The effects of laser focusing and fluence on LIBS analysis of pellets of plant leaves was evaluated. A Q-switched Nd:YAG laser (5ns, 10Hz, 1064nm) was used and the emission signals were collected by lenses into an optical fiber coupled to a spectrometer with Echelle optics and ICCD. Data were acquired from the accumulation of 20 laser pulses at 2.0 mu s delay and 5.0 mu s integration time gate. The emission signal intensities increased with both laser fluence and spot size. Higher sensitivities for Ca, K, Mg, P, Al, B, Cu, Fe, Mn, and Zn determinations were observed for fluences in the range from 25 to 60Jcm(-2). Coefficients of variation of site-to-site measurements were generally lower than 10% (n=30 sites, 20 laser pulses/site) for a fluence of 50Jcm(-2) and 750 mu m spot size. For most elements, there is an indication that accuracy is improved with higher fluences. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a major health problem and a leading cause of chronic liver disease in the United States and developed countries. In humans, genetic factors greatly influence individual susceptibility to NAFLD. The goals of this study were to compare the magnitude of interindividual differences in the severity of liver injury induced by methyl-donor deficiency among individual inbred strains of mice and to investigate the underlying mechanisms associated with the variability. Feeding mice a choline-and folate-deficient diet for 12 wk caused liver injury similar to NAFLD. The magnitude of liver injury varied among the strains, with the order of sensitivity being A/J approximate to C57BL/6J approximate to C3H/HeJ < 129S1/SvImJ approximate to CAST/EiJ < PWK/PhJ < WSB/EiJ. The interstrain variability in severity of NAFLD liver damage was associated with dysregulation of genes involved in lipid metabolism, primarily with a down-regulation of the peroxisome proliferator receptor alpha (PPAR alpha)-regulated lipid catabolic pathway genes. Markers of oxidative stress and oxidative stress-induced DNA damage were also elevated in the livers but were not correlated with severity of liver damage. Bone remodeling is affected by mechanical loading and inflammatory mediators, including chemokines. The chemokine (C–C motif) ligand 3 (CCL3) is involved in bone remodeling by binding to C–C chemokine receptors 1 and 5 (CCR1 and CCR5) expressed on osteoclasts and osteoblasts. Our group has previously demonstrated that CCR5 down-regulates mechanical loading-induced bone resorption. Thus, the present study aimed to investigate the role of CCR1 and CCL3 in bone remodeling induced by mechanical loading during orthodontic tooth movement in mice. Our results showed that bone remodeling was significantly decreased in CCL3−/− and CCR1−/− mice and in animals treated with Met-RANTES (an antagonist of CCR5 and CCR1). mRNA levels of receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-B (RANK), its ligand RANKL, tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) and RANKL/osteoprotegerin (OPG) ratio were diminished in the periodontium of CCL3−/− mice and in the group treated with Met-RANTES. Met-RANTES treatment also reduced the levels of cathepsin K and metalloproteinase 13 (MMP13). The expression of the osteoblast markers runt-related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2) and periostin was decreased, while osteocalcin (OCN) was augmented in CCL3−/− and Met-RANTES-treated mice. Altogether, these findings show that CCR1 is pivotal for bone remodeling induced by mechanical loading during orthodontic tooth movement and these actions depend, at least in part, on CCL3.

AIMS: We evaluated the mechanisms involved in insulin-induced vasodilatation after acute resistance exercise in healthy rats. MAIN METHODS: Wistar rats were divided into 3 groups: control (CT), electrically stimulated (ES) and resistance exercise (RE). Immediately after acute RE (15 sets with 10 repetitions at 70% of maximal intensity), the animals were sacrificed and rings of mesenteric artery were mounted in an isometric system. After this, concentration-response curves to insulin were performed in control condition and in the presence of LY294002 (PI3K inhibitor), L-NAME (NOS inhibitor), L-NAME+TEA (K(+) channels inhibitor), LY294002+BQ123 (ET-A antagonist) or ouabain (Na(+)/K(+) ATPase inhibitor). KEY FINDINGS: Acute RE increased insulin-induced vasorelaxation as compared to control (CT: Rmax=7.3 ± 0.4% and RE: Rmax=15.8 ± 0.8%; p<0.001). NOS inhibition reduced (p<0.001) this vasorelaxation from both groups (CT: Rmax=2.0 ± 0.3%, and RE: Rmax=-1.2 ± 0.1%), while PI3K inhibition abolished the vasorelaxation in CT (Rmax=-0.1±0.3%, p<0.001), and caused vasoconstriction in RE (Rmax=-6.5 ± 0.6%). That insulin-induced vasoconstriction on PI3K inhibition was abolished (p<0.001) by the ET-A antagonist (Rmax=2.9 ± 0.4%). Additionally, acute RE enhanced (p<0.001) the functional activity of the ouabain-sensitive Na(+)/K(+) ATPase activity (Rmax=10.7 ± 0.4%) and of the K(+) channels (Rmax=-6.1±0.5%; p<0.001) in the insulin-induced vasorelaxation as compared to CT. SIGNIFICANCE: Such results suggest that acute RE promotes enhanced insulin-induced vasodilatation, which could act as a fine tuning to vascular tone.

We present the results of experiments using a 6He beam on a 9Be target at energies 7 − 9 times the Coulomb barrier. Angular distributions of the elastic, inelastic scattering (target breakup) and the -particle production in the 6He+9Be collision have been analysed. Total reaction cross sections were obtained from the elastic scattering analyses and a considerable enhancement has been observed by comparing to stable systems.

Ansatz zur Generierung einer konditionalen, reversiblen Wt1 k.o.-Maus Der Wilms-Tumor (WT, Nephroblastom) ist ein embryonaler Nierentumor, der durch die maligne Transformation von undifferenziertem Nierengewebe, sog. nephrogenen Resten, entsteht. WT treten mit einer Inzidenz von 1 in 10.000 Lebendgeburten auf. Das Hauptmanifestationsalter, der normalerweise einseitig und sporadisch auftretenden Tumore, liegt zwischen dem 3. und 4. Lebensjahr. Etwa 10 % der Patienten entwickeln jedoch bilaterale Tumore. In diesen Fällen ist eine Assoziation mit komplexen genetischen Krankheitsbildern (u. a. WAGR-, Denys-Drash-, Frasier- und Beckwith-Wiedemann-Syndrom) festzustellen. In 15 % der sporadischen WT sind Mutationen im WT1 (Wilms-Tumor 1)-Gen beschrieben. WT1 besteht aus zehn Exons und weist typische Merkmale von Transkriptionsfaktoren (z. B. vier Zinkfinger) auf. Zwei alternative Spleißereignisse betreffen Exon 5 (+/−Exon 5) und Exon 9 (Transkripte mit bzw. ohne die codierenden Sequenzen für die AS Lysin-Threonin-Serin; +/−KTS). Die Lage der drei alternativ vorhandenen AS zwischen den Zinkfingern 3 und 4 bestimmt die verschiedenen Funktionen der WT1-Proteine (4 Isoformen) als Transkriptionsfaktor (−KTS) bzw. als RNA-bindendes Protein (+KTS). Das zunächst im Zusammenhang mit WT als Tumorsuppressorgen identifizierte WT1 ist ein Entwicklungsgen mit einem sehr komplexen Expressionsmuster in der Embryonalentwicklung. Dabei ist v. a. die Bedeutung in der Urogenitalentwicklung entscheidend. Konstitutive, homozygote Wt1−/− k.o.-Mäuse sind embryonal (~ E12,5 dpc) letal und bilden u. a. keine Gonaden und keine Nieren. Aus diesem Grund existiert bisher kein Wilms-Tumormodell. Die Herstellung eines konditionalen murinen Tiermodells auf Basis des Tet on/off-Systems zur Untersuchung der Nierenentwicklung bzw. zur Analyse der Wilms-Tumorpathogenese war Ziel dieser Arbeit. Hierfür wurden drei Mauslinien generiert: Zwei transgene sog. Responder-Linien, die eine chimäre spleißbare Wt1-cDNA der Variante musWt1+Exon 5;+/−KTS unter der Kontrolle eines Tet-responsiven Promotors im Genom tragen. Dieses tTA/Dox-abhängig regulierbare Wt1-Transgen (tgWt1) sollte (exogen regulierbar) die Expression des endogenen Wt1-Lokus ausreichend nachahmen, um die kritischen Phasen der Embryogenese zu überwinden und lebensfähige Tiere zu erhalten. Parallel dazu wurde die Wt1-Effektor-Mauslinie (WE2) generiert. Diese trägt einen tetrazyklinabhängigen Transaktivator (tTA) zur Steuerung Tet-regulierbarer Transgene unter der Kontrolle des endogenen Wt1-Promotors. Die durch homologe Rekombination in ES-Zellen erreichte Integration des tTA direkt am Translationsstartpunkt des Wt1-Lokus hat in den Tieren einen heterozygoten Wt1 knock out/tTA knock in zur Folge. Die bisher vorgenommenen Verpaarungen doppelt transgener Wt1-tTA+/−/Resp-Mäuse ergaben keinen Rescue des letalen Wt1 k.o. und es konnten bislang keine Wilms-Tumore induziert werden. Alle im Verlauf der Arbeit generierten Mauslinien wurden umfassend charakterisiert. So konnte für die Tiere der Responder-Linien Wt1-Resp1 (mit zusätzlichen Isolator-Sequenzen zum Schutz des Transgens vor Positionseffekten) und Wt1-Resp2 (ohne Isolatoren) konnte die Tet-induzierbare Expression und die Spleißbarkeit des tgWt1 in MEF-Assays und mittels Effektor-Mäusen auf RNA-Ebene nachgewiesen werden. Die genomische Charakterisierung der WE2-Linie ergab eine ungeklärte etwa 120 kb große Inversion am Wt1-Lokus, die alle 5'-regulatorischen Sequenzen mitsamt des tTA vom Rest von Wt1 trennt. Tiere dieser Linie weisen aber dennoch einen funktionalen Wt1 k.o. auf: Unter den Nachkommen aus Intercross-Verpaarungen von Wt1-tTA+/−-Mäusen lassen sich auf Grund der Letalität keine Wt1−/−-Genotypen nachweisen. Die Charakterisierung der Effektor-Linie auf RNA-Ebene und mittels Reporter-Mäusen liefert ein Wt1-analoges tTA-Expressionsmuster: So findet man eine deutliche tTA-Expression u. a. in Niere (Glomeruli), Uterus, Ovar und Testis. Die hier vorgestellten Experimente ergeben darüber hinaus eindeutige Hinweise einer Beteiligung von Wt1 in der Entstehung der glatten Muskulatur bzw. in der Vaskulogenese.

The present thesis is a contribution to the theory of algebras of pseudodifferential operators on singular settings. In particular, we focus on the $b$-calculus and the calculus on conformally compact spaces in the sense of Mazzeo and Melrose in connection with the notion of spectral invariant transmission operator algebras. We summarize results given by Gramsch et. al. on the construction of $Psi_0$-and $Psi*$-algebras and the corresponding scales of generalized Sobolev spaces using commutators of certain closed operators and derivations. In the case of a manifold with corners $Z$ we construct a $Psi*$-completion $A_b(Z,{}^bOmega^{1/2})$ of the algebra of zero order $b$-pseudodifferential operators $Psi_{b,cl}(Z, {}^bOmega^{1/2})$ in the corresponding $C*$-closure $B(Z,{}^bOmega^{12})hookrightarrow L(L^2(Z,{}^bOmega^{1/2}))$. The construction will also provide that localised to the (smooth) interior of Z the operators in the $A_b(Z, {}^bOmega^{1/2})$ can be represented as ordinary pseudodifferential operators. In connection with the notion of solvable $C*$-algebras - introduced by Dynin - we calculate the length of the $C*$-closure of $Psi_{b,cl}^0(F,{}^bOmega^{1/2},R^{E(F)})$ in $B(F,{}^bOmega^{1/2}),R^{E(F)})$ by localizing $B(Z, {}^bOmega^{1/2})$ along the boundary face $F$ using the (extended) indical familiy $I^B_{FZ}$. Moreover, we discuss how one can localise a certain solving ideal chain of $B(Z, {}^bOmega^{1/2})$ in neighbourhoods $U_p$ of arbitrary points $pin Z$. This localisation process will recover the singular structure of $U_p$; further, the induced length function $l_p$ is shown to be upper semi-continuous. We give construction methods for $Psi*$- and $C*$-algebras admitting only infinite long solving ideal chains. These algebras will first be realized as unconnected direct sums of (solvable) $C*$-algebras and then refined such that the resulting algebras have arcwise connected spaces of one dimensional representations. In addition, we recall the notion of transmission algebras on manifolds with corners $(Z_i)_{iin N}$ following an idea of Ali Mehmeti, Gramsch et. al. Thereby, we connect the underlying $C^infty$-function spaces using point evaluations in the smooth parts of the $Z_i$ and use generalized Laplacians to generate an appropriate scale of Sobolev spaces. Moreover, it is possible to associate generalized (solving) ideal chains to these algebras, such that to every $ninN$ there exists an ideal chain of length $n$ within the algebra. Finally, we discuss the $K$-theory for algebras of pseudodifferential operators on conformally compact manifolds $X$ and give an index theorem for these operators. In addition, we prove that the Dirac-operator associated to the metric of a conformally compact manifold $X$ is not a Fredholm operator.

Das wichtigste Oxidationsmittel für den Abbau flüchtiger Kohlenwasserstoffverbindungen (VOC, engl.: volatile organic compounds) in der Atmosphäre ist das Hydroxylradikal (OH), welches sich in einem schnellen chemischen Gleichgewicht mit dem Hydroperoxylradical (HO2) befindet. Bisherige Messungen und Modellvergleiche dieser Radikalspezies in Waldgebieten haben signifikante Lücken im Verständnis der zugrundeliegenden Prozesse aufgezeigt.rnIm Rahmen dieser Doktorarbeit wurden Messungen von OH- und HO2-Radikalen mittelsrnlaserinduzierten Fluoreszensmesstechnik (LIF, engl.: laser-induced fluorescence) in einem Nadelwald in Süd-Finnland während der Messkampagne HUMPPA–COPEC–2010 (Hyytiälä United Measurements of Photochemistry and Particles in Air – Comprehensive Organic Precursor Emission and Concentration study) im Sommer 2010 durchgeführt. Unterschiedliche Komponenten des LIF-Instruments wurden verbessert. Eine modifizierte Methode zur Bestimmung des Hintergrundsignals (engl.: InletPreInjector technique) wurde in den Messaufbaurnintegriert und erstmals zur Messung von atmosphärischem OH verwendet. Vergleichsmessungen zweier Instrumente basierend auf unterschiedlichen Methoden zur Messung von OH-Radikalen, chemische Ionisationsmassenspektrometrie (CIMS - engl.: chemical ionization mass spectrometry) und LIF-Technik, zeigten eine gute Übereinstimmung. Die Vergleichsmessungen belegen das Vermögen und die Leistungsfähigkeit des modifizierten LIF-Instruments atmosphärische OH Konzentrationen akkurat zu messen. Nachfolgend wurde das LIF-Instrument auf der obersten Plattform eines 20m hohen Turmes positioniert, um knapp oberhalb der Baumkronen die Radikal-Chemie an der Schnittstelle zwischen Ökosystem und Atmosphäre zu untersuchen. Umfangreiche Messungen - dies beinhaltet Messungen der totalen OH-Reaktivität - wurden durchgeführt und unter Verwendung von Gleichgewichtszustandsberechnungen und einem Boxmodell, in welches die gemessenen Daten als Randbedingungen eingehen, analysiert. Wenn moderate OH-Reaktivitäten(k′(OH)≤ 15 s−1) vorlagen, sind OH-Produktionsraten, die aus gemessenen Konzentrationen von OH-Vorläuferspezies berechnet wurden, konsistent mit Produktionsraten, die unter der Gleichgewichtsannahme von Messungen des totalen OH Verlustes abgeleitet wurden. Die primären photolytischen OH-Quellen tragen mit einem Anteil von bis zu einem Drittel zur Gesamt-OH-Produktion bei. Es wurde gezeigt, dass OH-Rezyklierung unter Bedingungen moderater OH-Reaktivität hauptsächlich durch die Reaktionen von HO2 mit NO oder O3 bestimmt ist. Während Zeiten hoher OH-Reaktivität (k′(OH) > 15 s−1) wurden zusätzliche Rezyklierungspfade, die nicht über die Reaktionen von HO2 mit NO oder O3, sondern direkt OH bilden, aufgezeigt.rnFür Hydroxylradikale stimmen Boxmodell-Simulationen und Messungen gut übereinrn(OHmod/OHobs=1.04±0.16), während HO2-Mischungsverhältnisse in der Simulation signifikant unterschätzt werden (HO2mod/HO2obs=0.3±0.2) und die simulierte OH-Reaktivität nicht mit der gemessenen OH-Reaktivität übereinstimmt. Die gleichzeitige Unterschätzung der HO2-Mischungsverhältnisse und der OH-Reaktivität, während OH-Konzentrationen von der Simulation gut beschrieben werden, legt nahe, dass die fehlende OH-Reaktivität in der Simulation eine noch unberücksichtigte HO2-Quelle darstellt. Zusätzliche, OH-unabhängigernRO2/HO2-Quellen, wie z.B. der thermische Zerfall von herantransportiertem peroxyacetylnitrat (PAN) und die Photolyse von Glyoxal sind indiziert.

This thesis is on loop-induced processes in theories with warped extra dimensions where the fermions and gauge bosons are allowed to propagate in the bulk, while the Higgs sector is localized on or near the infra-red brane. These so-called Randall-Sundrum (RS) models have the potential to simultaneously explain the hierarchy problem and address the question of what causes the large hierarchies in the fermion sector of the Standard Model (SM). The Kaluza-Klein (KK) excitations of the bulk fields can significantly affect the loop-level processes considered in this thesis and, hence, could indirectly indicate the existence of warped extra dimensions. The analytical part of this thesis deals with the detailed calculation of three loop-induced processes in the RS models in question: the Higgs production process via gluon fusion, the Higgs decay into two photons, and the flavor-changing neutral current b → sγ. A comprehensive, five-dimensional (5D) analysis will show that the amplitudes of the Higgs processes can be expressed in terms of integrals over 5D propagators with the Higgs-boson profile along the extra dimension, which can be used for arbitrary models with a compact extra dimension. To this end, both the boson and fermion propagators in a warped 5D background are derived. It will be shown that the seemingly contradictory results for the gluon fusion amplitude in the literature can be traced back to two distinguishable, not smoothly-connected incarnations of the RS model. The investigation of the b → sγ transition is performed in the KK decomposed theory. It will be argued that summing up the entire KK tower leads to a finite result, which can be well approximated by a closed, analytical expression.rnIn the phenomenological part of this thesis, the analytic results of all relevant Higgs couplings in the RS models in question are compared with current and in particular future sensitivities of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the planned International Linear Collider. The latest LHC Higgs data is then used to exclude significant portions of the parameter space of each RS scenario. The analysis will demonstrate that especially the loop-induced Higgs couplings are sensitive to KK particles of the custodial RS model with masses in the multi tera-electronvolt range. Finally, the effect of the RS model on three flavor observables associated with the b → sγ transition are examined. In particular, we study the branching ratio of the inclusive decay B → X_s γ

Tema di questo lavoro sono i cedimenti indotti dallo scavo di gallerie superficiali in terreni coesivi sotto falda. In questi casi la velocità di avanzamento dello scavo v e la permeabilità del mezzo k influenzano molto l'evoluzione della consolidazione. Le ipotesi di risposta non drenata o drenata del mezzo saturo, comunemente adottate, sono valide solo per rapporto v/k estremamente alto o basso. Nei casi intermedi, analisi numeriche accoppiate che tengano conto del processo di consolidazione durante lo scavo sono indispensabili. Ciò nonostante, queste sono molto rare in letteratura viste le notevoli difficoltà teoriche e numeriche ad esse associate. Proprio per non incrementare ulteriormente tali difficoltà, si è deciso di adottare modelli costitutivi semplici quali: il modello elastico perfettamente plastico con criterio di resistenza alla Mohr Coulomb e il Modified Cam Clay. Dopo un' introduzione sulla risposta del terreno nell'intorno dello scavo al variare del modello costitutivo, è stato svolto uno studio parametrico del processo di consolidazione. Ci si è, successivamente, concentrati sulla capacità dei tre modelli costitutivi di predire l'andamento dei cedimenti, mediante confronto con le soluzioni empiriche proposte in letteratura. Infine, sono state effettuate una serie di simulazioni 3D accoppiate passo-passo con il programma agli elementi finiti Abaqus al variare della permeabilità del mezzo e del rivestimento installato, supposto infinitamente permeabile o impermeabile. È emerso che per v/k<100 o v/k>100000 non è necessario esaminare nel dettaglio la dipendenza dal tempo della risposta del suolo e si possono ottenere risultati affidabili assumendo condizioni drenate o non drenate, rispettivamente. Nei casi intermedi, invece, le condizioni sono da ritenersi transienti e l'unico modo per effettuare correttamente le analisi dei cedimenti e lo studio della stabilità del fronte è mediante analisi numeriche 3D idromeccaniche accoppiate.

PURPOSE To develop a score predicting the risk of adverse events (AEs) in pediatric patients with cancer who experience fever and neutropenia (FN) and to evaluate its performance. PATIENTS AND METHODS Pediatric patients with cancer presenting with FN induced by nonmyeloablative chemotherapy were observed in a prospective multicenter study. A score predicting the risk of future AEs (ie, serious medical complication, microbiologically defined infection, radiologically confirmed pneumonia) was developed from a multivariate mixed logistic regression model. Its cross-validated predictive performance was compared with that of published risk prediction rules. Results An AE was reported in 122 (29%) of 423 FN episodes. In 57 episodes (13%), the first AE was known only after reassessment after 8 to 24 hours of inpatient management. Predicting AE at reassessment was better than prediction at presentation with FN. A differential leukocyte count did not increase the predictive performance. The score predicting future AE in 358 episodes without known AE at reassessment used the following four variables: preceding chemotherapy more intensive than acute lymphoblastic leukemia maintenance (weight = 4), hemoglobin > or = 90 g/L (weight = 5), leukocyte count less than 0.3 G/L (weight = 3), and platelet count less than 50 G/L (weight = 3). A score (sum of weights) > or = 9 predicted future AEs. The cross-validated performance of this score exceeded the performance of published risk prediction rules. At an overall sensitivity of 92%, 35% of the episodes were classified as low risk, with a specificity of 45% and a negative predictive value of 93%. CONCLUSION This score, based on four routinely accessible characteristics, accurately identifies pediatric patients with cancer with FN at risk for AEs after reassessment.

The decreased incidence of cardiovascular disease in premenopausal women has been attributed, at least partially, to protective effects of estrogens. However, premenopausal women with diabetes mellitus are no longer selectively protected. Many guidelines exist on how to treat patients with multiple injuries correctly in an accident and emergency setting. The aim of the present work was to find out how well patients are treated focusing on trauma induced coagulopathy (TIC), and what anaesthetists involved in trauma care think about their own experiences with TIC.

Background Interactions between CXCR4 and its ligand CXCL12 have been shown to be involved in cancer progression in colorectal cancer (CRC). We performed a comparative CXCL12/CXCR4 expression analysis and assessed the effect of external CXCL12 stimulation on migration of CRC cells without and with CXCR4 inhibition. Methods Expression of CXCL12/CXCR4 was assessed by quantitative real-time PCR, ELISA and immunohistochemistry in resection specimens of 50 CRC patients as well as in the corresponding normal tissues and in three human CRC cell lines with different metastatic potential (Caco-2, SW480 and HT-29). Migration assays were performed after stimulation with CXCL12 and CXCR4 was inhibited by siRNA and neutralizing antibodies. Results In CRC tissues CXCL12 was significantly down-regulated and CXCR4 was significantly up-regulated compared to the corresponding normal tissues. In cell lines CXCR4 was predominantly expressed in SW480 and less pronounced in HT-29 cells. CXCL12 was only detectable in Caco-2 cells. CXCL12 stimulation had no impact on Caco-2 cells but significantly increased migration of CXCR4 bearing SW480 and HT-29 cells. This effect was significantly abrogated by neutralizing anti-CXCR4 antibody as well as by CXCR4 siRNAs (P < 0.05). Conclusions CXCR4 expression was up-regulated in CRC and CXCL12 stimulation increased migration in CXCR4 bearing cell lines. Migration was inhibited by both neutralizing CXCR4 antibodies and CXCR4 siRNAs. Thus, the expression and functionality of CXCR4 might be associated with the metastatic potential of CRC cells and CXCL12/CXCR4 interactions might therefore constitute a promising target for specific treatment interventions.
