In 2004 the fish processing company Euro-Baltic Fischverarbeitungs GmbH Mukran, went into operation on the Isle of Rügen at the Baltic coast of Germany. About 20 % of the herring landed there is discharged from the cutters into the processing plant by pipes, driven by pumps, in case that the landed volume exceeds 10 t fresh weight. In such case the herring is transported in water suspension by means of a pressure-vacuum suction pump system into containers and further transported via conveyer belt to a flowscale. During this process most of the water runs off. It is however unknown how much water remains with the fish and is eventually weighted as fish. To estimate this proportion the mixture of water and fish was stored in special transport containers, which allow the measurement of the run-off. As a result the study shows that on average 2 % of weight measured by the tape scale is water. Along with this factors were determined which influence the variability of the proportion of water.

Estimation of the water content of herring landings caused by pressure-vacuum double tank pumps and using of multi purpose transport containers About 80 % of herring that is landed in the fish processing company Euro-Baltic Fischverarbeitungs GmbH Mukran, on the Isle of Rügen at the Baltic coast is transported from the cutter into the processing plant by pumping. For this purpose 700 l-Euro-size polyethylene tubs (containers) are filled with herring by means of a pressure-vacuum pump-systems during the unloading of the cutter. To be able to pump the fish from the hold on board it is kept floating in water (transport water). At the end of the pumping/transporting process the fish ends in a dewatering box before reaching the tub, where the transport water is separated from the fish. Then, the not completely dewatered fish is slipped into the transport containers. The amount of transport water reaching the containers depends on the type of PV-equipment and on the amount of transport water in the fish holds of the different cutters. Methodologically the mixture of fish and water must be weighed together. For the experiments specially designed transport container were used which allow the measurement of the run-off of the water to be quantified and thus to measure the proportion of water remaining with the fish. Based on 30 experiments it could be shown that on average 6 % of remaining weight of the mixture is water. Furthermore, factors were detected which influence the variability of the proportion of water.

Título: Estudios sobre la distribución de recubrimientos NSR y SCR en catalizadores monolíticos de doble capa para la eliminación de NOx. Resumen: el desarrollo tecnológico, la necesidad inherente del transporte y el crecimiento exponencial de la población en los últimos 50 años han incrementado el número de vehículos motorizados de forma masiva. Como consecuencia, la contaminación del aire cada vez más evidente se ha convertido en un problema crítico a nivel global que es necesario remediar. La principal problemática de los vehículos diesel es el incremento de las emisiones de NOx debido a sus condiciones de operación (atmosfera oxidante). Para el control de las emisiones de NOx y el cumplimiento de la normativa Euro 6 que está por llegar, se han desarrollado tecnologías como la basada en el almacenamiento y reducción de NOx (NSR) o la reducción catalítica selectiva (urea – SCR). Sin embargo, la tecnología NSR no es capaz de cumplir los estándares establecidos debido a la producción de NH3 nocivo como subproducto y la tecnología SCR requiere de un costoso y voluminoso tanque de urea difícil de incorporar en el sistema. Una alternativa para lidiar con ambos problemas es la combinación de ambas tecnologías a través de catalizadores monolíticos de doble capa NSR – SCR. Esta combinación es capaz de aprovechar el NH3 generado en el catalizador aguas abajo NSR para reducir una cantidad de NOx adicional en el catalizador aguas arriba SCR sin la necesidad de incorporar un sofisticado sistema de alimentación de urea para la completa eliminación. El objetivo principal de este trabajo es estudiar el mecanismo de eliminación de NOx en esta clase de catalizadores combinados.

[ES]Esta obra recoge las comunicaciones seleccionadas para el 6º Congreso Europeo sobre Eficiencia Energética y Sostenibilidad en Arquitectura, organizado por el grupo de investigación Calidad de Vida en Arquitectura de la Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea. El congreso, que se celebra en el marco de los XXXIV Cursos de Verano de la UPV/EHU, aborda en esta cuarta edición el tema “Ciudades en riesgo: resiliencia y redundancia”. Alrededor de este tema general se desarrollan cinco ponencias magistrales, a cargo de Margaretha Breil (Centro Euro-Mediterráneo para el Cambio Climático), Cristina Garzillo Leemhuis (ICLEI), Ignasi Fontanals (OptiCits), Juan Carlos Barrios Montenegro (Global Action Plan) y Manuel Valdés López (Ajuntament de Barcelona). Además, 24 comunicaciones seleccionadas por el comité científico presentarán trabajos de investigaciones actuales en las sesiones orales y póster. Es objetivo paralelo del congreso es fortalecer las líneas de investigación en eficiencia energética y sostenibilidad de los grupos de investigación y formación de la UPV/ EHU comprometidos con esta propuesta, con objeto de colaborar en el reforzamiento de la I D i en su ámbito de conocimiento y apoyar la apuesta específica de los Gobiernos Central y Vasco, así como de otras instituciones nacionales e internacionales respecto a las actividades de I D i en las materias relacionadas con el cambio climático, la eficiencia energética y la sostenibilidad ambiental [ENG] This work contains the selected abstracts of the 6th European Conference on Energy Efficiency and Sustainability in Architecture and Planning, organized by the research group Quality of life in Architecture of the University of the Basque Country. Around this general theme there are five invited speakers: Margaretha Breil (Euro-Mediterranean Centre for Climate Change), Cristina Garzillo Leemhuis (ICLEI), Ignasi Fontanals (OptiCits), Juan Carlos Barrios Montenegro (Global Action Plan) y Manuel Valdés López (Barcelona City Council). 24 abstracts additional have been selected by the scientific committee that offer actual research works in presentations and posters. The purpose of the conferences is to strengthen the investigation lines in energy efficiency and sustainability of the research and education groups of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) involved, with the purpose of collaborating in the reinforcement of the I D i in its field of knowledge, and support the specific projects of the Central and Basque Governments, as well as other national and international institutions related to the I Di activities in similar fields of climate change, energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.

O teatro anchietano, que articula a educação, a arte e a religião por meio de um interessante intercâmbio de signos, configurou-se como um dos mais relevantes instrumentos pedagógicos utilizados pela Companhia de Jesus na América Portuguesa durante o século XVI. Suas práticas discursivas acerca do Diabo e de seu séquito infernal tinham por objetivos, a partir da construção de uma pedagogia do medo, a promoção do catolicismo entre os indígenas e a adaptação desses povos à cultura euro-cristã, garantindo, desta forma, a viabilidade da colonização desses domínios ultramarinos pertencentes à coroa portuguesa. O processo de elaboração das representações culturais, característico dos encontros e confrontos entre os mundos europeu e indígena, a gestação de novos modelos de organização social e de valores, por meio do crivo da mestiçagem cultural, serão levados em conta para a análise da ação missionária jesuítica. Na presente dissertação analisaremos esses aspectos tendo por base o Auto de São Lourenço escrito pelo padre José de Anchieta.

La crisis económica en la mayoría de los países ha sido impulsada tanto por factores externos como internos que dejaron sus economías en un declive continuado y que comenzó nada más estallar la crisis en los países del mundo. Estados Unidos fue quién contagió al resto de los países con su sistema financiero permisivo y sus hipotecas subprime que contaminaron el panorama financiero mundial. El euro y la competitividad tampoco se salvan por sus efectos limitativos del poder de respuesta de los estados. España, por su parte, contaba con otros factores de índole interno (ej. Burbuja inmobiliaria, actuación del gobierno) que agravaron aún más las consecuencias de la crisis.

Na frota automotiva nacional, veículos movidos a diesel e biodiesel são utilizados em larga e pequena escala, respectivamente, fazendo com que haja uma preocupação com os gases da exaustão provenientes destes motores. Ao ser fabricado, o veículo passa por testes rigorosos das emissões gasosas, segundo as regras do PROCONVE. Porém, estes testes regulam apenas as substâncias químicas contidas na legislação vigente, cujos riscos à saúde humana e ao meio ambiente são conhecidos. Portanto, conhecer o maior número de componentes ainda não contemplados pela legislação, em especial metais no material particulado, é de suma importância para subsidiar futuras alterações e inclusões na lista de componentes regulados. De acordo com o tamanho das partículas do material particulado, podendo chegar a escalas nanométricas, a inalação deste material pode causar lesões graves no organismo, pois têm a capacidade de atingir órgãos internos. O estudo é baseado na amostragem do material particulado proveniente dos gases de motores alimentados com diesel e/ou biodiesel em diferentes proporções de combustível e ar ambiente com impactador em cascata; determinando metais e arsênio na atmosfera de diferentes localidades do estado do Rio de Janeiro e no material particulado dos gases de escape de motores de ônibus/caminhão (EURO III), por intermédio de abertura ácida do material coletado e da técnica analítica ICP-OES. Os resultados obtidos para motor EURO III variaram de 100 a 10000 ng m-3, com a redução de emissão conforme adição de biodiesel no diesel sendo comprovada. Porém, em todas as proporções de combustíveis empregadas, houve grande incidência de emissão de partículas em escala manométrica, sendo esse comportamento também observado nas amostragens em ar ambiente. Neste caso, teores de 1,0 a 45,0 ng m-3 evidenciaram Caxias e Madureira como locais mais poluídos dos amostrados. Ni é o metal que possui situação mais alarmante, pois em todos os tamanhos de partícula e locais amostrados, os teores deste elemento foram superiores ao permitido pela legislação internacional. A análise estatística multivariada propôs que os combustíveis B10 e B15 são quimicamente semelhantes, enquanto B5 e B20 sofrem fortes alterações no decorrer de sua combustão e a correlação de Pearson mostrou em ar ambiente, que locais com níveis próximos de poluição apresentaram similaridade nos resultados, a qualidade do ar de Madureira é afetado predominantemente pela construção civil e tráfego, a presença da Baía de Guanabara ao redor da Cidade Universitária influencia nas emissões, a refinaria em Caxias é responsável por emissões importantes de metais e no Parque Nacional de Itatiaia , ao contrário de que se supunha, não está totalmente livre de poluição

While it has been widely suggested that freshwater fishes from East Asia invaded the western Palaearctic, details about this process are largely unknown. Here, using the cytochrome b gene, we evaluated the phylogenetic relationships of a small group of Eurasian primary freshwater fishes (Cobitidae), which are widely distributed and species rich in East Asia and Europe, with the purpose of inferring their invasion process of Europe from East Asia. Though phylogenetic relationships of cobitids were not well resolved, our analysis could identify three sister groups formed by the European and East Asian cobitids, which brought new insights into the biogeography of the genera Cobitis, Misgurnus, and Sabanejewia. The present results support the view that Asian cobitid fishes may have invaded Europe at least five times independently, and once reverse colonization of European cobitids to East Asia could also be found. Ancestral Sabanejewia might have been the first cobitids to cross Siberia and invade the EMZS (Euro-Mediterranean zoogeographic subregion) about 33.54 million years ago (MYA). One lineage of Cobitis and the ancestor of Misgurnus fossilis (Linnaeus) almost in the same time invaded the Europe, responding to 16.71 MYA and 16.59 MYA, respectively. Three different lineages of Cobitis were found to have invaded the EMZS from East Asia, and once reverse invasion to East Asia occurred to one subclade of European Cobitis. And our data also suggest that the diversity of East Asian cobitid fishes, especially of the genus Cobitis, is greatly underestimated.

The development of infrastructure in major cities often involves tunnelling, which can cause damage to existing structures. Therefore, these projects require a careful prediction of the risk of settlement induced damage. The simplified approach of current methods cannot account for three-dimensional structural aspects of buildings, which can result in an inaccurate evaluation of damage. This paper investigates the effect of the building alignment with the tunnel axis on structural damage. A three-dimensional, phased, fully coupled finite element model with non-linear material properties is used as a tool to perform a parametric study. The model includes the simulation of the tunnel construction process, with the tunnel located adjacent to a masonry building. Three different type of settlements are included (sagging, hogging and a combination of them), with seven different increasing angles of the building with respect to the tunnel axis. The alignment parameter is assessed, based on the maximum occurring crack width, measured in the building. Results show a significant dependency of the final damage on the building and tunnel alignment.

Fenneropenaeus chinensis distributed in the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea of China and the west coast of the Korean Peninsula. Different geographical populations represent potentially different genetic resources. To learn further the characteristics of different geographical population, crosses among two wild and three farmed populations were produced. The two wild populations were from the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea (WYP), and the west coast of the Korean Peninsula and coast (WKN). The three farmed populations included the offspring of first generation of wild shrimp from coast in Korea (FKN), the Huang Hai (the Yellow Sea in Chinese) No.1 (HH1), and JK98. The phenotypes growth and survival rates of these populations were compared to confirm the feasibility for crossbreeding. The body length (BL), carapace length (CL), carapace width (CW), height of the second and third abdominal segment (HST), width of the second and third abdominal segment (WST), length of the first abdominal segment (LF), length of the last abdominal segment (LL), live body weight (BW), and survival rate were measured. Different combinations were statistically performed with ANOVA and Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The results show that the survival rate of JK98(a (TM) Euro)xWKN(a (TM),) was the highest, followed by WYP(a (TM) Euro)xWKN(a (TM),), FKN(a (TM) Euro)xWYP(a (TM),), FKN(a (TM) Euro)xHH1(a (TM),) and WYP(a (TM) Euro)xFKN(a (TM),); the body weight of FKN(a (TM) Euro)sxHH1(a (TM),) was the highest, followed by FKN(a (TM) Euro)xWYP(a (TM),), WYP(a (TM) Euro)xWKN(a (TM),), WYP(a (TM) Euro)xFKN(a (TM),) and JK98(a (TM) Euro)xWKN(a (TM),); the total length had the same ranking as the body weight. All growth traits in hybrids JK98(a (TM) Euro)xWKN(a (TM),) were the lowest among all combinations. F1 hybrids had significant difference (P < 0.05) in BL, CL, HST, LL, and BW; and insignificant difference (P > 0.05) in other growth traits and survival rate. The results of Duncan's Multiple Range Test are that BL and CL of JK98(a (TM) Euro)xWKN(a (TM),) were significantly different from the other combinations; HST different from the combination of FKN(a (TM) Euro)xWYP(a (TM),), FKN(a (TM) Euro)xHH1(a (TM),) and WYP(a (TM) Euro)xWKN(a (TM),); and BW different from FKN(a (TM) Euro)xWYP(a (TM),) and FKN(a (TM) Euro)xHH1(a (TM),). As a whole, the results indicate that the FKN(a (TM) Euro)xHH1(a (TM),) was the best combination in all growth traits. Therefore, hybridization can introduce the variation to base populations. The systematic selection program based on additive genetic performance may be more effective than crossbreeding.
