of civil society actors in standardisation by framing standardisation topics in a way that will encourage the mobilisation of these actors in accordance with their repertoire of actions and interests and by organising the plural expertise required for the effective participation that is necessary if they are to exert an influence.

Adaptation of organisms to ever-changing nutritional environments relies on sensor tissues and systemic signals. Identification of these signals would help understand the physiological crosstalk between organs contributing to growth and metabolic homeostasis. Here we show that Eiger, the Drosophila TNF-α, is a metabolic hormone that mediates nutrient response by remotely acting on insulin-producing cells (IPCs). In the condition of nutrient shortage, a metalloprotease of the TNF-α converting enzyme (TACE) family is active in fat body (adipose-like) cells, allowing the cleavage and release of adipose Eiger in the hemolymph. In the brain IPCs, Eiger activates its receptor Grindelwald, leading to JNK-dependent inhibition of insulin production. Therefore, we have identified a humoral connexion between the fat body and the brain insulin-producing cells relying on TNF-α that mediates adaptive response to nutrient deprivation.

The present study explores relationships between project marketers and their customers in project marketing context. The purpose of the study is to increase the understanding on supplier’s position in project marketing networks. Project marketing is representing a high volume in the international business, and the industrial network approach and the project marketing research cannot fully explain a supplier’s position in project marketing networks. Increased knowledge on project networks can also contribute to industrial marketing research more generally. Data for the present study was collected firstly during the pilot case study from project buyers in the paper and the steel industry in interviews. Secondly an entire project marketing case concerning a steel industry case was used as a data source. The data included interviews, correspondence between the supplier and the buyer, and project documents. The data of the pilot case was analysed with contents analysis, and in the case a deeper analysis based on the developed Stage Dimension framework was used. Supplier’s position in project marketing networks is a hierarchical and dynamic concept including a supplier’s position on the highest level. The dimensions of the position concept are the intermediate level, and the dimensions are based on the underlying components. Supplier’s position is composed from four organization related dimensions, and two individual actor related dimensions. The composition of the supplier’s position varies during the project marketing process, and consequently the relative importance of the dimensions is changing over the process. Supplier’s position in project marketing networks is shaped by incremental and radical changes. Radical changes are initiated by critical events. The study contributes to the research of industrial networks and project marketing. The theoretical contribution of the study is threefold: firstly it proposes a structure of the position concept in project marketing networks, secondly it proposes the Position Stage Dimension Component (PSDC) model for the development of supplier’s position during the project marketing process, and thirdly the study widens the critical event concept to cover the project marketing process both on the organizational and individual level. In addition to the theoretical contributions there are several managerial implications for planning and implementing marketing strategies in the project context.

The purpose of the Master’s Thesis is to study the best practices to virtual project management from the project manager’ point of view. The best practices are divided according to a five-phase virtual project life cycle model. Each phase include concrete suggestions for actions. Research’s theoretical background is wide because of the broad subject matter. In the theoretical part topics such as virtual working, virtual project management challenges are examined and some concrete actions to tackle these challenges are introduced. Thesis’ approach is constructive, where a known problem is solved piece by piece after creating a pre-understanding of the topic. Existing research work is utilized when creating a model for virtual project team management. The basis of the model comes from various best practices read from literature and from the interviews conducted on experienced virtual project managers in the case organization. As a result the model combines both previous research and the organizations empirical experience. As an output of the thesis a model for virtual project team management is developed, which can be used as a guideline by the virtual project managers in their work. The model includes actions and practices what can be used to overcome the challenges of virtual project management.

The purpose of the study is to find factors affecting projects' profitability in project business. The issue is approached from customer profitability and project management point of view. The study has been made for a big Finnish company acting in a global market place. The research method is quantitative. Research hypotheses are based on the literature. The used database is originated from the company's ERP- (enterprise resource planning) and project financial follow-up —system. The findings of the study supported the hypotheses weakly. Obviously profitability fluctuated depending on a customer and a project manager. The reasons could not be justified with the variables used in the research.
