In contrast to other media like TV or cinema, digital games are unique and different because they offer a persuasive rhetoric. This investigation introduces the cases of two primary school teachers who use digital games as one of their teaching methods. Both cases are multimodal and show the teachers position in education. This work also explores the challenges faced by teachers as instructors, and the application of digital games in modern classes. From an ethnographic view, gathering information techniques are used, such as documentary analysis and interviews in order to collect data about each case with two teachers from the province of Barcelona. The obtained results raise important questions: what is the main role of a teacher using digital games in class, how teachers participate in learning based on digital games and how digital games are developed and combined with other teaching methodologies. The conclusions obtained by this research let us understand the reason why using digital games in class allows the students to learn and keep their motivation: digital games stimulate them so they can establish a personal connection.

The teaching of general chemistry involves both the choice and the organization of its concepts. Although College Teachers make their choices, frequently the text books play an important role in this selection. In the present project we intend to show what are Teachers' perceptions of conceptual organization and selection as well as their perceptions of how to teach general chemistry. This demonstration is carried out through the use of metaphors from new information technologies.

During short courses, 95 secondary school teachers from 49 state schools and 421 students from the Ribeiro Preto region (in Sao Paulo state, Brazil, with a population of 530,000) were asked to fill in different questionnaires. The points raised in the teacher's questionnaire were used as a guide to establish a continuous dialogue during the short courses. Most of the schools claimed to have some kind of environmental education (EE). Based on the questionnaires and dialogues we analyzed how the teachers' perceptions on EE reflect on the views secondary students hold about their own responsibility for preserving the environment. The role of universities in the preparation of chemistry teachers capable of effectively approaching EE is also discussed.
